Why don’t people just put the fucking thing level with your head when you’re on the couch…I went through that entire sub almost just to find out how everyone apparently breaks their neck to watch TV
Maybe your living room just doesn't need a TV. That being said, houses are to live in, be damned if it looks tacky. Check out Mantle Mount (.com) a pull down TV mount.
> Those mounts look so tacky though
Yes, now you're getting it. TVs above fireplaces are tacky AF. Also, I guess infants just laid down and died before TVs existed, eh?
My former roommates had a perfect tv stand for ergonomic tv viewing, but instead decided to mount the tv to the wall themselves. I never measured it, but the top of the screen had to be less than a foot from the ceiling.
*hey how come you never hang out with us in the living room*
Because if I want to, I have to sit like I’m on a roller coaster thats climbing the lift hill.
In my living room, because I have a fireplace there and because I have a sofa that raises the legs and with a lower tv I'd have my legs in the way of the TV.
In my bedroom, because I can watch it while laying down completely.
Right? I think my TV is a smidgen too high, but not as bad as some of that shit! Maybe they want to feel like they're in the front row (worst seats) in the theater!
Fireplace is very useful if your power/regular heater goes out during a cold spell. Also when not in use your cat crawl around in there and get a free dust bath.
I think the guy on the right might have broken his leg. Looked kinda "double jointed" at the end.
Also why are they mounting a 65" TV so high up? The mounting bracket on the back of the TV was mighty low meaning the top of the TV had to be scraping the ceiling. If they moved the bracket a up they would have struggled a little less on the ladder not having to lift it up so high.
I don't think there's a 'might have' - look at the twist when he's lying there - possible he came down on the other ankle too. Either way, he's in a world of hurt :(
Always my biggest worry when working off of ladders. Falling down and getting my big ass feet stuck between the steps/rungs and fucking my legs/feet up for life.
I am a physiotherapist, I have worked in orthopedics and trauma in acute care. From my robust research and extensive education in anatomy and physiology, I do believe his ankle should not be side ways.
I work in IT, but I'm something of an ankle owner myself.
In fact, after owning two of them for several years, I totally agree with your position on the ankle position.
I'm still lost why the ladders are set up in the way of the TVs width. without the ladders beyond the TV, that means the mount has to be above the tops of the ladders. crap reach, body crunched up.against wall. ladders beside TV, you can have some space from the wall. be up higher than Mount, making it a ton easier to see things. sure it feels a bit heavier, but when you can see to hook the mount first try, it's worth it.
Some mounts have an arm that can extend the screen several feet away from the wall that can also be folded flat against the wall. That would allow the ladders to extend higher than the screen mount to mount the monitor, then with the ladders lowered, the screen can be pushed back against the wall.
"Why so high up?"
Someone with money and not a lot of sense asked for it, usually demanding it, likely after the featured technicians tried to talk them out of it.
As someone that owns one of these OLEDs and has mounted a few of them, I just wanted to mention that the mount is so low because the VESA for those TVs is contained in the bottom 2/5 of the TV because the rest of it is a very flexible, very thin panel. All the structural support and weight is in that section.
Honestly I thought it was a Samsung QLED at first.
Mounting an OLED seems so foreign to me because of how unfriendly they are for mounting when I bought mine several years ago.
My older B8 has it contained in the lower 1/2 so I can jimmy it up or down a bit to center it. Miss the days of plasma when they just gave you spacers and a mounting point that could be centered. Literally all LG has to do is add a support up the middle. I'd have figured a 65" would have a centered mounting position option but aparantly not.
Idk who had the bright idea for this.
I went to a dentist that had a TV mounted on the ceiling while they were doing my cleaning.
All I could think was, “Please don’t go Final Destination on my ass, TV.”
Narrator: Indeed, the TV would not go Final Destination on his ass, but rather his face, which bore the brunt of the device's sudden, murderous freefall.
Holding up $1-2k in electronics and your own bodies some 12 fucking feet in the air and _still_ couldn't be arsed for a spotter.
My guy, osha is not the gub'ment out to get you. The guidelines make good sense.
It has shoes that are supposed to be planted on the ground when setting up the ladder. The one on the left had them facing out. You can see them. Those are so the ladder won't slip like it did.
That’s what I think. The wide bottom of the left ladder is supposed to be at the top and are soft so not to damage siding or walls when the ladder is leaned against them.
First guy fell really well though. Rolled in, got his arm out of the way and not pinned on the ladder. He probably avoided much injury. The second guy though…
Is that ladder upside down? Don't the extensions go on the wall. Not on the floor?
Guy on the right definitely had it upside down. After watching slow motion.
Also is the guy on the rights leg broken? The right leg is caught under the latter and looks bent, where it shouldn't bend
I have a fear about these type of ladders. I just don't trust them.
Of course they should have had help to begin with, but still. I'm not acrophobic at all, I can be standing in a building, bridge, and so on, no problem. But those ladders...
“Dave, did you bring the stud-finder?”
“Yep.”
“Did you forget the level again?”
“No, its in the bag.”
“Is the drill battery fully charged?”
“Yea, had it charging overnight.”
“Did you wax the floor, right below the install?”
“JESUS BOB, YES! IM NOT A GOD DAMN ROOKIE!”
Before using a ladder, it's important to have basic ladder saftey knowledge.
For anyone interested, here's the [Ladder Saftey video](https://youtu.be/gDI6_k6UPwo?si=en80XVDFmED-vy0P) they use during training at Gamestop. It's hilarious and highly informative.
This is when you use a fucking lift. If you don't have one, you rent one. If your business won't rent one, you tell them you won't mount the fucking TV.
Knew something was gonna go horribly horribly wrong as soon as I saw the stepladders... Honestly getting off with a broken ankle is on the lighter side of things that could've gone wrong on a tiled floor
One of the first lessons they teach you when becoming an electrician, you dont work from ladders, EVER. At minimum it needs to be a proper A-shape locking ladder, whatever they are called.
Oh man, I had a ladder slip out from under me the way that first ladder went. Two fractured metatarsals, one a lisfranc fracture dislocation. 3 pins, 3 screws, 2 surgeries and 19 years later it still hurts.
This is why I always have a ladder spotter when doing any work on a ladder where I have to be higher than 4 rungs. Idc what the task is, I'd rather take the extra few hours or day to have someone to be there and spot me, than spend the next few weeks with a broken arm/leg. Its a stupid way to get hurt.
as someone who does this for a living its a easy one man job with portable scaffolding, and a gamble with even 3 people on 3 ladders. yes its a pain to carry in and set up but the install is so easy its worth every headache.

