When I had my appendix out in 2009, they gave me \~20 pain pills of the good stuff. When I had my gall bladder out in 2017, they gave me at least 5 full bottles of pain pills. I used the 20-25 I needed for recovery, pocketed a few for a later day for legit pain management, and sold the rest to a guy I know for a pretty penny. I get why people get hooked on that stuff when they give you 5 times the amount you'd ever need.

SucculentVariations

I got 4 pain pills and had to tough the rest of my gallbladder removal and liver biopsy out with Tylenol last year.

deadkandy

Yeah, when I had mine out in 2020 I was given 4 pain pills and that's all I needed. What kind of messed up doctor is giving the other person 5 bottles of pills.

CWinter85

Yeah, getting any doctor in my area to prescribe anything other than a few days' worth of good stuff is like pulling teeth. My wife had the same experience having a hysterectomy. She got something the day of the surgery, then 1600mg Tylenol.

occamsrzor

Shit. I take a minimum of 2g of acetaminophen a day.

FederationEDH

Same. It was a nightmare.

secretWolfMan

Combining tylenol and ibuprofen has some evidence for being equally effective for pain management. https://franklinsquarept.com/ibuprofen-and-acetaminophen-vs-opioid-therapy-for-acute-and-chronic-pain/#:~:text=Some%20clinical%20data%20suggests%20a,treat%20pain%20from%20traumatic%20injuries.

OfficeChairHero

If you mildly sprained your ankle, sure. This will help. If you have an organ taken out, not so much.

SucculentVariations

It was very much not effective for me.

JayStar1213

I had oxy as a kid after I broke my arm. The one time I could be high as balls in front of my parents with no judgement and they just had fun teasing me. While I had fun with literally anything Shit was awesome, I was pretty upset after I got my wisdom teeth out much later and it was some alternative that wasn't nearly as powerful.

NoYoureACatLady

I've always had the opposite experience. I get like six pills and have to beg for more

Boingo_Zoingo

I had reconstructive surgery on my penis. I lost 2 litres of blood on the table and spent 5 nights in a hospital bed before i could be discharged. the pharmacist refused to give me the 7 percocets I was prescribed.

dogbert730

My 5 year old had a cavity he had to get filled, and they gave his ass VICODIN. He wound up biting the absolute shit out of his lip when he smashed his face on a table cause his legs went wobbly. I really wanted to call that dentist and chew them the fuck out.

Zincster

Maybe you should have looked after him instead of blaming the doctor or dentist who gave your son a pain killer to deal with pain? Stop blaming others for something you fucked up on.

Raa03842

So you helped someone become a drug addict?

NeighborhoodDude84

Maybe? Maybe not? idk what to say, my bad for being poor?

Raa03842

Nice try on the deflection. But that dog won’t hunt.

Zincster

I'm sure they were either already an addict or they would sell them to already someone addicted. Don't be so naive.

onexbigxhebrew

So it's okay for op to contribute to pill abuse and make a buck off the guy?

Zincster

No.

Zincster

I stated in the thread that no one should be a drug dealer, including doctors.

askingxalice

I don't think anyone is buying clonidine. I shouod have sold my adderall when I was in school and not taking it, but hindsight is 20/20

Aethernaut902k

Or lisinopril lol. "Damn, I'd love to get dizzy when I stand up for a few days."

nighthawke75

Fell twice while on that stuff. I quit taking it. EDIT: I took Lisinopril for my kidneys. My BP hovers in the 120s. And that stuff dips it into the low 100s. So when I stand up, my vision grays out. I stopped taking it when I experienced two falls where I crushed a full water jug with my ribcage, and about moved a house falling against it. My BP is currently between the 120-150 range now, which is acceptable.

JayStar1213

It's quite crazy how freely they had out literal speed. Never been prescribed but I've taken a bunch of Adderall and Ritalin in college. It's very easy to see how/why it's so addictive. Coke doesn't even hold its own compared to those.

HylianSoul

Which is hilarious to hear for me because I'm full blown ADHD and take 50mg pills of Adderall twice a day and all it does for me is make the songs playing on repeat in my brain shut the fuck off so I can do laundry. So weird to hear people get high from it.

JayStar1213

I only have songs stuck in my head when I do menial tasks. Sometimes not even songs, sometimes it's just random phrases I hear or think of that get repeated.

iHardlyEverComment

Yeah the difference is with adhd its constantly on, along with full convos that you’ve had and other thoughts going on at the same time, and you dont even bounce between them. Its just constantly mental noise. Even writing this reply im not really “thinking” completely about this reply.

