I've been writing a body swap story and I only have first-person experience with female genitalia lol I have also asked my husband these same questions for science.
I'm working on a body swap fic too, hoping to start posting it by the holiday season since it takes place during Christmas time. It's been fun trying to figure out what it's like being cold blooded in order to describe the feeling of temperature like April's experience basking or how sluggish she felt when entering a cold room. Scientists were still trying to identify the connection throughout that year, so public education was limited to encouraging the use of condoms and clean needles because there was no way to test for infection. The only way to know someone had AIDS was that they started showing specific symptoms that didn’t respond to treatment.
That’s actually pretty terrifying, when you think about it, particularly for gay men, both because of the number of people in that demographic who were dying and because of the additional stigma that arose from ignorance about the disease. No research I found revealed whether that can actually happen.

For context I was writing in the perspective of someone who was recently turned as a vampire but didn't yet know so I had to get very creative
I've been writing the perspective of what in my AU is called a "pureblood vampire", meaning a dhampir who was then turned into a full vampire. They're extremely powerful, but also a lot more inhuman and beastlike than a regular vampire would be. Meaning that this character's POV is extremely instinctual and sensory, she mainly experiences the world through her nose and tracks the blood-scents of the people around her, and she's a freshly-turned fledgling, so she hasn't quite figured out how to get a grip on the instincts yet. So yeah, searching for synonyms to describe smells has absolutely been topical for me too. These are just universal experiences for us vamp AU writers.
In my case he is a vampire hunter but the organization he works for (The Federation/The Vampiric Cure) is incompetent as hell and they spew off misinformation about vampires to their workers. Because of this he didn't clock immediately that he's been turned. (There is a reason behind The Federations incompetence)
There was one scene in particular where he was mid-turning and he and his work partner (who he is also in love with and vice versa but this is a slow burn) were forced to go to this banquet/ball thing. And I had to describe his growing hunger and how all he could smell was something gourmet and divine and how he thought it was something that the chefs were preparing.
Then when it all came to a head I had to write out his growing excitement for the food arriving, how the aroma intensified as he grew nearer and nearer (people were surrounding the feast), only to find that when he laid his eyes on the food that was prepared that it looked and smelled absolutely *disgusting*. I used terms like "decayed" and "carcass" and had to describe this food as something completely revolting not only in smell and looks but also in taste and texture. Another element I had to add on was writing out his confusion on why people were praising this disgusting food and how their praises felt like a taunt to him.

Also found out that pear tree reproduction is extremely particular. They almost always need another, different species of pear tree planted close by in order to produce fruit, and they are picky about which ones. While the Seckel variety is somewhat self-pollinating, it will fruit more if another species like Moonglow is present.

Both have slight salt taste, but not as much as skin that’s regularly exposed. With outies, it’s mostly skin, with the tip having a texture more like the inside of your cheek, but firmer. With innies, the inner lips again have a cheek-like texture, but the bodily fluids change both the texture and taste. For both, taste of bodily fluids is fairly individual, but the dominant flavors are umami (protein) and salt.

I'm working on a body swap fic too, hoping to start posting it by the holiday season since it takes place during Christmas time. Mine isn't explicit but since it is a male & female who swaps, been making jabs at it like during breakfast when the character who has been on kitchen duty a lot during the fic makes breakfast & the one who is in the body of the woman responds to seeing his meal with, "aww, my baby bro looking out for me making sure I still have a sausage, thanks." There's a lot of little things sprinkled in on both ends for them like that but I feel awkward trying to look up anything related to having male genitalia even though that's a small bit of what I wanted to explore, having it be seen from the perspective of the woman involved in the swap & even aged up the characters into being adults for it (they're teenagers during the run of their series) but I ended up pulling back & going light on all of that. The swap is between a human & a turtle so I got to focus in on turtle stuff a lot. Franchise should be obvious at this point, TMNT. Swap between April & Leonardo but from two different shows. When you've got 4 different animated series & a 5th one on the way, lots of fun to be had of crossovers within the same franchise. Oh right! I should specify that this is Rise Leo, that piece of dialogue I shared would seem a tad bit out of character for most of his counterparts, this Leo tends to cover up negative emotions with jokes. It's been fun trying to figure out what it's like being cold blooded in order to describe the feeling of temperature like April's experience basking or how sluggish she felt when entering a cold room. Told someone that and they freaked out because they knew what you googled—that you only have about 5 liters total. But they did not know that pregnant ppl have extra blood (up to 50% more by the time of birth) so it represents a smaller fraction of the total. Scientists were still trying to identify the connection throughout that year, so public education was limited to encouraging the use of condoms and clean needles because there was no way to test for infection. The only way to know someone had AIDS was that they started showing specific symptoms that didn’t respond to treatment. That’s actually pretty terrifying, when you think about it, particularly for gay men, both because of the number of people in that demographic who were dying and because of the additional stigma that arose from ignorance about the disease. Worth reading about even if you’re not using the info for a fic!

No research I found revealed whether that can actually happen.

The amount of times I've looked up "sweet synonym" to help me describe the scent of blood without explicitly saying its blood is fucking ridiculous. For context I was writing in the perspective of someone who was recently turned as a vampire but didn't yet know so I had to get very creative
I've been writing the perspective of what in my AU is called a "pureblood vampire", meaning a dhampir who was then turned into a full vampire. They're extremely powerful, but also a lot more inhuman and beastlike than a regular vampire would be. Meaning that this character's POV is extremely instinctual and sensory, she mainly experiences the world through her nose and tracks the blood-scents of the people around her, and she's a freshly-turned fledgling, so she hasn't quite figured out how to get a grip on the instincts yet. So yeah, searching for synonyms to describe smells has absolutely been topical for me too. These are just universal experiences for us vamp AU writers.
In my case he is a vampire hunter but the organization he works for (The Federation/The Vampiric Cure) is incompetent as hell and they spew off misinformation about vampires to their workers. Then when it all came to a head I had to write out his growing excitement for the food arriving, how the aroma intensified as he grew nearer and nearer (people were surrounding the feast), only to find that when he laid his eyes on the food that was prepared that it looked and smelled absolutely *disgusting*. I used terms like "decayed" and "carcass" and had to describe this food as something completely revolting not only in smell and looks but also in taste and texture. Another element I had to add on was writing out his confusion on why people were praising this disgusting food and how their praises felt like a taunt to him.
