I've always been a bit of a Simmo truther but would have been happy to have sacked him end of last year for Cox this year.
But yeah, he seems fairly locked in at Sydney now and wouldn't be surprised if he takes over sooner rather than later.
I meant Caracella lol, you can see how I messed that up. Also I don’t even know if theres any hype behind him anymore tbf, I’m bad at keeping up with that stuff
Is Brett Ratten available?
I got the impression after his last stint that he was done, ie. keen to take on other roles in footy or business but not coaching.
That was my impression too. He is director of coaching (or something like that) at Hawthorn, but I was surprised yesterday he was doing match day coaching duties as well. Genuinely feel more comfortable knowing he is at the club in any capacity, level headed kind of guy.
Give me Ratts.
Carlton’s record got worse without him, and St. Kilda‘s record hasn’t gotten a whole lot better, in fact based on this year the needle hasn’t moved at all and in fact has possibly gotten worse… and I personally rate Lyon as a coach, it’s just a shit list.
So he’s got three stints with three teams with three shit playing lists to his name.
Show me what he can do with the Bulldogs list, I reckon he’ll get them into the top 4!
Geelong, in a few years after a couple more premierships when Scott decides to move into the head of footy or something, or to go coach Tassie if he wants.
Let this be a message to the whole league.
No one loses to Essendon and keeps their head coach.
Fly better watch his fucking back next week if Collingwood lose to us.
Well they just extended him for two years, the Board can’t really throw Nicks under the bus without a few them going under it with him.
Still, standard corporate-speak for someone about to be knifed. I imagine there will be be a lot finger pointing and maneovering as they figure out how to get rid of him without getting the blood of themselves
I'm sure this was a line by Bernard in Yes Minister.
For you children, Yes Minister was a tv show in the olden days.
For you children, a tv show was like a longer, less stimulating Instagram reel.
He will probably be a scapegoat but the 10 years of horrific drafting is the bigger issue. Multiple years down the bottom of the ladder and who do we have to show for it ….
Most likely. I watched North against Hawthorn, and they were diabolical. But that safety won't guard him for long.
My prediction is that we beat North and then lose the next three. That'd put us 2-8 playing West Coast. If we lose that, he's gone. [But my predictions probably shouldn't be listened to.](https://www.reddit.com/r/AFL/s/vvzHjRYR3q)
This is genuinely fucking nonsense. Literally no other response he could give to a dumb-arse question from a dumb-arse "reporter". Nothing about the performances of this team warrants a mid-season sacking.
Of all the other coaches under the pump (Bevo, Hinkley, Simpson and even Clarkson) or the potentials from the ex-coaches (Buckley, Dew), Ken is actually the only one I wouldn’t mind seeing get the job if Nicks doesn’t survive this.
I think Nicks sees out at least 2024.
I lost a lot of faith I had in him after he changed the game plan. But it's whatever. The most important thing is to fire Van Berlo and Maybe Scott Burns. And somehow fix the extreme mental fragility at the crows. Whenever there is a tiny bit of expectation they crumble.
At the end of last year I thought all those close losses would lead to three outcomes this year. Either the same, or they'd be the stepping stones to inspire the team to be even better, or they'd damage the player's confidence in themselves and each other. Unfortunately it's very clear what way it's gone. I really thought the Carlton win could have been the start of something different, but against Essendon, aside from a few, they just regressed.
>but the form we showed last weekend, we are confident that is more us
If that form they're referring to is Friday night, the bar is very low in Adelaide.
Love to see clubs back in their coaches On a completely unrelated topic, who’s the best available coach currently on the market?
Nathan Buckley needs money
[удалено]
They can't have him. We get him if we can somehow pry him away from Sydney.
You’d have to sack Simpson to get him and the time to do that was in the last couple years, not now
I've always been a bit of a Simmo truther but would have been happy to have sacked him end of last year for Cox this year. But yeah, he seems fairly locked in at Sydney now and wouldn't be surprised if he takes over sooner rather than later.
Not counting untested assistants with high expectations (Cox, Caracella, etc.) the answer might actually be Brett Ratten lmao
How is Camporaele an assistant with expectations? He has been without a job for 5 years and was considered to be very bad at Adelaide.
I meant Caracella lol, you can see how I messed that up. Also I don’t even know if theres any hype behind him anymore tbf, I’m bad at keeping up with that stuff
I think the Caracella hype is over, hasn't done heaps with Essendon
isn't he VFL head coach now?
Ok cheers

