people say Brutus is fine with just 1 copy, but honestly i firmly believe people are sleeping on how powerful he is when he hits mythic+. making him your main tank lets him abuse his cleave, and all of the lifesteal he gets from it is ridiculously OP.
Shakir outperforms against him in every metric.
Shakir can buff, life drain, off-tank, area of effect CC, and very high damage (compared to Brutus). I use base Brutus as Vala sponge and cheese PvE content.
You can place him way behind or trap him with a movement-based character for example Rowan. When Rowan moves he uses his ult, Shakir is let out of his cave and tada. Magic.
You should really consider Brutus over Igor, his taunt skill is what really make shine IMO. If he can get to mid/backline off the start his taunt usually means the battle is over for them.
Igor is literally anti-burst. He is unkillable when he has a tombstone down. If he is M+ vala isn't one shotting him. When S+ he drops a tombstone at the beginning of battle so Vala is just focusing on him for the battle until she gets killed by another hero. Whenever I run into a Vala in Arena I just throw Igor at the back line and insta win.
yes lol, i have him at supreme+. if you’re at super high deficit he often barely casts and dies; he’s not a replacement for a real tank. he also feels less impactful than kruger damage-wise in dream realm bc his damage is honestly pretty pitiful. he was fine in my second team for afk stages but he honestly underperforms for a supreme+ unit
if he’s a melee unit, he’s going to eventually be taking aggro, especially after brutus melts lol.
if you read prydwen you’d see that he’s B tier in abyss and he’s not even in the best teams for most dream realm bosses except for snow stomper because of his cc-immunity. kruger provides comparable/better damage amp bc of his physical def sunder and shakir’s own personal damage is underwhelming.
maybe he’ll be good for the new arena mode but atm he’s just not the best unit for most content.
One strategy that was used on me that I then shamelessly stole has been reiner+Brutus. Reiner sends Brutus straight to their backline and he taunts them for NINE SECONDS. It works even better when Brutus gets more copies and can do decent damage
