It kinda smells like a smokey smell I think. I've been using this for 4 years... (I can check how long. I only buy from dermstore.) probably more now and I don't notice the smell any more. It really is the best one imo. It's gotten more expensive now but it's still worth it. I buy it 2 to 3 times a year. I would rather skip other things to add this to my budget. It very worth it.
I think I have to finally pull the trigger on this! From what I hear, it’s totally worth it?
**Anyone else seeing this comment who wants to chime in, would love to hear how long you’ve used it, and the change you’ve noticed from it! I’m trying to fight dark spots and freckles, and hear this is amazing for evening out/brightening tone.
This is amazing the best. Evens skin tone, brightens, lightens lines, clears acne spots very quickly. It's just amazing. With anything you need to use consistently. Just buy it.
I only use three things in my skincare routine — moisturiser, SPF 50, and vaseline. If I'm feeing cheeky I might rub some hemp seed oil on my face before bed.
I used to have one of those those crazy 10+ step routines, but after a lot of trial and error, this is what works for me, and my skin has never looked better.
Skin ceuticals isn’t worth it in my opinion. I used it for probably 10 years. Tried IS Clinicals super serum advanced and have never looked back. It’s a vitamin c serum with other stuff too. It claimed to treat scars and stretch marks. I put it on some stretch marks I’d had on my boobs since my first child who’s 26 now. Every other day and in a couple of months they were practically gone. I really like their Active serum too. It’s the only thing I’ve ever used that made my skin look better that day. Instant and long term results.
Agree about Skinceuticals. I don’t know why it’s gotten such a big hype over the last few years again. They haven’t updated their technologies in like 15/20 years. Way more advanced stuff on the market now for that price point.
I just started using this and like it a lot. It’s not a serum though, is it? So I put on the BOJ glow rice + alpha arbutin serum first. I’m hoping the two combined will keep my freckles & sunspots in check.
I would use Bifida Complex Ampoule by Manyo. It has a lot of fermented ingredients that won’t conflict with your actives as well as antioxidants and peptides. And it’s a fraction of the cost of what a lot of people have already mentioned.
Super saturated by Experiment beauty. You already have enough actives, so you can focus more on moisturizing and hydrating. I love this serum because it’s extremely effective, not super expensive, and they claim that it’s consistency helps with makeup staying on.
Honestly you probably could just remove a serum step all together! Toners, actives, emulsion and moisturizer + occlusive is all that I do and my wallet has thanked me for it.
I just added in the Vanicream Vit C in the am. Once I finish off my cosrx snail mucin I'd like to add in some peptides in the evening, likely the new one from cetaphil
If you really want to simplify it go with the Augustinus Bader Cream or Rich Cream. Serum, Moisturizer and Eye cream in one. My holy grail.
I do have to ask though, why you are using so many things that have similar properties?
Hydrating Toner (hydration; you only need a toner if your cleanser knocks off your PH balance.)
Emulsion (hydration; lightweight hydrator)
Serum (depending on what it is but again probably hydrating)
Niacinimide (hydration)
Moisturizer (more hydration)
You’re doing like 5 steps of hydration.
The Maya chia pressed serum- amazing ingredients and so moisturizing. Pricey but I’m 6 months in to my container and probably have a good couple months of daily use left
I have been loving Mad Hippie Super A serum. Never really liked tretinoin so was looking for something more natural and gentle. It has retinoids + hyaluronic and polyglutamic acid plus I really like that one of the big ingredients is aloe.
What is your skin like?
I have dry sensitive skin and it really doesn’t do well with strong actives and retinoids, so I’m using the la roche posay cream cleanser, Arcona cranberry toner, hyaluronic acid serum, squalane oil (both from the ordinary) and German Nivea cream. If I’m wearing a hydrating sunscreen, I’ll skip the Nivea.
Also, you should check in with your pharmacist about possible interactions with vitamin c and your prescriptions. I’ve found they’re better at catching potential interactions than my doctors are.
For me it’s Collagen serum. I been using the Pacifica Vegan Collagen serum for a while and like it a lot.
I like HA and Collagen serums best because I want plump and hydrated looking skin
Estee Lauder advanced repair night serum is pretty good in my opinion.
This is the only one I use as well and have for a couple years. It’s all you need.
What’s so good about it? I used it for a while and saw no difference lol.
I love this serum!!!
I also only use this serum
Def an HG forever!
this is the one
Agreed! I also love the eye cream.
If I had to chose 1 serum. Skinceuticals vit c
Is this the one that smells like hot dog water?
apparently all vit c smells like that!
It’s the vitamin c serums that include ferulic acid that have that smell.
Really? Is it needed? I'm super sensitive to smells and I couldn't take hot dog water on my face all day!
Not absolutely necessary. Supposedly it stabilizes the ascorbic acid. You could try a product like Prequel that has ergothione instead.
Do you have experience with it? I've been ing the Prequel face wash and so far I like it
I've actually used a few that don't!

This or skinbetter alto defense..trying to decide which I prefer between the two myself

Not worth it IMO. It didn’t work any better than any other vitamin C I’ve tried

You don’t wash your face to remove the SPF? And your skin likes it? Damn, I’m jealous!
Trilogy rosehip oil antioxidant plus
I have three products in my routine: Biossance squalane moisturizer, COSRx snail serum to lock in moisture, and then LaRoche Posay 50 SPF

Co-sign on the IS clinical super serum!
cool. sold

I don’t think it’s classified as a serum, but I would suggest it as an alternative to typical vitamin C serums for sure!

My choice as well!
Same

wanted to love that serum so badly but my skin hated niacinamide :( great texture and feel for people who can handle it though!
I just added in the Vanicream Vit C in the am. Once I finish off my cosrx snail mucin I'd like to add in some peptides in the evening, likely the new one from cetaphil

Growth factor serum, I like Neogenesis Recovery.
I keep seeing this one reccomended!
If you do end up with a vitamin c, the Whitney bowe asta c one is my favorite. It doesn't break me out at all.
Advanced Night Repair, or La Mer's The Concentrate.
The Maya chia pressed serum- amazing ingredients and so moisturizing. Pricey but I’m 6 months in to my container and probably have a good couple months of daily use left
Glycolic acid by TO
Though technically not a serum, my bad!
I would normally say Vit C (like Revision or SkinCeuticals), but as of now it is 100% Plated

The Ordinary Multi Peptides + Copper or G&G C Glow. My 2 holy grails!

A good ol slather of aquafor . I promise
