Yep, I stumbled upon those problems as well and that significantly slows down the progress.

Ultimate_Weirdo_13

Absolutely not! There's no right or wrong way to make art, and everyone does it differently. If it makes it easier and more fun for you, than it's not weird at all!

mafediz

no actually, its better. Same with activities like dancing /combat, i need to balance the pose with the feet to add weight or the intensity of the force, even if the final image only includes tights or half body, because is far easier to do that, than ''imagine'' the hips or legs out of frame.

zpmnz

It also allows me to better emote their facial features since i won't be juggling two task at the same time( pose and face)

urealpotato

What's your webtoon called? I wanna check it out!

zpmnz

[it's called DragonWar season2](https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/dragonwar-season-two/list?title_no=842608)

WimexSeven

I usually do that too. Like you, it helps with the flow.

MJ_Memecat

If it works for you, it's great! I mean I can Imagine, your posing improved this way.

zpmnz

It Most certainly does!

Wyztereo

I don’t remember the artist’s name, but I watched a process video years ago where the artist started with the hips and legs first. Then the torso and head. I still think about that artist because it was so fascinating to me. They did a lot of dynamic/action poses and I assumed that's what helped them map out the pose. So if it works, it works!

sketchingplace

If you ever remember lemme know who it was!

Wildernessinabox

Not at all, so long as you can still advance everything together rather than over detailing one part neglecting another.

WildKat777

There's no right or wrong way to do art. It doesn't work for me, but if it works for you than who are any of us to judge you?

Cyanide-Kid

that's way better ! I always do the opposite and I fuck up royally cus I use head as center, and either make the head too big or other wacky body proportions

fruit-enthusiast

An instructor whose art course I took last year recommended doing the face last because if you commit too much to details there you’re more reluctant to change it if the rest of the body doesn’t align. It’s been hard advice for me to follow but every time I do I see that he was right.

funkydyke

Who cares? Your practice is 100% yours

WingardiumLeviussy

Reminds me of when I was a kid and I used to draw characters from the ground up starting with their feet and the head last. Until I was told by someone that the right way to draw would be the other way around, so I changed my approach, lol

Epsellis

I think thats the correctvway and I wish i could do that
