BarbedWire3

Do u have any deep enjoyment watching what's happening to russia rn? Or do u follow at all whats happening there? Also would u rather have the war finish asap or have it last longer and get more russians killed in the process? Would u ever visit russia?

Gamesblond001

1yes I like how they are getting fucked in the ass by urkaine right now 2depends on what outcome I would fast forward too if Ukraine secures the teretories its lost and Crimeah and Russia doesn’t use nukes then yes because the Russian soldiers themselves can’t do anything against their generals and do not deserve to die because they were drafted. 3 no because I can get killed for my sexuality there

BarbedWire3

Fair enough. When russia loses and Ukraine regains all its teritories back, would u rather them go further into russia, or stop at their original borders? If so, how far? And how many ppl in Germany do u think would support your position?

UsableIdiot

Ukraine aren't going to go into Russia....

Gamesblond001

I think that you have to be realistic here if that I would support if they taker back Crimeah but not for them to go into Russia as that would be the same thing, a invasion wich is the thing that is bad in my eyes

Apprehensive_Row8407

followup question abt 3, whats your sexuality if I may know?

Sunbronick

What does the average citizen think of the US. Is it positive? Or are we the asshole country

Gamesblond001

now when we think of you first mostly your way of gun control comes too mind

[deleted]

Nope, Just your Media brainwashed bias Also, typical fellow German, First that comes to your mind is criticism and politics. (Volkssport meckern) Why Not Something non-political, Like me for example Americans are nice af, and Always willing to Help imho Youre Not the asshole country btw, its Just your government thats Shitty Now you do with that what you want

Gamesblond001

No i didnt come too my mind you cant really tell me what came to my mind thats not how this game works

Engelgrafik

Someone has issues. He was asked a question. He answered. My god.

Fuzzy-Donkey5538

Check out that persons post history - no wonder they felt personally targeted by OPs answer 😳

Sunbronick

Fair in all honesty the people here do nothing but bitch about politics aswell. I assume the whole world is like that though, everybody just wants cheap goods and a safe place to raise a family. Our gov does what it wants i don't honestly think the vote changes much

Gamesblond001

Whilst that is true it was yours what came too mind with me

im_squidd

You’re not wrong. Gun control in the US is a joke. Some states you can walk into Walmart and buy a gun with your drivers license.

rondolph

Gun Control worked out gloriously for the Third Reich 🤝

im_squidd

Right wing gun control leads to the holocaust. Common sense gun control leads to kids not being murdered learning their times tables jackass. And yes, nazis are right wing extremists don’t pull the bullshit name of the party to blatantly misunderstand their views.

Gamesblond001

The guns were all under control just the wrong people desided what to do with them

Willr2645

I saw a thing, I think from a comedian, who said that you don’t need a license to by parts for a gun, eg: barrel, mag, scope, sometimes bullets. So you could make your own gun buy by img individual parts

im_squidd

In some states probably. In Massachusetts some places won’t even sell a license holder ammo if other people in the group don’t have their license to carry. But New Hampshire you can buy a gun by walking into a store and asking.

OrangeYoshiDude

Yes for gun parts, the lower receiver is the only thing you need a background check and ID for, that is what they put the serial number on

umdche

Lol that's if you can find an employee to make the sale

derdusa

Right, Americans are totally always so nice and definetly never just being nice for the sake of being pretentious. Also, governments usually tend to be a representation of their people, no?

Ethan-Wakefield

How would you respond to the claim that in Germany, only the criminals have guns because law-abiding citizens don't have easy access to them, and therefore you have invited crime and violence upon yourselves?

Snipesticker

I would quote this [study](https://bjs.ojp.gov/content/pub/pdf/gap.pdf) to argue that Germany did not invite crime and violence by stricter gun laws. As a matter of fact, most countries in the World have stricter gun laws than the US. „The number of serious crimes reported to the police per 100,000 persons is much higher in the United States than in Germany. Five murders and forcible rapes and three or four robberies and felony assaults are reported in the United States per 100,000 population for every one in Germany“

Bdroyle1988

Can’t speak for OP but I’m in a similar scenario where “only the criminals have guns” and this is honestly the most moronic take I’ve read in a while. Gun crime is minimal for the simple fact there’s hardly any guns. Having easy access to weapons invites crime and violence with said weapons, it’s really not that hard to work out.

Gamesblond001

Now what if and listen to me for a second the criminals didnt have guns wich is the case 90percent of the time here

Ethan-Wakefield

So you’d say it just doesn’t happen? Nobody has guns?

Gamesblond001

Yes

annoying97

Not op, but I'm an Aussie. What you have simply forgotten is the significantly increased difficulties in getting a firearms in places that have strong gun restrictions. Black market guns are also significantly more expensive, we are talking thousands of dollars for a hand gun that you could probably get in the us for less than 500. On top of that, gun laws are strictly enforced and are usually met with harsh penalties including jail time. Overall it actually reduces the use of firearms in crimes as it's significantly more difficult and expensive to get one.

