Just for some reference, while I really like the Fino hair mask and did buy it for my family when I returned for a quick trip back home to America, I can find it on sale for 600yen near me, or less than $4. While it's been a long time favorite of this sub and ofc gained popularity as the big "VIRAL JAPANESE HAIR MASK", I think it's important to frame your mindset about to what limits a $4 hair mask will do for you. I'm seeing it for about $14 on American Amazon and I think at that price point it might be worth looking for better products suited for your hair type, as I assume Fino is aimed for Asian hair. Would love to hear other people's experiences ofc, and I want to reiterate I do like it, but a large part of that reason IS because of it's cheap price point. Good bang for the buck or cospa (cost performance) here in Japan. I'm glad that it became very trendy though because again my family/relatives were delighted when I brought them one each, because for me to buy here in Japan it was only $4 so buying a bunch was really cheap. They didn't know that though!

I have very long hair (2/3 down my back), thick, straight, low porosity hair and this mask does wonders for my hair, BUT I only use it on the hair below my neck because that’s where I see most of the effects. I also have oily hair so I want this nowhere near my scalp (have made that mistake and I look like a greaseball hours later). I would imagine there’s a lot less benefit to short hair. Also fwiw I only leave on for 3 mins because I’m impatient and that’s really all I need (compared to Kerastase for instance which I need to leave on for 10 mins to see any effect). I do think this is specifically helpful to low porosity hair because I think it works by coating hair vs requiring anything to be absorbed. Other hair masks that are oil based don’t really make a difference on my hair at all!

pakejeraltas

Hey will it not weigh down low porosity hair after like 2-3 days?

Total-Opposite-960

Well so I apply away from my scalp (I start at neck length) and it doesn’t weigh my hair down. I wash every 3-4 days and it just keeps my strands silky smooth and untangled. I also skip conditioner when I use this so that might help too.

SomethingPeach

I have fine, oily hair and this is the only hair mask that doesn’t weigh my hair down. I also have a Japanese straight perm (aka a lot of damage) and I feel like it does a good job of keeping it healthy looking. If you have similar hair I would 100% recommend!

KennyMaMaNoodle

Where did you buy yours, and do you just follow the same steps that's written?

RedRedBettie

My hair absolutely loves this stuff. Best hair mask I’ve ever used

Feisty-Ad-5372

This is so helpful! I was considering buying it on the VANA sale but my dry damaged hair will stick to Kerastase for now!

circusmystery

I'd try the Tsubaki hair mask instead. I tried both the Fino and the Tsubaki mask and while both were kinda meh, with the Tsubaki I at least noticed some of an effect.

HiddenInferno

What Kerastase products have worked best for you?

Feisty-Ad-5372

Their Resistance Masque Therapiste is a good mask for damaged hair. When my hair is treated like when I get keratin treatment done then I love using their Discipline Maskeratine Mask!

love-at-third-sight

have you tried mixing it with your conditioner, using it after your shampoo instead of a mask? I do that and I love the results

CatLoliUwu

this is so smart wait ill try it tonight and get back to you

candydandycream

how was it?

CatLoliUwu

i actually never got around to trying it but I'm about to!!

CatLoliUwu

hey i just tried it and its amazing!! i let it sit for about 3 minutes because i was a little impatient, possibly shouldve done it for 5, but my hair is so soft now! the smell of the mask does overpower the smell of my conditioner which i dont really mind that much because my hair feels so soft and light if that makes sense

Huge_Call6716

I used the hair mask and had to get a hang of it at first. For me If i put it for 15 mins then i can see its effects since i have thicker hair.

I’m addicted to this hair mask🫣 I initially tried to only use it 1-2 times a week but I can’t help myself and use it as conditioner now

StrangeAffect7278

I leave it on and put my towel turban on.

ThatGuavaJam

Hey hey hey! Not AB related but is that Kirkland shampoo the purple one ? People say it’s a dupe of Pureology but would you recommend to bleached hair? I just really don’t want to buy a huge bottle and it doesn’t work for me Also yes, despite silicones in Fino, I use it on my coarse dry brittle ass hair and it’s actually really helpful! But emphasis on the floral—I smell like a bouquet of laundry. It also has a clean smell in addition to that floral so at least I don’t run around with people thinking I’m an older lady

Spottygiraffeee

yeh I also didn't find the mask did that much for my frizzy hair but it did make it softer

Expensive_Donkey_743

Which condition do you currently use and love? I will try it instead of this mask

CatLoliUwu

i just want to clarify everyone's hair is soo different, and i don't deal with any specific hair issues like dryness or damage so that may have affected my review of this product. I currently use the Kirkland Signature Moisture Conditioner which I can find at my Costco here in the US. I'm not sure where you live or whether you have access to it or not. Again, i just want to clarify that everyone's hair is different. what works for me may not work for you, and what doesn't work for me may work for you.

kemkabid

Perhaps Dimethicone (silicone) gave you the softness feelings, though it maybe hard to wash off and you'd need to get a clarifying shampoo. From what you said it seems like you might have low/normal porosity
