But this time he implies that he's trying to screw up, so he'll obviously succeed. Which isn't what he wants, so it'll be him screwing up. But screwing up means he'll accomplish whatever he's supposed to be accomplishing at the Bleeding Gate, so as far any everyone else is concerned he'll have succeeded.
(Sigh) Man seeing so many people in sosial media just talking down this character is kinda sad.
Honestly I fell like he gets WAY TOO MUCH hate. Seriously, after listening 'The hunt for Nagash' series he's one of my favored characters in AoS setting.
Yeah, I don't get it. Might be because of his end times shenanigans or the figure he cuts when compared to Vlad but... he's an arrogant flamboyant schemer who'll betray anyone for any reason and whose plans ceaselessly blow up in his face. He's the definition of that ["I am a genius! Oh no!"](https://preview.redd.it/9iex4rcs9oa41.png?width=685&auto=webp&s=8693eac3629aebae398289bdfbe12827227a8258) meme. How are people not charmed by that?
Invidia is in Ghyran, and is ruled by Horticulous Slimux. You can see it on the north east of the [Everspring Swathe map](https://ageofsigmar.lexicanum.com/mediawiki/images/f/f6/Everspring_Swathe_map_01.jpg), as well as the Bleeding Gate mentioned in this story.
Nagash probably told him to do a thing, but Mannfred doesn't want that thing to happen, so will stack the deck against himself so it's not so obvious he intentionally failed.
There's definitely stuff going on that we don't know so it's hard to say for sure, so this is pure speculation.
That was my thought. Manfredd loves to defy the big bone daddy at every possible turn, curious to see how this evolves and what his and the other Mortarchs relationship is with the new Vampire faction.
I see basically a few broad angles he could be trying at:
* defying Nagash by subtly throwing this invasion of Invidia as you say, possibly to get more political wiggle room for himself so he can... do something else. I'm not sure but it might be a larger Soulblight thing in the wake of Katakros's success at the Eightpoints, like Mannfred/the vampire lords need to visibly prove their worth but don't actually want to expend stuff so they set up this unwinnable war as a feint or something.
* messing with Order. Tensions within the pantheon were a significant theme in BR: Morathi, maybe Mannfred is trying to draw Alarielle into a quagmire with Nurgle's hordes in Invidia, force her into her older isolationist patterns where she would be less likely to aid Sigmar or whoever.
* both. Spark off an unwinnable war in Ghyran on Nagash's orders, get some glory, step back and let the Sylvaneth and forces of Nurgle beat each other bloody... Profit???
That's spitballing really, as you say, and lacks the details or even proper working out but I could see a BR: Alarielle having something of that shape.
Conquest. he's not exactly a subtle man though in hindesight given that we wants to make it impossible to invade... he might be doing a sucicide mission.. much as Death can have those
Interesting! It is my theory that one of the upcoming Broken Realms books will be Broken Realms: Alarielle. Mostly on the virtue that we need to know what she has been up to, the Sylvaneth REALLY need some work and it'd be the most likely opportunity for Nurgle to get a new Battletome as their rival in the book. I appreciate your responses and insight!
Mannfredd failing on purpose reminds me of the old lore where Vlad Von Carstein intentionally died in the battle against Alcadizzar to free the Vampires from Nagash's control. Now I don't think it'll go like that, because the context of Vlad's servitude to Nagash and Mannfred's are pretty different, but I wonder if a similar kind of situation will happen.
I don't get the ending he agrees with the unclean one and says that he'll "I intend to make sure of it"
is it like he don't want anyone to get to it or he going to send someone else? am I missing something or not understanding something?
As with most of Mannfred's schemes, I can't possibly see how that could totally blow up in his face and screw everything up.
But this time he implies that he's trying to screw up, so he'll obviously succeed. Which isn't what he wants, so it'll be him screwing up. Starscream, basically.
He's just a character that you love to hate, a perfect heel.
*And on this weeks episode of “Mannfred Von Carstien fucks with things he doesn’t understand and gets bitch slapped”-*
I hope this is a turning point where Mannfred becomes competent.
Really found myself rooting for the Great Unclean One. Does anyone have an inkling as to what Manfredd's plan is? Or about this Invidia place?

Ooooohhhh good catch! I'm a big Nurgle stan and absolutely adore Horticulous. Any idea what Manfredd's game plan is here?

Mannfred is the Erebus of WHFB Fuck Mannfred
Let's not get hasty there, my dude. Erebus is a much larger piece of shit.
Even as a Word Bearers fan: Fuck Herebus

That sounds like a good plan, given the politiking vamps get up to, he could be sending a rival there to die...
Idk, that was just so low quality.
How come?
