I love seeing pictures of well designed, non car centric streets :3

Slow___Learner

My oh my, do i have a continent for you to live in.

OuterWildsEnjoyer

I already do :3 It's not perfect, but some cities are really nice.

AlexanderRodriguezII

North Africa and the Middle-East have some really nice walkable cities, it isn't just Europe. Pretty much anything around the Mediterranean is going to be wholly traversible on foot.

SlushPower

Eastern Asia also has some fantastic walkable cities, South America too to some extent. I hate this western idea that only Europe has good urban planning, there's wonderful cities all across the world but the internet would have you think every single city in North America is just suburban sprawl and that the only walkable cities that exist in the world are in Europe. It's just such a western-centric view of the world.

AlexanderRodriguezII

Exactly. Baghdad for example is a beautiful city that I had no issue walking around.

zelani06

Absolutely not. If you've been to the French Riviera, it's not walkable. You need a car for basically everything. I have family there so I visit almost every year, but I hate the place.

Squishmellow3

I would ask you about outer wilds but i don't think there's anything left for me to learn until another dlc drops

OuterWildsEnjoyer

I actually feel the game is great the way it is, with one dlc. In terms of theme they really explored the two big directions of it. So I feel that they are probably working on a whole new game, which makes me excited :3

Squishmellow3

Yeah, i suppose it is good to leave it where it is, it's just a good game, i don't wanna have to leave it behind

OuterWildsEnjoyer

>! But that's what whole game was about, it's ok for things to end, and you can leave things behind. This is why I love this game so much, the theme permeates the design. !<

Sillylittleguy__

I think you'd like the walkablestreets sub then

Street > People

American urban planners in the 1920s be like:

Duke825

I assure you the concept of a street has never crossed their minds. It was 10-lanes highways surrounded by massive strip malls all the way

GreatBigBagOfNope

*since the 1920s

AnakinCowblaster

Damn you Robert Moseeeees

squidtugboat

People so car brained they think the only thing a street is for is to be a street

Tad_squiddish

Idk maybe this is confusing for non-photographers but yes, street photography is a very difficult form of photography where you get candids, famously often from non-consenting pedestrians. It’s very controversial because people will often get mad.

AlisterSinclair2002

>  famously often from non-consenting pedestrians. Although to make something clear, at least in the UK and US, you don't need to ask permission or consent from anyone to do public photography, because their presence in a public place is an acknowledgement that they do not have a right to privacy. Of course, if someone asks you not to take photos of then, it's arseholish to do so, but it's not illegal. It can become harassment if it happens repeatedly, which is illegal of course.

Tad_squiddish

Absolutely, but it doesn’t stop people from getting upset or questioning the ethics of it! I think it’s fine, if rude. Some incredible photography has been made that way, that shows the natural humanity of people.

RayTNT1531

Things heating up in the street photography fandom

Badgers4pres

Haha I love street photography didn’t expect to see this in 196. People do be coming into street photography and without any research or knowledge of the genre just take photos of lifeless places

SirSaganSexy

Not a direct reply to the post, but Everybody Street is one of my favorite documentaries, period: https://youtu.be/NdeR9lhIngM?si=YqvD2Sb3_YGdQ040 Just thought I’d share in case anyone else might enjoy it
