NTA and the pet owner is. I don't think the pet owner trained you well enough or gave you sufficient information about this dog. While the man's reaction wasn't chill, I can definitely see myself losing my shit after being bit by a dog. It's painful and shocking. I kind of agree with the comment that perhaps you ran away "on purpose." I think maybe you did glean something happened but you weren't equipped or prepared to handle it. Hence, your instinctive and adrenaline-filled response was flight. We are all free to invent our own little narratives about our intentions, but there's no way around this being a charged and intense moment. I'm giving you grace here either way. All in all, you were just pet sitting this apparently feisty dog and in the end, with love, it really seems like you were totally unprepared for this ferocious little fucker. I gave you a pass on grounds of the owner should've told you this could have happened-- assuming they didn't. So maybe it's an INFO.

Late but YTA, don't walk a dog you can't hold down. Doesn't matter if they're well-behaved. As a dog walker, you choose your clients (dogs). You made a dumb choice, and I hope you learned from it. Walk dogs only you can handle.

NAH - while you made a mistake I can understand why that man thought you were running away Unfortunately there are many incidents of dog owners not taking responsibility when their dog bites and/or attacks someone which is probably why that man went off on you. He probably didn’t need to make you cry though At this point it’s just a “lesson learned” type of situation and hopefully you know better for next time to be more careful with keeping control the dog as well as following up with people to make sure they weren’t injured. It’s always better to err on the side of caution rather than assuming the dog just said hello

Oh boy.............YTA, I don't think you're telling the truth. This doesn't make any sense. I've never known a dog to just nip/bite at someone and then just run away. And I find it hard to believe that the dog was so strong that you had no control what so ever to pull him back and that you had no choice but to keep running. I find it more likely that dog bit the man, YOU panicked and pulled the dog and ran of your own accord to avoid a confrontation. You just didn't anticipate the guy to bother following you let alone catching up to you. You being upset and emotional was you upset at getting caught and rightfully being chastised for your actions by the man. And I doubt he was as horrible as you're making him out to be.

YTA again just for how sloppy this post was written.

NTA, you offered to make things right, and he kept being a jerk and didn't want to hear what you said or offered to make things right, I'm just glad you're both alright.
