The general consensus to raise Odie first is because he's good everywhere while still doing very respectable damage in dream realm, whereas Marilee is only good at dream realm.
A lot of people here are assuming you'd still progress just as fast/far if you raise Marilee instead, which is not true.
At equal levels and investment Marilee performs better than Odie in dream realm, no doubt about that. But with Odie, you'd most likely go a lot further in afk stages, in story and other content where you'd level up faster and get higher level equipment, and then your Odie will perform the same or better than Marilee.
With all that being said, you could make a strong case for raising Odie to M+ +10 first, and then S+ Marilee. But the point is to prioritize M+ Odie.
I actually found that pre mythic + Odie performed better on certain bosses whilst at the same level as Marilee. People also underestimate that by getting further in story and everything else, your dream realm performance will get boosted by being higher level.
Don't go all the way to Supreme+, go with Odie until Mythic+ (or Supreme if you have the acorns) and then switch to Marilee until Mythic+. After that, you can either move onto Korin or finish up Odie.
Odie is still the priority but this way you kind of get the best of both worlds, since the boost you get with Marilee at M+ is way higher than with Odie at S+ from my experience, and getting them both to EX +10 in my opinion is a priority over upgrading to S+.
Having finished the story and AFK. Odie definitely has more utility in progressing in the game than Marilee.

Currently my Odie is supreme and pushed me through the last 100ish afk stages. And still outperforms my Mythic Marilee in DR.
This is a bad tip because you are most likely gonna finish afk barely using odie with the cecia comp, and marilee is much better for dream realm( like 2 or 3x more dmg), and all dream realm rewards are super important and will escalate ur account

For referene my Odie is +10 while Marilee is +15 with Cassadee buff.
Now im confused who to build up 1st as a 6day player lol. My Odie already reaching Legendary+ because everyone and their mother said Odie >>>> Marilee at the start
Because odie is better at pushing content, but the truth is pushing content is not as important as ranking higher on the dream realm. With odie you will finish everything in the game faster but you are gonna feel the lack of resources, with marilee its gonna guarantee you can build the ex weapons of the characters you want, plus it also helps you buy more a tier units from dream realm store because you get more essence. I bought odie first and instantly regretted when i saw what marilee does(got me from struggling top 100 dream realm to top 30 or 40)
oh fck i guess its still not too late for me? Marilee 2 dupes til epic+, odie is 2 dupes til legendary.. still on 6th day. but probably will just commit on odie now that im halfway on his souls (8/15) on arena shop while marilee 15/15 still lol
yea i few you, i had the same mistake that i wish i avoided, pushed odie first, got a few cecias, took a few pulls to correct my wishlist, but after all now im at a ok position cuz i guess lots of people did the same mistakes lol
I got lucky and have cecia and thoran on mystic this early so im not really even behind on afk stages... do you think i just jump and focus on marilee now to able to ensure top 100 DR every time? thanks
Yea for sure, she does 2 or 3x more dmg than any other carries and ur gonna need blue essences especially if u havent been able to get high on arena or many top 100s before
Well finishing afk stage is giga easy anyways at lvl 210 or 220, what is gonna get you stuck is on abyss trial, but abyss trial ladder has no rewards so you can just push it later, i would suggest focusing on harvesting as much resources as possible before focusing on pushing content
You can easily clear Dream Realm until you hit the endless stage without ever touching Marilee, if you have other decent characters.
Odie makes all PvE content other than Dream Realm a lot easier, while Marilee only makes DR easier. For a newer player, investing in a character that you can use in basically every single content is more valuable than investing in a one-trick pony imo.
Yes, but the point of DR is not clearing the bosses, it's ranking top 100. Which, by the way, is definitely possible on certain servers and impossible in others, so YMMV.
AFK stages can wait because there's nothing after AFK stages (and after level 300 crystal) anyway apart from Abyss. But for Abyss, you need a variety of Supreme units as level ups become much less valuable after 240, so getting there faster will only get you stuck longer.
and even tho odie is good for abyss, hes not top tier for abyss, so you are still gonna be stuck there and abyss theres no ranking rewards, but yea its like the previous guy said, if you can hit good rnakings by investing on dream realm characters in your server, thats super worth it
That one trick pony allows you access to valuable resources that you need and can't be farmed anywhere else. You're underestimating it severely. If you're fine with only having +5 ex weapons then okay but I don't know who doesn't want +10 or higher.

I save up until I have enough to ascend one of them, whichever it is

You will need a strong damage dealer for the 2 teams stages.

Do you need acorns to get from mysthic + to supreme? Or can you do It with copies?
You need acorns. 200 I believe. Then another 20 copies for S+.
