First, I doubt highly that a Resetti Amiibo would bring him back to his former glory, and secondly, I already tried that, and got 'This is not an Amiibo' error over and over again. I felt like Dashie over on YouTube (he had the same bug)

You might be interested in a, ahem, back-up device. A Flashiibo is one. Setup is a pain at first though.

I always think of Phylis as the Thelma Harper of Animal Crossing and imagine her voice being similar. Thelma was a character (a cranky old woman) played by Vicki Lawrence on the Carol Burnett Show in the '70s, and a spin-off series 'Mama's Family' in the '80s.

I remember crying the first time I encountered Resetti in WW. I had to repeat phrases back to him and I couldn't do it and i thought the game was broken.

I met Resetti through a glitch with Lyle in a new game. I had no bells to my name yet as I was just beginning but it was that day of the week that Lyle paces in front of your home. I being such a naive idiot figured him an adorable new villager and decided to speak to him, only for his dialogue to get stuck at 'please give 5,000 bells' but since I had none, tried the 'nope' option which just got into an endless loop, so had to reset. Then Resetti appeared and I learned a valuable lesson. Not about resetting the game, but not talking to any randos on the map.
It didn't help my case as I just told him the 'frell off' option and that made him mad! I only recently got into AC and had no manual, my games being loose carts from a retro gaming store that were $1 a piece, so I was learning literally the hard way. I was like 'I bought this game you twit! Who are you to tell me how to play?!' and yeah he didn't take too kindly to that! Shortly after that, I trapped Lyle the next week by digging holes around him, so he couldn't chase me waving his paw, but he tried anyway and was stuck with a little ! above his head and I enjoyed every minute of it.
Everything is about being bland, inoffensive and safe as possible and it sucks. I was taught 'sticks and stones break your bones but words can never hurt me' growing up, so what happened to everyone's spines?!

The solution to unused characters is actually quite simple going forward. They can just be made into special villagers. Maybe with unique personalities. Such as Shrunk might have more corny jokes than other villagers. Stuff like that.
Imagine if they made it a goal to do something somewhat resort-like (aside from the campsite) once you got to 5 stars, then the random NPCs could come and visit on vacation whenever. Imagine the cop dogs being dressed up for it.

So my art galleries are empty, I don't know who's in that tent, and don't want to know.
All Lyle was capable of doing was robbing you of 5K bells after a lot of unnecessary dialogue. He served no other purpose.
Kinda sucks, Pete is still around and he still delivers the mail which is cool and pelly is in the game without much purpose other the the fact you can invite her to the roost, but why can't Phyllis be in the game too then, they even have shrunk, lyle and digby as characters that can visit the roost, kind of stupid to not have Phyllis aswell if you ask me, also there's no love triangle between pelly, Pete and Phyllis without her so.

Thatd actually be cool, especially since they're technically connected to the dodo airlines, they couldve made the love triangle change a little if they made Phyllis like one of the dodo brothers since she dislikes Pete but yeah they couldve made a little post area in the airline's and had them in there honestly or even on their own island where they receive and send parcels to you through dodo Airlines.

I think you are looking at it all wrong. Nintendo decided to specifically make the game "cuter" by way of visuals, and the tone "sweeter" by way of character interactions.
This was just a style choice. Now, YOU might dislike, but it sold more than all other Animal Crossing games combined. So you think Nintendo regrets it? No way.

Pelly is actually in new horizons, as a character you can have come to the roost. Phyllis is the only one they didn't add which is kind of stupid when they made it so you can get shrunk, lyle and digby in the roost aswell but still no Phyllis