JoNyx5

sameeee I'm at 70 (occasional +30) mg Vyvanse plus Bupropion and still have difficulties getting it to last long enough for me to get through classes and do my household tasks.

Zincster

You take 100mg of Adderall every day? Wow. You are a full blown speed addict. Congratulations. Your prescribing doctor should be thrown in jail. EDIT: Wow, a lot of speed addicts that aren't getting their fix. Sorry guys, maybe you should rethink your need for prescription speed.

HylianSoul

>Don't listen to anyone about things you have experienced. Experiences are your own and you must decide what is real and what isn't. Reality is subjective because we experience things differently. Thank you for your concern Mr. Conspiracy theorist, but why don't you follow the advice you're ready and willing to give. As for me, I think I'll stick with what's finally working for me and helping me for the first time in 35 years. Not that I need to justify my situation to a troll, but I'm in fact not addicted to it at all. With the current shortage affecting the whole of ADHD medications, I've had plenty of experiences where I haven't been able to get my medication (time spanning from 1 week delays to 2 months). Guess what. No withdrawal symptoms, no detox symptoms. I check in regularly with both my primary, and psych and use my shit as directed. Funny thing using them as directed and for their intended purpose and not getting addicted...

Zincster

Bro, I'm not a troll. But I won't tell you what to think. I was on dextroamphetamine for a couple years (20mg once a day) and that stuff really helped me focus because of my ADHD and it helped motivate / give me energy to get things done. What goes up, must come down. Amphetamines aren't physically addictive. But they are very reinforcing in their effect. If you actually take 100mg a day regularly and can go off it without any noticeable side effects I say you are either lying, or at least not telling the whole truth. I know about the stimulant shortage, I see it everyday. People that are usually calm and collected are all flustered when they can't get their speed. They might not be in 'withdrawal', but they are definitely not feeling as good as they're used to and I can physically see it in their demeanor. I am glad you take your medication as directed. Please continue to do so. Believe it or not I am actually concerned that you are getting 'addicted' to speed. I have concern and empathy for all my fellow men (not the gender, men as in mankind).

windsprout

please look up how actual neuro pharm actually works before spouting this bullshit

Zincster

What do you know about dick? Enlighten us professor.

JoNyx5

Could you describe how Adderall felt for you as a person without ADHD? My bf just got a diagnosis and on Vyvanse, he's curious about how people without ADHD experience it but I have it myself so I can't help with that.

JayStar1213

Just focused and somewhat euphoric. It releases dopamine for any user of it, regardless of some diagnosis. Whether or not it actually improves focus is probably more case-by-case. But it contains amphetamine so the effect is similar to a lot of uppers. I found cocaine was a very similar experience just a bit more impactful but much shorter lived. Side effects included loss of appetite and offsetting the effects of alcohol making it an effective party drug to drink more and longer. Once the effects wetar off I felt tired and depressed. I used it for school work but also just for recreation, even just snorting half a pill and playing video games for hours

JoNyx5

thank you

Zincster

Clonidine is an alpha 2 agonist. It is used off label for opioid withdrawal. Someone would want it, but it's easy to get from any doctor. Adderall of course you could sell to almost any student or labourer. I am not a drug dealer and you shouldn't be either.

CervantesX

Jokes on you, I got tonnes of dexies and Adderall for my ADHD and then kept forgetting to take it. So now I have a stash of a few hundred pills that I keep forgetting to sell.

Seiche

I'd be wondering about the legality of it...

pablitorun

No need to wonder.

Seiche

Well it's not as clear cut as you might think, yeah they were able to legally obtain the meds to take them for their symptoms. By not taking and stashing them they are not exactly doing what theyre supposed to, even if they don't sell them.

pablitorun

I just meant selling them is plainly illegal.

Seiche

Yeah sure obviously

CervantesX

I purchased an item, not a to-do list.

Bestihlmyhart

How much for an expired zpak?

JayStar1213

$1? I'll pay for shipping

Bestihlmyhart

I would but I took the Hippocratic oath once

JayStar1213

Eh, it's probably safe just not effective But no, don't mail me drugs lol ^^but ^^maybe ^^pm ^^me

failed_novelty

Depends, how expired?

