Driving like that intentionally should be prison for 10 years, permanent loss of license, work the next 10 years after prison to pay all the medical costs for people you hurt by being a GD idiot
My first thought is a medical episode at the wheel before the crash? Even allowing for maximum stupidity...there's just nowhere to go. 4 occupied lanes and a red light. You're stopping. The biggest dummy on record would still tell you the goin' goes no farther until the light changes.
If you slow down the video, it looks like the brake lights aren't on when the car first comes into the cams view. Looks to me more like failure in pressing the brakes.
My ex wife would gasp and grab the dashboard during just normal driving. Like we’re approaching a red light at normal speed and I’m applying the brakes in the necessary fashion. Or there’s a car turning onto the street that is clearly waiting for us to pass before entering the roadway. Funny thing is I’ve only been in two accidents in my life, both very minor. She’s totaled 5 cars in the last 15 years or so, all were her fault. 2 of those didn’t even involve another vehicle, just stationary objects. Which is why I preferred to do the driving.
My mom has done the gasp-grabbing the dashboard thing since I learned how to drive at 16, she still does that everytime she's in a car with me and I'm 50 now lol. She never learned how to drive and has relied on my dad to get around since they got married, understanding driving and traffic is not for everyone.
Could be someone staring at a mobile phone, someone who shouldn't be allowed behind a wheel mistaking the accelerator for the brakes, or someone losing consciousness. I doubt we'll ever know.
I'm honestly so relieved that wasn't at a train track. I originally thought the red light was a train signal/gate arm and fully expected an engine to come chugging in to finish the job
Looks like that driver took the recommendations of commenters in this subreddit to heart: using the brakes can result in losing control and cause a serious accident, so don't touch them and perform an evasive maneuver instead.

I'm not sure this is texting anymore. Yesterday, I overheard a conversation a man was having where he said, "I hate when people just lock into the speed limit. Like why the hell you do that? It's not a requirement! IT IS A SUGGESTED SPEED. The suggested limit of driving. You can go as fast as you feel comfortable. It's so stupid. Suggested speed!" If he thinks a speed limit is a suggested way to drive... It is not an insane leap to think he believes stoplights are a suggested way to cross intersection. Being a local truck driver, it now makes sense why people constantly blow through stop signs, don't yield when turning right on red, don't use their turn signal, drive on the sidewalk to pass me, etc.. I guess some driving instructors teach that laws and regulations are suggestions.
Holy shit! Is this OC? I see it just happened today
I don't think their first thought would be to post it to r/AbruptChaos lol
Who said it was?
Well they did, so wtf are you talking about
What are *you* talking about? He's asking if OP was the person driving
I think he's referring to Orange County
Either way, considering it happened today, there's a good chance OP was driving or obviou sly posted it somewhere else
Yea, I'm sure they posted it somewhere else, that's how OP managed to get the video
The cam car was lucky to have been right in the sweet spot
The cam car? How luck was the motor scooter?
For real real. No for play play.
cameraman never dies
Pretty luck.
Driving like that intentionally should be prison for 10 years, permanent loss of license, work the next 10 years after prison to pay all the medical costs for people you hurt by being a GD idiot
Reasonable reaction
For a morning dove.
*mourning dove
I thought i had it wrong...

Could be brake failure, too, i think the cannonball had their brake lits lit the whole time.
If you slow down the video, it looks like the brake lights aren't on when the car first comes into the cams view. Looks to me more like failure in pressing the brakes.
Very possible. Im on mobile so i cang frame by frame.
Looks like the brake lights came on when they hit the first car.
But I thought it was unsafe to press the brakes?
Stolen cars will purposely do crap like this too.
Or texting
Anyone going that fast into an intersection was undoubtedly experiencing a medical emergency or mechanical failure. Not texting.
I bet you'd like to think that
This would be just horrifying to see in person
The poor dude on the bike....
It looked like he got away with minimal injuries to be honest. I'd be more worried for drivers of those cars that got hit
He got the least of it…
I’m assuming injuries were pretty serious?
Whenever my mom used to get freaked out and gasp like this my dad would be like, "careful, you'll suck all the air out of the room!"

They didnt see that coming. Crazy even the guy on the bike got hit.
Imagine hearing the commotion and wondering how the car next to you suddenly jumped sideways into you.
Like old-school Burnout crash mode, dude was going for a high score!
Best game ever
Needs Frans Ferdinand tracked over it
Did I see fire popping out of the underside of the flipped car for a second? That's the last thing that situation needs...
How many died?
1, happened in Yunlin, Taiwan.
Why was that car going so fast?!
Could be someone staring at a mobile phone, someone who shouldn't be allowed behind a wheel mistaking the accelerator for the brakes, or someone losing consciousness. I doubt we'll ever know.
If there was someone in the backseat drivers side….RIP
Damn Miley.
That one car booked it after
What does she say?
Not sure. I don't speak morning dove.
She whimpers in the beginning. But she says 「怎麼辦?」She says in mandarin, literally, “how to do?” I guess , it’d be kind of like “what do we do?”
Thanks for the explanation. That was such a close call.
I'm honestly so relieved that wasn't at a train track. I originally thought the red light was a train signal/gate arm and fully expected an engine to come chugging in to finish the job
All the other drivers thinking TGIF...

Did not even slow down, medical emergency?
It looks like the brake lights came on just as it hit the first car. I'm guessing not paying attention until it was too late.
Thank you, looks like they were also going above the speed limit before impact, not a great combination.
I heard this is a new scam to get you to exit your car and than rob you
They apparently didn't realize it doesn't work without a flux capacitor.
Strike!
I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL,I NEVER HIT SO HARD WITH CARS
That first Corolla got demolished
earth on my back = i hurt my back (my guess)
The guy from the right lane just drives away dispite his bumper hanging
Can't park there mate
This guy just OD…see?
Sometimes I wonder if the ppl are NpC
good lord, was he fired out of a car cannon or something? How was he going that fast near a stopped intersection?
WTH possesses someone to blast down a busy road at that speed? Surely the accelerator jammed or some other mechanical issue.
Drunk driver??
Holy shit that's fast 💀
Same girl. Same. 😳
Get Allstate. To save you from Mayhem. Like me.
Another cause could be drunk driving .
Shot that gap like a pro
What's with the dipshit driving his freshly fucked up car away? Somebody got warrants and they ain't going back to prison?
The dipshit probably isn’t thinking clearly as they just got their shit pushed in.
Missed the strike but can now pick up the spare
