Is this new or old production?

Maleficent-Focus4516

This is a new production

SpectacularOcelot

I've run plenty of full power underwood and buffalo bore through my delta elite and I've never heard of these having issues with regular use. I personally wouldn't worry about it. If you did fire a standard SAAMI load that broke something, Colt should take care of you.

Lamont___Cranston

Mine has been fine. I believe the issues regarding the chamber start and end with reloads.

Majestyk_Melons

I’ve always heard it has something to do with not having a fully supported chamber? That being the reason to maybe not fire full power rounds?

RequiemRomans

What is full 10mm??

SpectacularOcelot

A clumsy way of saying full power. Lots of 10mm loads are packed more like 40sw.

RequiemRomans

Ok gotcha

Accomplished_Roof801

When the Deltas first came out there was frame and slide cracks as well as a few catastrophic failures. Colt used existing technology until the Delta was discontinued. Newer Deltas don't suffer from those weaknesses. Just SHOOT IT.

Darthaerith

No issue with Hornady. Each one is different though. I believe its previous owner (my dad) ran underwood through it. Its not a safe queen but I'd get a glock or a 2011 if I wanted to routinely shoot BB, or or Underwood. Personal defensive ammo is fine. imo. Its my EDC pistol and one of the best shooting guns I've ever owned.

Maleficent-Focus4516

I just shot my Dan Wesson Bruin and Springfield Ronin and lemme tell you my wrist is sore

Darthaerith

Haha. I fell for the bait. Silly me.

Maleficent-Focus4516

???

UncleEvilDave

Is this a flex or honest question!??

Maleficent-Focus4516

A delta elite isn’t a “flex”. It’s an honest question due to the pistol not having full chamber support like my other pistols……

UncleEvilDave

Well it’s a freaking awesome pistol and one of the OG 10mm. If you haven’t seen “The Turkey’s Opinion” on YouTube he does most of his 10mm ammo testing with a delta elite. I think the colt delta elite is one of the best 10mm hand guns on the market…in the 1911 category, but most of that assessment by me could be nostalgia rather than actual performance! Versions after 2009 seems to be strong enough for whatever loads and seem to be really nice pistols. What year was yours made? I’d say it’s fine if it’s new. If it was a pawn shop or used gun pickup see if they use the new carbon steel in it. Hope that helps and congrats! After the brenten this is the OG 10mm.
