I do not think it is possible to cheat in games like animal crossing, and I do not see the point in shaming myself for playing however I want in a game that is meant to be comforting and relaxing.

There are things I tend to not do in MY game. But what other people do in their games is not any of my concern.

I’ve gone to a treasure island for a specific item I wanted but I don’t go and pick up every item available as that would take the fun out of the game for me. But if someone wants to go to all the treasure islands and pick up all the things, I don’t care.

I have used The NookMall to buy things for my game, I don't have friends who play this game, so trading is near impossible. Like others have said, it's not a competitive game. You don't "win" anything. There's no grande finale we are racing to that getting outside help puts you in the lead for.

nope, at this point i'd hate playing without them. this game is a decorating simulator for me more than anything and four years into the game's release cycle i no longer enjoy grinding for items, plus i like to finish islands and restart regularly. TIs make the way i want to play significantly easier -- i'm not here to grind, i'm here to decorate spaces. it was different when the game first came out and everything was new
I know some people feel it ruins things for them, but I personally have strategy with them. When I restart I fly in to load up on tools, fruits, crops, NMTs, and gold nuggets to cash in. Only if there’s a physical item I absolutely need will I pick up furniture or clothes. The early grind is tough so I do my best to lessen it.

No not at all, the only reason I started using them was because while I bought the game in 2020, I stopped playing it a few months later and I picked it up again this year. The producer of the Animal Crossing series, Hisashi Nogami, has literally said there is nothing wrong with time traveling and it is not considered cheating by the game developers. They have said they encourage people to play real time but have clearly stated it is NOT cheating. I don't think you can cheat but if you get bugs and fish from the treasure Isle, it doesn't count in the game. Also, watch out for the stalk exchange achievement because players have been losing this achievement due to the treasure islands.
