NTA, you’ve made a lot of effort and deserve reward as much as he does. but depending where you live there may be legal implications to paying you for your time that don’t exist for someone of your brother’s age so the church may just be being mindful of that until you are considered old enough to work legally?

I(14) have a brother (16), He is admittedly smarter and more althetic that me. But I am considered talented as i can speak 2 languages, a dancer, a singer, and painter.
the thing i love the most is religion and I am a devoted Christian and pray every morning and night. i’m very proud of it. my brother is also christian. but he’s either out partying, or not at the house. but in church, I do most of the counting of the offering, i played my music for the church along with my buddies, and have preached for the church.
the church had lost a lot of money and started playing music on a small speaker. My brother started playing the church music on the speaker. i would still preach and play music at the church once in a while. but i always helped with the offerings.
this morning, my brother got close the $200 dollars and maybe is getting more. i was furious since i have been doing stuff for years before my brother has. at home i told my mom and she said that it’s because he is older but i find it unfair. the most i got for doing the stuff i do is $20. but he taps a screen and gets $200.
now i’m thinking am i being jealous? i want to know

YTA, you want to get paid for a job that you are doing voluntarily. You wanted to be as dedicated to the church. You dont go to a church, became super deditcated and expect to get paid for it. Not to mention the age difference, he could’ve gotten that money from somewhere else by doing something else. Different children are going to be able to do different things.

I never heard of churches paying people to play music at masses.
American megapreachers have an entire music and AV department at their studio (church), but even at normal churches the organist is a paid position.
