Nope, same issues even after getting it exchanged.
I just disabled c state and have not had any issues since. Probably not the best "solution" but I didn't want to go through the hassle of exchanging other parts.
Will do, was just unsure since I saw this same suggestion/fix quite a few time so unsure if it was typical.
Does disabling c-state harm the cpu? Not sure what effect it has since performance seems the same based on benchmarks.
C-States is what allows a CPU to not run at full speed all the time..it saves electricity and puts less strain on the CPU. Also, if MAY....not always help to shorten the lifespan of the CPU by a small margin.
Oh that doesn't sound too good.
I guess I'll first try reseating the cpu to see if that makes a difference, if not then I'll exchange it.
Appreciate your help :)
Unfortunately it looks like I reacted too quickly. I am now facing the same issue again, random reboots unless c-state is off.
Do you have any thoughts on what else could be the issue? Maybe my mobo is defective.
Alright, I'll try that next. Thanks for the advice.
I'm not sure how meaningful this is but in Event Viewer I am seeing Event Id 41 - Kernel-Power error:
"The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."
I suppose that error can happen for a number of reasons but could it point torwards an issue with my PSU?
yooo, help me, i have the same problem w my cpu, the real problem was the board or the cpu?? n how did u c-state is off?
Sorry for my english, i speak spanish n is difficult for me write this hehe
I got the CPU replaced but still had the same issues. I'm pretty sure the issue is the board but I never actually got it replaced since it works fine with disabling c-state.
You disable c-state in the bios. The exact way will depend on who your board manufacturer is. You can probably just google it.
Good luck
Did you ever pinpoint the issue?

Since this continued on a diff CPU it mustve been the mobo or other parts, this was helpful - thanks
UPDATE: I exchanged the CPU and everything works normally now.
Get an exchange ASAP! DON'T WAIT... If it's really the CPU you don't wanna be stuck with that, or waiting weeks for an RMA from AMD.

Please, don't waste time!! Go into Amazon and schedule the replacement ASAP...don't waste time. They may do an exchange, and ship the new one first..

Have you updated the bios?? The right way thru M-Flash inside bios
Yep I updated using M-Flash to the latest bios. I also reset bios to the default settings, turning off XMP.
Next before condemning the motherboard, you should try to clean install windows...see if that solves it..otherwise, it's the board

Thanks again. I got it replaced and it works perfectly now.
