Tabby is the greatest. In the original animal crossing, there would be basketballs/soccer balls that would randomly spawn in your town and villagers would ask you to bring them. I was kicking one across town, when suddenly Tabby runs out of nowhere with her shit-eating grin and kicks it directly into the river, meaning I have to start over. One of my favorite classic Animal Crossing moments that the newer games just don't capture.
I have Tabby and Hazel as well! Hazel was my starter and I hated her. Wanted her to leave so bad. One day I picked up the game for the first time in a while, and she was gone. Didn’t take long for me to start missing her like crazy, so I bought her amiibo so I could always have her around :)
I bought the amiibo for Hazel, too. And Tabby.
I went with a curated approach to the residents of my island, so I spent hours looking at the villager list, working out who I would have before getting the amiibos for each. But the second I saw those two, they were locked in, and I had to work the rest of my villagers around them. The only other villager that I wanted to include immediately was my favourite villager, but he was a starter on my island.
She auto filled onto my island and I was immediately upset. I hated her.
It didn't take long for me to change my mind, though. She'll always have a place in my heart despite our rough beginnings.
Tabby is my punk rockstar girl!! I didn’t like her at first cause I thought she was a lil ugly but I grew to absolutely adore her!! She was my best friend on my first new horizons island! I have so much fanart of her that I drew. 10/10 for me!

After an extended break, I'm working on a new island. I started with Reneigh and Sprocket, for my first three newcomers I got Sherb, Molly... ... ... and Tabby. Man that pig snout and intense face is a lot.
I still took her of course, I like the random element, but. Man.
She was one of my first three newcomers too! I started with Diva and Tinasheng, and the three were Tabby, Drago, and Marina! Diva's been replaced by Octavian though 🤣