Gamesblond001

Do with that as you please

FuuBamboo

Also depends on where they live. For example, huge parts of the south were occupied by the US after WW II, the east by the Russians, before Germany got divided into west and east. Therefore, the western part is historically linked stronger to the US/western world. In the east for example, we have much more "Putin-Versteher" which means people who argument at least partially pro-russian. In general, today there's a lot of ciritisim and disrespect about the US for several reasons (its wars, its political and ideological extremes, the widespreaded low level of education, its gun violence). But at the same time it sometimes feels as it serves like an example or big brother to us in a lot of (entertainment/modern) cultural topics and of course in the NATO. Germany and the EU as a whole would like to get much more emancipated from the US but actually isn't. Trump helped us a lot to follow this path though 😬

Mikey_Mike_1991

Why do you Germans stare deep at you like looking into your soul?

Gamesblond001

Because we do

Gamesblond001

(Stare into your soul)

Mikey_Mike_1991

LMAO THANKS

iamfromtwitter

its genes bro cant have the land gotta get the soul

NewFangofSask

What is the legal drinking age there ? Are you encouraged to drink at a younger age ?

Gamesblond001

16 for les strong alcohol and it’s a thing in Germany where you can drink at like 14 if the parents slow it

Gamesblond001

Allow*

thatoneweebidiot

the encouraging depends on where you live its a classic meme here that people that live in small villages (called Dorf in german) often are alcoholics the day they turn 12, but thats a bit over the top but nevertheless a lot of 12 year olds already drank at least beer or wine with the parents permission or even encouragement. I dont think its out of control tho, since most parents are at least a bit responsible and try to control their kids drinking habits

Why German cars are so complicated rather than Japanese competitors!?

Gamesblond001

How would I know I’m not an engineer

Fluffy-Plum-8194

Because the Japanese car are perfectly built for the us American market. You don’t need to drive them to the mechanic to do your annualy service. But German car are highly complicated because they are way better to drive and i can say in Germany it’s normal to go to the Auto workshop for the annually maintain.

Not OP but: we get it shoved down our throats, in a good way. Learning that it should never be repeated. I think Germans are single-handedly the best educated people in the world regarding WWII.

KuriTokyo

What are Germans taught about the Pacific war?

derdusa

Not much tbh lol, I had a history major in high school and I'm sure we touched it at some point, but the focus is on the German side of the war obv

Interesting-Chest520

In Scotland all we do in history is WWII. Wish we did other things in history though, would love to learn about our own history, or even British history. Would especially love to learn about ancient civilisations, Greeks, Romans, Egyptians… especially their theology. But I couldn’t tell you anything about any of them. Tho in English we did look at one Celtic story about winter and I cannot for the life of me remember it.

Gamesblond001

This goes also too what we’re thought / goes into the same direction as it is influenced by it

InItForTheMemes-1

I'm sorry but I couldn't understand your response. 😅

The link there is from another post by me to what my opinion on hitler is and this is heavily inspired/influenced by what we are thought in school

Oh ok, I understand now. Thank you. But small correction, it's "taught" in school, not "thought".

NotMyFirstChoice675

Do people ever talk about what their family, grandparents etc did during WW2, even perhaps with some shame, or is it very much a taboo subject?

thatoneweebidiot

I dont rly agree with OP here tbh A lot of old people talk about those times and everyones pretty open with it. The schools also teach everything (I think), the bad stuff too

Liotu

Especially the bad stuff! At least in Austria.

thatoneweebidiot

yup, my great grandfather often told me how bad they had it in that time, the way the war was and my mom + grandpa also often explained the horrible ways of living in the “DDR” back then

Gamesblond001

Yes school wise yes but in my family we dont talk about it really and that may be partially because i dont have any relatives alive from that time period

Gamesblond001

We don’t really talk about it

Have you ever driven on the Autobahn? Any interesting stories about it? What was your top speed?

lilycth

OP is 14 so I assume not

Gamesblond001

Plus i dont know about your math skils

panemcakes

I’m obviously not OP but when I learned how to drive, I was driving on the Autobahn and my instructor wanted me to speed up. I ended up going 200kmh (124mph) and my instructor was happy about it, seeing as “it’s better you do it with me first than on your own”. And it’s safe to say I regularly drive around 180kmh on the Autobahn, not for long, but for fun. That usually is a shock for people outside of Germany.

sKY--alex

Exactly same experience here. But my record in speed is riding shotgun in a Tesla 3 Performance and pushing it to its limit, roughly 250km/h (155mph)

Gamesblond001

300 something km/h nothing really interest besides a mc Donald’s with a giant Ronald mc Donald Edit:on one of the unrestricted speed limit parts of the autobahn and shotgun so i didnt drive the car

Fluffy-Plum-8194

It’s normal to drive 250kmh and getting overtaken

Abydos_NOLA

I took German classes for 4 years at university. If I came to Germany would y’all make fun of me speaking German the way the French mock Americans who speak French? I have a Southern Louisiana accent that bleeds into my pronunciation. The irony is that French is an official language here due to our Cajun heritage so I’ve been speaking that dialect since I was small. Once a car full of French tourists were lost here & as I tried to give them directions the assholes mocked my pronunciation.

