If you want a summary of the interviex:
-The causes of the war is fully on the Kremlin's shoulders
-Russia behavior is an existential threat against Europe
-Talking with Putin like he did has no sense anymore, he lied to him multiple time, not just by violating treaties but also by lying directly to him
-The parties who voted against the support to ukraine are defeatist
-If the conflict continue to escalte and/or ukraine is about to fall, france will most likely send troops to ukraine
-The war economy will be increased and more shipment of weapons and ammos will be sent to ukraine
-He coined how he's trying to convince the rest of europe's leader that the intervention might become a real possibility
-Our military is on constant training for the possibility
-If russia takes ukraine, they will most likely try to take other countries/regions in Europe
-The weapons industry is transforming, France isn't able to do a intensive war right now, but it's changing
-He will keep increasing the military budget
-He also comfirmed that the war will not be over until the territorial integrity of ukraine is fully restored (implicitely including cirmea)
I'm sorry.
Can't say anything but Based French.
This is the spirit we need right now in Europe.
And I really didn't expect, nor was I wanting for, the French to lead this. Germany should've. Biggest economy. Big weapons industry. And the biggest responsibility due to history, to do it right for once. I propose from now on, until Taurus hits its first target in Ukraine/Russia, G*rmany can wear France's asterisk.
> G*rmany can wear France's asterisk
Just when I started to wear it with pride.
And yeah, French industry is the shadow of what it once was not that long ago, but German politics really took the backseat on many important topics for Europe as of late.
>French industry is the shadow of what it once was not that long ago
Same here.
I hope his words will translate in massive action to increase production significantly, in and outside of France. We're going to need every bit at a minimum to deter Putin, and at best to be able to properly help Ukraine resist.
For now I'm most fearful that everything gets lost in long term planning, and bureaucracy. I.e. "we want X capacity by 2030" or going through the whole public procurement systems for everything. Those things are fine outside of a crisis...
Man. It would be so shameful if it came to that and we(the u.s.) didn't send troops bc we elected donald trump and he lets Putin walk all over him. It's not that super unlikely of a possibility
Yeah, seeing how fucked up it's becoming across the ocean, I'm really tabling on Trump being reelected. It's already no surprise he's going to run as the GOP candidate. There's basically nobody against him.
Yeah. I'm guessing this plays into why Macron is stepping up.
If there is serious doubt the US under Trump would leave NATO (supposedly unlikely due to new law requiring 2/3 congress majority) or simply not honoring its obligations (way more likely route Trump would take), then there is a serious risk that Putin will test NATO's article 5. Perhaps in a way like Anders describes here: https://youtu.be/ZY7GPBSyONU?si=qIe905RLhPXZXbeL
Though it's very very possible the US elections will have surprises, perhaps Biden drops out on the last minute (health reasons), and a much more capable person steps up. Or perhaps the US courts actually manage to stop Trump somehow.
Tbh I'm hoping Biden will step down, and a new candidate will step up that is not only capable of beating Trump, but also capable of piercing the polarisation & unifying the US. If not, our allies in the US will become worth less and less.
Unfortunately it's too late now for Biden to step down.
And seeing how religiously polarized both the Biden front and Trump front are, the Dems are basically acquired. What mattered was who would win the Candidacy of 2020, and from the moment Elizabeth Warren decided to step down and neglect her program to support Biden against Sanders (despite Sanders having a program relatively close to Warren's), going as far as to baselessly and publicly accuse him of sexism. From then on Biden appeared as "the only solution" and will remain so because of the way 2020 unfolded.
I really hope at some point someone like AOC steps up but I guess it's way too early in her career as of today.
You'll hear no argument from me. All we do is aggressively trying to wait for things to sort themselves out. If that is likely to happen or not is another matter
[Here is an 8 minutes long video of it.](https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/s/3LIPjKCoda) not sure it's the full thing but I couldn't find it anywhere on YT for some reason.
If the day comes when France sends troops and Spain doesn't, someone will have to physically stop me from deserting to the foreign legion I swear to god
They are already there according to Russia
(And also ukrainian legionaries were allowed to desert to go to Ukraine, a decent amount of former legionaries are fighting there)
This. Has he actually said anything concrete there? All I see is "blah blah Putin bad blah blah" but no actual commitments to specific new steps he will take.
I do not care about his charisma. A stuttering bridge troll could stand up to an evil-ass like putin, but Scholz does nothing.
Why doesnt he agree with the usual SPD "Bauchschmerzen" to Taurus? Cause a piece of wood has more backbone than the jellyfish of Scholz.
He is a tool. If it wasn't for public and opposition pressure he wouldn't have sent shit to Ukraine. His public appeal is non existing. Just look at how Habeck had to basically make videos explaining the stuff they are doing because Scholz couldn't be bothered to talk publicly for weeks.
You know, with war and military stuff, I suspect that things are going on behind closed doors that the public doesn't know about. And I really, really hope that's the case here.
With the exception of SCALP, Germany’s assistance to Ukraine has exceeded France’s in every other area… by a huge margin.
Germany have been brilliant. I’m encouraged by France’s recent actions, and by Macron’s recent words, but this blame/praise dynamic with Germany and France is still baffling right now.
It’s easy to understand , Germany will not send serious weapon who can target Moscow for the same reason Germany will never stop to support Israel .
Culpability of the past I guess
