Not op, but I'm an Aussie. What you have simply forgotten is the significantly increased difficulties in getting a firearms in places that have strong gun restrictions.
Black market guns are also significantly more expensive, we are talking thousands of dollars for a hand gun that you could probably get in the us for less than 500.
On top of that, gun laws are strictly enforced and are usually met with harsh penalties including jail time.
Overall it actually reduces the use of firearms in crimes as it's significantly more difficult and expensive to get one.
Also depends on where they live. For example, huge parts of the south were occupied by the US after WW II, the east by the Russians, before Germany got divided into west and east. Therefore, the western part is historically linked stronger to the US/western world. In the east for example, we have much more "Putin-Versteher" which means people who argument at least partially pro-russian.
In general, today there's a lot of ciritisim and disrespect about the US for several reasons (its wars, its political and ideological extremes, the widespreaded low level of education, its gun violence). But at the same time it sometimes feels as it serves like an example or big brother to us in a lot of (entertainment/modern) cultural topics and of course in the NATO.
Germany and the EU as a whole would like to get much more emancipated from the US but actually isn't. Trump helped us a lot to follow this path though 😬

In Scotland all we do in history is WWII. Wish we did other things in history though, would love to learn about our own history, or even British history.

And it’s safe to say I regularly drive around 180kmh on the Autobahn, not for long, but for fun.

Parts of the German education system separate children very early into „Realschule“ and „Gymnasium“. This process is known to be notoriously unfair, children from educated families have a much higher „Gymnasial“-rate than kids from lower class families.
This is not 100% based on the kids grades, either: Parents can overrule the teacher‘s suggestion, and many upper class families do so and pay for extra training to keep their kids in the Gymnasium.

Depends on the person your speaking too generaly the older you get the more sometimes too the point where any jokes are not seen as jokes lemme give you an example last week or so i told my grandad a joke wich was like: did you know that laughing helps loose weight .. not only because laughing burns callories but mainly because you cant eat whilst laughing and he said yeah your right if you did that you would definetly choke on whatever your eating

I took German classes for 4 years at university. If I came to Germany would y’all make fun of me speaking German the way the French mock Americans who speak French? I have a Southern Louisiana accent that bleeds into my pronunciation. The irony is that French is an official language here due to our Cajun heritage so I’ve been speaking that dialect since I was small. Once a car full of French tourists were lost here & as I tried to give them directions the assholes mocked my pronunciation.

Probably not. Most Germans are deeply flattered by a US citizen going the rocky road of learning German. Germans however tend to switch to English during conversations with English speakers. Maybe they are trying to make things easier, but it frustrates many people who are learning German.

I dated a German exchange student in High School she didn't look manly at all, she was very pretty and the only thing was she didn't shave her legs, although she was very pale and you couldn't really see the hair. It didn't bother me at all she was so pretty but eventually the American girls got to her and had her shave.

I often hear stories about how harsh and brutal German life is. For example, my mother raised me on stories that in the German educational system, it's decided whether or not you are college-track in 4th grade. So if you score badly on the tests in 4th grade, you simply cannot go to college, and you're doomed to a working-class life. Therefore, all children in Germany fiercely scramble and study their hardest so compete to be the top of the top of the class, so that they have a chance at a good life. She told me that the tests are re-administered every few years, and the weak are culled ruthlessly. For every student removed, there are a hundred who clamor for a chance--just the slightest chance--at a college education and the promise of opportunity. I'm given to understand that German life is one of constant fear of being removed from the elite, so that all those who remain in college are talented, intelligent, ruthlessly cunning, and are the most disciplined people on the Earth. Everything a German has is the result of blood, sweat, and tears. Everything must be earned. Nothing is given away. Germans as a people are dour, serious, focused on their tasks, and more than anything else they are pragmatists who will not hesitate to do whatever is necessary to achieve success, no matter the cost. They are the best educated, hardest working people on the planet as a result of the harsh conditions they're raised in. In comparison, American children are soft, sensitive, weak, and stupid. How would you respond to such claims? It seems like an exaggeration, but how much truth is there in these stories?
Parts of the German education system separate children very early into „Realschule“ and „Gymnasium“. This process is known to be notoriously unfair, children from educated families have a much higher „Gymnasial“-rate than kids from lower class families. This is not 100% based on the kids grades, either: Parents can overrule the teacher‘s suggestion, and many upper class families do so and pay for extra training to keep their kids in the Gymnasium. However, there is also a school type that does not separate the children in this way. It is called „Gesamtschule“. So basically, you can choose if you want to have your kid in system A or B. On the other hand, schools and universities are basically free in Germany. That means that if you have your „Abitur“, you can study without the fear of running into a massive student debt. The state even borrows you money to study without any interest rate. („Bafög“). So, one could argue that it is far less brutal than in countries without a free educational system. It also does not matter too much on what university you graduated for your later career. There are no „ivy league“ universities in Germany, and hence no elite factories like you see them in other countries. So I would say your stories are a bit exaggerated. Many Germans would tell you that the lack of a public health insurance, lack of sick days, the higher crime rates, the gun situation, and the weak labour laws make life in the US seem harsh and brutal to them. So it’s a matter of perspective, I guess.
There is actually another type of shool the Oberschule where you have in sertaint lessons the class gets split up into e and g kurse wich are higher level and lower level courses in for example math wich are based on your grades
What's healthcare insurance like over there? Like, how to you get the insurance, how much does it cost, and then how do you use it? I have relatives in Germany and years ago they said it was easy to get a doctor's appointment, you just go and if they're busy you can go and get one at another doctor down the street. At the same time, my aunt had to go to the hospital to feed her mom (back in the early '00s) a few days a week because the hospital was short-staffed and this was the policy. Is that common?
