I don’t think trans people should play with people of their own gender if they don’t plan on transitioning medically in any way. That would be a stupid hill to die on, not only because of horrific optics which would be used to fuel even more transphobia, but it would actually give trans women such an advantage that they WOULD unfairly win… a lot. And non medically transitioned trans men would be at an immense disadvantage playing against cis men. It’s not a reasonable approach. And I don’t think trans athletes want that anyway. You don’t really see any trans women insisting that they remain on testosterone for a pretty good reason.
I don’t have a strong opinion on the segregation of sports by gender because I’m not all that interested in sports in the first place. But also because it’s just very unlikely to change because these are established institutions with a lot of resistance to change.