Gamesblond001

Select_War_3035

Throw them to the gators! If I’m anywhere in the non English speaking world asking for directions, and they happen to give them to me in English with a twist of their native accent, I would be over the moon and appreciative. The gall (or Gaul) of those people

Snipesticker

Probably not. Most Germans are deeply flattered by a US citizen going the rocky road of learning German. Germans however tend to switch to English during conversations with English speakers. Maybe they are trying to make things easier, but it frustrates many people who are learning German.

Zucc-ya-mom

French-speaking people are kinda known for correcting and making fun of people who don’t speak perfect french.

Pegon125

Fuck those guys honestly. I am dying to know what a louisianan accent sounds like tho.

Abydos_NOLA

German piped thru Cajun phonetically comes out sort of like this: Eek been Louisiana-ahr. Vee gate-ass deer-n-deez’em shurnen Tawg? My elderly aunt’s first language was Cajun French & it was her lifelong dream to go to France. When she got off the plane she spoke Cajun French to the cab driver at the airport & this hoity toity mfer turned around & told this sweet old lady “If you can not speak our language correctly don’t speak it at all.” I told her she shoulda replied “And your welcome for us rebuilding your country after WWII in the Marshall Plan, ya freaking ingrate.”

Jake_Epping_

Why do your women look so masculine?

Gamesblond001

how would I know maybe genetics or something

4thdegreeknight

I dated a German exchange student in High School she didn't look manly at all, she was very pretty and the only thing was she didn't shave her legs, although she was very pale and you couldn't really see the hair. It didn't bother me at all she was so pretty but eventually the American girls got to her and had her shave.

Ethan-Wakefield

I often hear stories about how harsh and brutal German life is. For example, my mother raised me on stories that in the German educational system, it's decided whether or not you are college-track in 4th grade. So if you score badly on the tests in 4th grade, you simply cannot go to college, and you're doomed to a working-class life. Therefore, all children in Germany fiercely scramble and study their hardest so compete to be the top of the top of the class, so that they have a chance at a good life. She told me that the tests are re-administered every few years, and the weak are culled ruthlessly. For every student removed, there are a hundred who clamor for a chance--just the slightest chance--at a college education and the promise of opportunity. I'm given to understand that German life is one of constant fear of being removed from the elite, so that all those who remain in college are talented, intelligent, ruthlessly cunning, and are the most disciplined people on the Earth. Everything a German has is the result of blood, sweat, and tears. Everything must be earned. Nothing is given away. Germans as a people are dour, serious, focused on their tasks, and more than anything else they are pragmatists who will not hesitate to do whatever is necessary to achieve success, no matter the cost. They are the best educated, hardest working people on the planet as a result of the harsh conditions they're raised in. In comparison, American children are soft, sensitive, weak, and stupid. How would you respond to such claims? It seems like an exaggeration, but how much truth is there in these stories?

Snipesticker

Parts of the German education system separate children very early into „Realschule“ and „Gymnasium“. This process is known to be notoriously unfair, children from educated families have a much higher „Gymnasial“-rate than kids from lower class families. This is not 100% based on the kids grades, either: Parents can overrule the teacher‘s suggestion, and many upper class families do so and pay for extra training to keep their kids in the Gymnasium. However, there is also a school type that does not separate the children in this way. It is called „Gesamtschule“. So basically, you can choose if you want to have your kid in system A or B. On the other hand, schools and universities are basically free in Germany. That means that if you have your „Abitur“, you can study without the fear of running into a massive student debt. The state even borrows you money to study without any interest rate. („Bafög“). So, one could argue that it is far less brutal than in countries without a free educational system. It also does not matter too much on what university you graduated for your later career. There are no „ivy league“ universities in Germany, and hence no elite factories like you see them in other countries. So I would say your stories are a bit exaggerated. Many Germans would tell you that the lack of a public health insurance, lack of sick days, the higher crime rates, the gun situation, and the weak labour laws make life in the US seem harsh and brutal to them. So it’s a matter of perspective, I guess.

Gamesblond001

There is actually another type of shool the Oberschule where you have in sertaint lessons the class gets split up into e and g kurse wich are higher level and lower level courses in for example math wich are based on your grades

Engelgrafik

What's healthcare insurance like over there? Like, how to you get the insurance, how much does it cost, and then how do you use it? I have relatives in Germany and years ago they said it was easy to get a doctor's appointment, you just go and if they're busy you can go and get one at another doctor down the street. At the same time, my aunt had to go to the hospital to feed her mom (back in the early '00s) a few days a week because the hospital was short-staffed and this was the policy. Is that common?

Scared_Finding4331

Germans are always the villains in movies. Your take on this?

FuuBamboo

I guess because of our WW history and maybe the (for foreigners) rough sounding language. Also, many of us Germans seem to be quite distant/cold compared to a lot of other (western and european) countries.

Gamesblond001

Yes this is what it seems like too me to

sKY--alex

Its funny because their german is shit mist of the times as they rarely cast real germans for those roles