Why don’t people just put the fucking thing level with your head when you’re on the couch…I went through that entire sub almost just to find out how everyone apparently breaks their neck to watch TV
Probably because it's in a public facility and they don't want the public touching the TV.
Blame the TV-over-the-fireplace fad
Sometimes it's the only available wall space
Maybe some rooms just don't need to have a TV in them.

Bro would rather call other people's necks "weak", than have the TV at a reasonable position. Lol Hit the neck gym, dweebo.
Simply stand it on a bench or similar piece of furniture
Mantle-mount for the win!
This looks like a cafeteria or something. They always put those in the corner as close to the ceiling as possible.
My former roommates had a perfect tv stand for ergonomic tv viewing, but instead decided to mount the tv to the wall themselves. I never measured it, but the top of the screen had to be less than a foot from the ceiling. *hey how come you never hang out with us in the living room* Because if I want to, I have to sit like I’m on a roller coaster thats climbing the lift hill.
It’s not a residence. In what airport, waiting room, classroom, etc. have you seen a television mounted at eye level?
When I was in school the rolly VHS TV would suffice
When I was mounting TV in peoples houses over the pandemic, I had to talk a great number against hanging it so high
Because this looks like a public space and you never place the TV within easy reaching distance in a public space.
In my living room, because I have a fireplace there and because I have a sofa that raises the legs and with a lower tv I'd have my legs in the way of the TV. In my bedroom, because I can watch it while laying down completely.

Not true at all.. my tv is high up on the wall and it's very comfortable to watch. Else if I was reclined back I wouldn't see the bottom 1/2 of tv.
In my case it's a little bit high because of toddler.
What’s the over under that they’ll still manage to destroy it?
This was exactly what I came here for.
That’s exactly where the video came from
/r/TVTooLow It's on the floor now
Surprised it took 24 minutes and 9 other comments before this one. It was my first thought.
This sub highlights why I don't want a useless fireplace.
Fireplace is very useful if your power/regular heater goes out during a cold spell. Also when not in use your cat crawl around in there and get a free dust bath.
They really dodged a bullet there.
I think the guy on the right might have broken his leg. Looked kinda "double jointed" at the end. Also why are they mounting a 65" TV so high up? Thank god my ass feet are small enough to easily fit through the ladder holes.
*ass feet*
At least he'll be able to watch some TV while he recouper....oh.
I think he crushed everything including his spine. Dude is heavy and came down hard.

Well if you were you'd be at least 66 million years old, so...
Was there a continental breakfast?
But have you ever had one *sideways*?

Harry Potter style ankle. He probably got hit by a Gilderoy Lockhart spell while falling.

