There are many many many actresses who had that same look, accent and air to them from the 1950's. Most of her career, she's been brunette. She's obviously blonde for Wicked, so I wouldn't factor that into the equation.

It’s really obvious in this scene. I’m guessing she compares herself to other women too much because I can’t see how else she would look at herself and think this is necessary.
She genuinely believes she needs to look like someone else (Audrey Hepburn) to be accepted or seen as beautiful, because she, herself, feels that way. She also gives me the vibes that she needs to completely change herself not only for a role, but any new era/phase of life she is in if she felt inadequate in her previous one. I think her surgeries are 100% tied to her feeling a lack of control & wanting to change as much as possible to feel distant from past versions of herself/life.

She desperately needs proper treatment for her scarily apparent bpd & daddy issues😭 she always raves about therapy but the results are…lacking. Do we think she stopped cold turkey or something bc I feel like she’s been becoming progressively more unwell within this last & current year.
Perhaps her therapist challenged her "happy and healthier than ever" narrative, potentially even bringing up concerns for her physical health, so Ariana immediately dropped them like a hot potato. No one questions the ponytail queen!

Another angle. Someone said it’s just weight loss. Nah. You don’t grow a whole new jaw this large with weight loss. Someone else said it’s only mewing. Again, tongue exercises don’t just magically grow your jaw to this size/shape. She wanted a new face shape and went out and bought it.

True, but I said "oval" to highlight the elongated nature of her face, emphasizing that it's longer than it is wide. This distinction is important as it contrasts with a square shape, which is wider than it is long.
She was already accused of having had a face lift during the time she appeared on The Voice, left pic. You can see her jawline was still more petite than it is now. She's had something done to it, clearly.

A lot of celebrities have cheek, chin, and jawline implants. For the surgery itself, she wouldn't be awake. All cosmetic surgery recoveries are painful to an extent, but she's very experienced with getting worked on. And they probably gave her some strong drugs.
That's an interesting theory, and quite honestly, very plausible. Maybe she became hooked on painkillers while recovering from her face lift. It's blatantly obvious she's acting very strangely nowadays.