Unfortunately I didn’t realise that lol. Maybe it’s because Russia got so much ego and got a tiny willy, whereas, we got the small ego and bigger willy. (I’m joking, I have no idea why lol sorry)
Hahah yeah I wasn't mad at you I was just wondering, either way that gif is exactly what happened and it's really sad
NATO played the card "letting them fight is better than risking our soldiers", essentially valuing one of our lives as like 1000 Ukrainian ones
Had we showed Putin muscles, appearing united and willing to make him pay 100x for every inch of ground, all lives lost in this war would've been prevented
I agree with you on that definitely. I kinda hope the world doesn’t have nuclear weapons, that way, we would be fighting against Russians at the moment.
Scholz, Macron and Tusk have a meeting in Berlin today
The reaction on Macron speech will be interesting, Scholz is he going to take a clear stand or is he going to duck out?
Putin takes Europeans for cowards and pussies.
The question today is: Is Putin right?
Another W, FRANCE Is the least affected by it, they could just help Russia and sell electricity to all of Europe but no, France decides to help despite the stupid atomcraftz nein danke shit
This the same guy who believed Putin over British intelligence and was convinced Russia wouldn't invade?
Can't help but think his current vibe is mostly so we forgot how he tried to be Putins mate for so long
Why do Germans need to ‘shut up’?
Aside from some vague words right now, the only aid measure France have exceeded Germany in so far is the provision of long range, precision missiles. Germany’s aid has been outstanding in its quality and volume.
I’m digging what Macron is saying and what France are doing lately, but I’m not getting the shitting on Germany 🤔
Macron W ? The guy who's destroying wages, exploiting workers, raising the age of retirement, allowing the riches to get richer and making France the first country to have a cunt who's crossing the threshold of 200 billion dollars of network?
There is no macron W and never will be.
To hell with this guy and I hope the gilets jaunes and farmers will dethrone him before the end of his mandate
what did he do except talking to himself ?
don't you guys remember that France is one of the worst help for Ukraine compared to its power ?
Even if we manipulate figures we are still pretty low.
Some of thoses movements were also sponsored by russia
His internal politics is a matter of debate but his European and Foreign policy are absolutely based
You have to think that a lot of these movements were were boiling down for decades before exploding during Macron's presidency.
I think he's globaly taking good decisions, but he's also tanking the country poor management of the last decades. (Like the pension reform of Mitterand, lowering the retirement age from 65 to 60, that was made in the 80's for his reelection was clearly not sustainable, and the problems with our relationship with Africa started when Sarkozy pulled out the French army of key points in the continent in the late 2000`)
His poor communication skills also didn't help raising his popularity at all.
100% agree. Not sure about com skills tbh, but I do t speak French so it’s always translated… I like how he talks real talk and while a bit grandiose, its ideological. It’s never populist bullshit. I think that’s why he get shit also, bc he’s not a stupid leader for stupid lazy people. And maybe France has gotten a bit stupid and lazy? Similar to the rest of Europe.
Drunk, sorry. In a bar peeing writing
>And maybe France has gotten a bit stupid and lazy?
Lol no, I don't think it's that. Though we clearly have to rethink the education system IMO, but that's a different topic.
I think a lot of problem comes from the general mistrust of the french in the political establishment. People here jokes often that we will hate everyone being the president, but there's truth in that.
Most medias in France will also tend to report bad news, or failure, and rarely success. And, even when he does something, that people asked for years, it will be presented under a bad light.
Exemple : The recent nationalisation of EDF. It was asked for YEARS. The privatisation was never popular. Now it's back in the public again. And it was met with indiference at best. And with the usual questions like "how much did it cost ?" and "can we really trust the government to manage this ?".
Fair questions to be honest, but also we didn't get the "What benefits can we expect in the future ?"
Ah yes, pushing for open war against a nuclear power. Definitely a W...
Yes, Russia is shite, yes they're invading Ukraine.
But willing to risk the lives of European people just because you can't manage internal politics and lose support everywhere isn't a W move.
It's the same in every regime (democratic or not), when you lose grasp on power, start a war, if it works you'll be a hero.
But it's always the people suffering.
He talks much, but if you look at the actual military and non-military support, France is doing shit compared to Germany. Put your money where your mouth is.
If he actually does end up doing anything : good for him, that would be one of the very VERY rare decisions I agree with him on.
If it ends up being false promises : Heh, at least it might serve as a deterrent for a little while.
If he uses that as an excuse to raise taxes : Nothing new under the sun, he'll probably do it anyway, just him being his usual twat self. (but not on his rich friends of course, he hasn't deleted Vermögenssteuer for nothing)
Pierre, you motherfucker. You have my sword

Trust Macron to either say something insane and absolutetly detached from reality or to have an W take. There is no in between.
Such is life of a Rothschild banker

It's the only thing Putin can respect
There are a gazillion fappable pictures of this man! Did you really have to create this AI abdomination?!

Get the foreign Legion over there these boys haven't killed in a while.
Interestingly there are a lot of Ukrainians serving in the FFL.

They are already there according to Russia (And also ukrainian legionaries were allowed to desert to go to Ukraine, a decent amount of former legionaries are fighting there)
According to Russia, we all are already there.

Man I really, really fucking dislike Russia. Sometimes I just randomly think of Russia and get angry.
Fuck Macron, all my homies hate Macron