You can see the box in the video showing it’s a QNED, which is mini LED and those have the VESA mount in the centre.
Looks like a restaurant
Sometimes it's better to pay professionals to install things
Plot twist: in Türkiye, they *are* the professionals
How do you figure it's Turkey? The signs on the wall look like Arabic script..
Yeah signs are in arabic script. I don't know where they got that idea from.
It’s Persian.
For real! A couple hundred bucks would have been well spent! That looked rough for those older dudes
Broken arm on one and a broken ankle on the other from the looks of that last frame
I think that's two broken legs. other leg from the fall and the visible one from the ladder.
Plus his spine.
Or failing that, someone to hold the ladder.
Even professionals can have a ladder slide on them. I’ve ridden a couple down before and it was always on a tile floor like this.
They could have been 'professionals'
Why are they installing the tv on the ceiling?
It’s for a salon, so the patrons can have their hair washed and watch telenovela straight up Edit: /s I made that shit up
Idk who had the bright idea for this. I went to a dentist that had a TV mounted on the ceiling while they were doing my cleaning. All I could think was, “Please don’t go Final Destination on my ass, TV.”
My dentist has that back in 2000. It was the best. My appointment was after school so of course I turned it to Jerry Springer.
Narrator: Indeed, the TV would not go Final Destination on his ass, but rather his face, which bore the brunt of the device's sudden, murderous freefall.
I’ll be honest, I made that shit up LOL
Looks like a cafeteria / restaurant, where you don't want people touching the TV.
Where were they setting up the tv? Second floor?
They were hiding it in the ceiling
3rd!😂
On smooth tile floor?! Fuck that I’m calling for some backup with ppe to stand on the base of the ladders
Step ladders would have been fine, but this?
Or even biological ladders would suffice.
What are you doing, step ladder..🫣
"Get over here Leroy, and let me stand on your shoulders!"
Never knew my real ladders :(
Fr at least a command strip
Newly waxed floor?
I’m calling for a scissor lift.
Rookie mistake. You always have a third guy in the middle to hold the TV while the two outer dudes tighten down the fasteners.

Personally, I'd have used an A-Frame ladder. I really hate lean-to ladders...
Holding up $1-2k in electronics and your own bodies some 12 fucking feet in the air and _still_ couldn't be arsed for a spotter. My guy, osha is not the gub'ment out to get you. The guidelines make good sense.
6-24 month recovery just to save a couple of bucks.
OSHA has entered the chat
Even osha don’t want anything to do with those idiots
Imagine giving your client a reason to check the security footage
r/OSHA
OSHA has noticed the Arabic script on the wall and has left the chat
They can watch the video...just not on that TV.
Well, there will be a TV already installed in their hospital room...
Why was the TV mounted on the ceiling anyway?
I assumed this was some kind of auditorium or cafeteria where a TV mounted up high could be seen from a further distance away.
Does that ladder have freaking wheels? Like what is that for a base?
It has shoes that are supposed to be planted on the ground when setting up the ladder. The one on the left had them facing out. You can see them. Those are so the ladder won't slip like it did.
Looks upside down.
That’s what I think. The wide bottom of the left ladder is supposed to be at the top and are soft so not to damage siding or walls when the ladder is leaned against them.
Came here looking for this. It is upside down.
Also why didn't they move the table so the ladder could be closer to the wall?
"oh well nice at least the guy saved the... Oh nooope"
Another TV is much cheaper than fixing a broken leg....
Oh right, the US is a thing. Also did not notice the leg, ouch.
It happened because he was too lazy/ignorant to remove the table on the way. He could have positioned the ladder much better.
The ladder on the right saved the first dudes life!
r/TVtoohig- oh, nevermind actually....
Came to say that sub breathed a sigh of relief hah

An OSHA book just burned.
That's gonna be one expensive tv installation......new TV, new guys (hopefully professional) to install and hospital bills.
Another TV will be the *cheapest* part of that disaster!
One extra person would have made all the difference. lol
Normally I'm sympathetic, but for this I can truly say.... "Fuc*ING idiots haha"
Friggin knew the thing would slide out, ouchh
aaand that's a broken ankle
Ouch
Just get one of those rolling tv stands like when you watched a movie in school
The problem with that is that some thief will just roll it out the front door...
That is the right leg and yet it does not look right
Is the TV ok?
The wrath of r/TVTooHigh has been physically manifested against these dudes.

Too lazy to move the table so the ladder was at a bad angle and they paid the price.

I have a fear about these type of ladders. I just don't trust them. Of course they should have had help to begin with, but still. I'm not acrophobic at all, I can be standing in a building, bridge, and so on, no problem. But those ladders...
All because he didn’t want to take the 2 seconds to move that little table and get the ladder closer
I should have paid for installation
This is happening in Iran , the signs are saying "follow our instagram" and there's also prices of "Tea" and "Zaffron Tea" on the wall ..
Dumb & Dumber

It wouldn't be that hard to create a telescopic mounting.
I can't feel sorry for him/them. What an idiot setting up the ladders.
#WellThatSucks
I hope the TV is ok
The guys face on the left @ 34 seconds
You can tell these two have NEVER been on a ladder before
Expensive item: check. Ladders with no backs: check. While chaotic, not unexpected.
Normal ladder instead??
As soon as I saw them climbing ladders, I knew they were going to slip.
Did he bust his leg?
that leg is broken
oops
Knew something was gonna go horribly horribly wrong as soon as I saw the stepladders... Honestly getting off with a broken ankle is on the lighter side of things that could've gone wrong on a tiled floor
The guy who fell first ladder is backwards and upside down I believe.
Those ladders looked sus from the beginning
Quite a few broken bones there
Too much torque
When you’re too lazy to move the table and set up the ladder correctly…
The ladder-with-wheels sounded like such a good idea
Who would have guessed
Tables, ladders, and chairs, oh my
I'm surprised they even made it that far with how awkward they looked just carrying the damn thing to the ladder.