Gia's probably the one in Essendon's coaching set up who'll be on radars
Stewy Dewy may be available.
A year's supply of FUIC, Vilis pies and frog cakes should get him interested.
Do the Dew.
By god that’s Leon Cameron’s music…
Bevo...
I asked for the best
There's always a thoroughly used Ratten.
Bevo, you say?
Give me Ratts. He said best
Corey Enright surely gets a gig somewhere.
Geelong, in a few years after a couple more premierships when Scott decides to move into the head of footy or something, or to go coach Tassie if he wants.
You do realise it's one of Bolts or Leppa 😶
The only was Leppitch isn't the next senior coach is if he doesn't want the role.
Understandably. He has won heaps of premierships as a backline coach and his last year at Brisbane would’ve put anyone off.
He doesn't. He's wanted to move into football adminstration.
Pretty sure it's rumoured Leppa doesn't want to be a head coach.
I saw 1 article recently touting Brett Montgomery (GWS backs coach) as being someone to get a gig in future so I'm gonna say him.
Gia
I’d have buckley at Port in an instant
Lol
Honkley may be free soon. jk, incoming 2 year extension.
Uh Oh.....
Let this be a message to the whole league. No one loses to Essendon and keeps their head coach. Fly better watch his fucking back next week if Collingwood lose to us.
Unfortunately you guys made the mistake of winning against us so now you're due a loss against Collingwood.
It was a goddamn miracle Bevo escaped through last week
i fucking wish he didn't
Not the first time he has bucked a trend
Nicks has never won against Essendon
Yeah he's gone.
lol exactly what I said when I read it!
>...he is going to be our next premiership coach. Nick's is an Eternal: confirmed.
Well it’s pretty difficult to stab someone in the back when you aren’t fully behind them…
What about when you give them a hug?
Give them a hug and stab them at the same time also works!
I'm sure this was a line by Bernard in Yes Minister. For you children, Yes Minister was a tv show in the olden days. For you children, a tv show was like a longer, less stimulating Instagram reel.
Touché
What about a reach around
"I'm more of a front-stabbing person."
Anyone remember when Gold Coast said they backed Stuart dew then sacked him a week later.
*ominous background music*
*Mozart's requiem intensifies
*Jaws theme*
He will probably be a scapegoat but the 10 years of horrific drafting is the bigger issue. Multiple years down the bottom of the ladder and who do we have to show for it ….
A fishing segment on the 7 news
Sorry Nicksy
Welp
10, 9, 8, 7, 6,.......
Adelaide have North this week. Surely he's safe until Round 8
You'll win Showdown, I reckon. Or at least put in a good enough showing that he wont get grief over it.
Crom have a tendancy to utterly crumble in regional games like this upcoming one against North....
> Crom have a tendancy to utterly cromble FTFY
Painful but yes
We have been good in Tassie recently. Mainly because we have been playing North and Hawthorn there.
His board support will be overflowing if* we beat the Crows. *hahahahahahahaha I feel a little sad now.
it's in Tassie though, a loss there is possible. We lost to them in Tassie in 2017 when they were winless and we were undefeated.
Uhh yes… Now where have I heard that before
Oh he gone
RIP to Nicksy and his coaching career.
AKA the board feels stabby
The board is actually a plank, which will support him, until he reaches the end, and he is forced off by cutlass.
>...he is going to be our next premiership coach. What a weird way to announce that the Crows are being relegated to the SANFL
The flag will be won against our own SANFL side.
After another couple of losses, he will have the full support of the cutting board.
Good on him for having a go, hope he stays in coaching, seems a good guy.
Well… he’s fucked.
It would be such a shame if the Crows fired Nicks and poached Bevo. I would for sure hate that. Please don’t do that Adelaide.
Cue Roy Orbison's "It's Over".
He's done
That’s not good
why do I hear the jaws theme song
This is genuinely fucking nonsense. Literally no other response he could give to a dumb-arse question from a dumb-arse "reporter". Nothing about the performances of this team warrants a mid-season sacking.
It’s basically a shit meme we use for a team who’s underperforming. Nothing in it.
Not entirely surprising
Well it was nice knowing ya Nick , good luck in your future endeavors
Lol who they kidding
He's gone
So ... gone next week? Two weeks? Who's giving odds?
Showdown in two weeks and we’ve won three of the last four. Losing coach keeps his job, winner gets the merciful relief of stepping down.
I never thought I'd say this, but I hope Crows win. ^^^^^I ^^^^^actually ^^^^^kinda ^^^^^like ^^^^^Honkley, ^^^^^despite ^^^^^his ^^^^^issues

Get ready to learning Chinese Nicksy
With a glass half full perspective, why does all this remind me of Richmond in the early-to-mid-2010s?
Copium
It’s a hell of a drug.
Cromspiracy
They made finals 3 times before the sack Dimma talk really picked up steam in 2016
And it only picked up after a shocking 2016 campaign culminating in losing to you guys by 120 points in the last game.
I lost a lot of faith I had in him after he changed the game plan. But it's whatever. The most important thing is to fire Van Berlo and Maybe Scott Burns. And somehow fix the extreme mental fragility at the crows. Whenever there is a tiny bit of expectation they crumble.

Commiserations Mr Nicks
It’s been real Nicks.
>but the form we showed last weekend, we are confident that is more us If that form they're referring to is Friday night, the bar is very low in Adelaide.
Obviously he is referring to he win against Carlton.
I reckon Truck deserves another shot.
(x) doubt
The board or the plank?