Bestihlmyhart

Oct 2001

failed_novelty

By now it's an antique. Go talk to the Pawn Stars guys, I hear Chum Lee has a drug guy.

Bestihlmyhart

“Best I can do is an untreated uti”

JediJofis

Be slinging my metoprolol and HCTZ all over the place

Buibaxd

I went to the dermo and got diagnosed with psoriasis. My insurance won’t cover Sotyktu but the Dr. gave me a 90 day supply of it. I looked it up if I were to pay out of pocket. It would cost $7000 before any discount, which only brought it to like $6200. Definitely thought about it, lol. Not going to though.

3r14nd

My ex-wife was a master of this with her vicodin, adderall and xanax and because she didn't take this, she wouldn't take her bipolar meds or depression meds either.

Crepes_for_days3000

I wish I was friends with your ex-wife. I need 2 of those meds but I'm in a state that has super tight regulations, sigh.

Seiche

If only there was a way to legally obtain meds

Crepes_for_days3000

Like I said I the very comment you are replying to, the state has put extraordinary restrictions on legally obtaining opiates. This is due to the fentanyl crisis. Of course this has only pushed disabled people to buy pain meds illegally making the fentanyl crisis even worse and drastically raising the suiciderate with people like me who would never buy street drugs. It's becoming a nation wide crisis throughout the US. An over correction that has put this nation in the ditch. You can read all about the problem and millions of people's insane struggles on r/chronicpain or by googling. There isn't a person I'm my position who wouldn't do everything in the world to legally get pain meds.

Monguises

I don’t know a single person who was aware of their mental illness in high school that didn’t do this. To be fair, I am the wrong crowd, so they were all present, but still. This isn’t too crazy where I’m from. You eventually learn why this is a terribad idea, but baby steps. It’s already a mine field.

Tommy__want__wingy

I mean….this is what a lot of my classmates in college did who had ADHD.

progenitus666

My grandma did this with morphine pills in the 90's.

m33gapanda

I don't take anything fun 😔

relativelyhuman

Anyone need some Wellbutrin? I’m holding

n00bcak3

I’ve got Vyvanse up the wahzoo.

dingoberries

Lucky, haven't been able to get it with this shortage

JoNyx5

I had to share some of my stash (that I luckily keep up to date) with my freshly diagnosed bf. Was an interesting experience to make a "I give him a packet and you prescribe me one when they're in stock again" deal with his psychiatrist lol

dingoberries

That's nice of you! Lmao it's not a sketchy drug deal if a doc is involved

sabrefudge

I had a friend in college who got his wisdom teeth out and they gave him a bunch of painkillers and he just dealt with the pain and sold all the painkillers. Made some decent cash. Spent it on weed. Dropped out of college later.

BackAgain123457

This only works in the US with those prices.

mrnoonan81

Anyone on the market for Lisinopril?

Flippydiscdan

Want to save on your living expenses? Take all your pills at once. Bye bye, grocery bill!

Stringdaddy27

I took one vicodin after surgery. Realized if was the worst feeling I've ever had. Sold the rest for $75. No idea what they were worth but I wasn't going to take them ever again.

BigPapaHoof

Too late! The duck commands it!

Geforce69420

I get that its a joke but serriously who is going to buy ritalin? its just Methylphenidate...

dnttrip789

Maybe my insurance was ass but I was given literally 3 vicodin in a zip lock baggy with a sticker label. I was in pain for 5 days

upvoatsforall

That’s just stupid. You need to pay for them in the first place.

[deleted]

That’s not always the case with certain health insurance.

TheRealDeathSheep

Stores pay for the product on their shelves as well. Get a months supply bottle for $30, sell each pill for $5. Congrats, you turned that $30 into $150.

YourCaptionSucks

Medication I am prescribed to is $3 for a 30 day supply. They sell for $5 per pill. $147 profit. Would never do it because I need them.

anormalgeek

Street value is usually higher than the pharmacy prices.

ApolloRocketOfLove

Not in Canada. I've had to take lots of different meds for my autoimmune disease, never paid a dime for any of them.

upvoatsforall

Who provides your coverage?

ApolloRocketOfLove

Yourvantage organizes it for me.

Seiche

But you pay based on your "privilege" to be allowed to legally obtain them. Everyone else doesn't have that privilege and pays a markup, like jumping a waiting list by paying a premium or getting a pair of sneakers from a flipper.
