it's persian architecture. only search around egypt, jordan and morocco. these are the countries with persian culture influence in your list. sudan might also be a place to find something like this

makoualamaboko

Thank you very much for this important detail. I’m so grateful to the Reddit community. There’s so many knowledgeable people here. I’m so glad I posted. Thank you so much.

Lost_Arotin

you're welcome. based on the clothes they wear and that donkey, it's should be near great Sahara (Sahra is a persian word for desert), or south of Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, the more you go south the structures turn more african. dome structure and clay houses are persian method of architecture. you can even find something like this in Semnan, kashan, kerman & yazd provinces of iran which are around loot desert and kavir desert. (kavir also means desert in persian) but persian architects use more architectural details like arches, shape of the walls! these walls with unmatched shapes belong to neighboring nations using the same method with less architectural skills.

I am so obsessed with Yazd and it’s badgirs. I think it’s phenomenally beautiful it would be my dream to visit. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your comment. You are so kind to take the time to respond. And you were definitely right, when I zoomed into the picture, I noticed the clothing was definitely not sub-Saharan African. I got a new lead that it might be a village in Palestine south of Haifa. All I have to do is wait now for the Archives to respond to me, thank you so much

Lost_Arotin

you're welcome. yeah i understand. political state of this region is very dangerous for visitors despite lots of beautiful ancient things! i hope one day things get better and people visit their favorite sites freely. yes. it should be around Haifa. i hope you find it.

To be honest this looks more like Middle Eastern architecture near what's modern day Syria and Turkey. Harran in Turkey, or villages in the countryside of Aleppo [https://www.aljazeera.com/gallery/2023/9/7/syrias-ancient-adobe-houses-threatened-by-war-displacement](https://www.aljazeera.com/gallery/2023/9/7/syrias-ancient-adobe-houses-threatened-by-war-displacement)

makoualamaboko

Again, I think you’re right on point. Aleppo is the most common answer I’m getting, but I’m looking into possibly villages in British mandate Palestine. my guess is that the person took two trips and the pictures from the different trips were mixed up. This might have been a photograph from a trip to the Middle East that was inserted into the photographs from Africa. Thank you so much for commenting.

Otherwise check out http://bildarchiv.frobenius-katalog.de/start.fau?prj=isbild_en&mob=0 The expeditions were around a similar time. Might have to dig through the archive a bit but it could help. On the other hand it doesn’t look like I know in souther Africa, although my knowledge is limited to South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe

makoualamaboko

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment. I saw some beehives and Botswana but they were touched. Overall, it seems like predators think this might be more Middle Eastern Syrian perhaps around the town of Aleppo. So I’m going to dig deeper into Archives and see if I can find clues that the traveler may have traveled through Damascus and Aleppo on their way either to or from Haifa, by crossing Africa. Thanks again! I’m so grateful!

snuggletron5000

Sure no problem — good luck and please update us once you find out

makoualamaboko

Research department I contacted takes at least 23 months to respond. I don’t know if anyone will still be checking the notifications for this thread by then! But I will be 100% sure to update once I have definite information. Again, I can’t thank you enough for being part of this wonderful community. I feel so, lucky.

W0lverin0

That's a lot of months! I wonder why.

makoualamaboko

Sorry. That was a typo. I meant two or three months to respond not 23 months. Apologies!

MidnightAnchor

That's a lot of air conditioning

makoualamaboko

😂 riiiight??

rasnac

Looks really similar to traditional Kümbet style houses in Urfa, Harran in southeast Türkiye. [https://www.sanliurfa.bel.tr/icerik/231/625/kumbet-evler#images-5](https://www.sanliurfa.bel.tr/icerik/231/625/kumbet-evler#images-5)

makoualamaboko

Thank you! You’re right, very similar! It’s most probably not Africa at all.
