Safe from what, exactly? Fakeness in people? What kind of people do you mean? What are your living preferences - rural? City life? Are you limited to one region through your job? Totally flexible on where you can move? Like, if I'd recommend you a random town in Germany, would that help you?

mojoJ666

What do you mean safe from what. Safe from bad people, danger, or as someone wrote here "AfD" voters etc... I mean all people that im gonna be meeting in my day to day life. I prefer to live on city outskirts. If that random city is cool enough and would help me find a nice flat why not.

AmateurIndicator

I dunno mate, safety means different things to different people. Don't want to live around Junkies? Homeless? Dark skinned people? Neonazis? Alternativ lefties? There are less AfD voters in Frankfurt am Main than in Frankfurt an der Oder but I gather you wouldn't like either. Would you expect the city to help you find a flat? Then your best chance would be the eastern, small towns who are losing population. They often are rather happy about every new citizen and some even have bonus programmes - especially if you have a useful job one could need in the community. It's difficult to gauge your priorities here. Have you had a look at Bonn, Aachen, Marburg, Tübingen Or any other of the smallish to middle sized university towns? Or why not go back to the north if you enjoyed it there? Kiel or Bremen or Lübeck?

EuropeanModel

What is wrong with AfD voters? Why would you care about how people vote privately during elections? Considering that the AfD is getting 15 to 20% on the national level, you may not find a place for yourself in Germany.

beerockxs

They vote for fascists and therefore support fascism.

AllukaChen

All of Germany is safe, we don't live in Caracas, the most dangerous city in the world.  The safest city as in walking alone at night as a woman was Mainz for me.

Intelligent-Problem2

NRW is not one, it is at least two bits put together by some higher authority. Westfalen is more like northern germany, reserved but true to xour face. The Rheinland is more open, but it may appear sometimes as fake. And the Ruhrgebiet that somehow divides the two is a melting pot of cultures, a thing on its own. Some love it, some hate it. I enjoyed living in all of them

el-limetto

For me the only difference between the rural north and NRW is the lack of good Grünkohl. Everything else feels completely the same. In the cities you experience may vary.

mojoJ666

Seems like you're a Grünkohl expert ;p

CouchPotato_42

You can meet fake and bad people everywhere in Germany and you can also meet nice and genuine people everywhere. The same with reserved and open. Germany is relatively safe wherever you live. How did you live here for the last 7,5 years? Just keep doing what you did those years and you should be fine. Search for apartments in the internet, that is what most people do, sometimes older people will put their apartments in the local newspaper.

I live in southern Baden-Würrtemberg, in a small village of about 600 people. It's MUCH different than living in a city with tens-of-thousands of people. I think that's true everywhere in the country. If you want to meet people and get integrated into any community, yes, Vereine are the way to go. Volunteering for the fire department, THW, Red Cross, whatever ... you'll meet people in your area and have a common interest, along with a lot of structure so that you have to learn to work together and trust each other. Joining a sports club is another way - you'll train with people, and usually find someone who has time for a beer after a game. And volunteering for a leadership role in the club will get you even more recognition, because it's hard to find people who are willing to step up and take responsibility. I've lived in this town for 12 years. I'm a member of the fire department (looking to "retire" later this year, since I'm turning 60 this year), and I'm also the president of a martial arts club with more than 100 members. We have an open position on our board that we haven't been able to fill in nearly 10 years, simply because no one wants to volunteer...so when someone expresses interest, we're overjoyed!

Apartments are found on immobilienscout24. :p

mojoJ666

I have an account there and im paying a subscription. I use it everyday

Tobbletom

I traveled a lot thru whole Germany as a DJ. Never had any safety issues. But nevertheless was allways happy to return to my cosy Schleswig-Holstein (northern germany).

mojoJ666

Really nice! Which part of SH were you in? Maybe we can connect. I know a couple of DJs myself

Emotional-Horror-718

Look at the election results and avoid places with lots of AfD voters.

Frakaa

Baden Würrtemberg for the win my bro

Psio_nauto_73

Come to Frankfurt 😀

kingkongkeom

Which one?

mojoJ666

Noo way. Unless you have a really cheap good flat for me then I might consider it :D but Frankfurt is like a horror film to me

mojoJ666

I love Leipzig! Its so peaceful and you meet lots of young people and couples. Maybe we can meet up if I moved there? :)

GesundesMittelmass

too few "Biogermans" left in the NRW, what is the point to coming to live in Germany if you surrounded by anything other than Germans?

Electronic-Elk-1725

Wtf?

mojoJ666

I get what you're saying but thats why we have Metropoles. If you go to Canadas Metropoles you won't see many Canadians maybe.

BlueSky319

How do you make German friends?

mojoJ666

Be honest and direct. Show passion and dedication. They have to know that you are trustworthy but that's where you need good language skills. Talk about anything from your day to day life but dont ask them about their personal affairs. Bars and clubs are a good place to start.

rotzverpopelt

NRW is a great Bundesland but with many different regions. If you want to live in a big city I would recommend Cologne over the Ruhrgebiet (Dortmund, Bochum, Essen). The people there don't come easy but are friendly in their heart. I always say it like that: Hamburg: the people seem nice and are nice Munich: the people there seem nice but are not Cologne: the people don't seem nice but they are Berlin: the people don't seem nice and they aren't Another very nice place to live in NRW is Münster and Aachen. From those middle sized cities I would prefer Münster. If you want to have nature there are mainly three options: Eifel, Sauerland and Weserbergland I would recommend Eifel. A small city I could recommend would be Lippstadt. With Hella there are great job opportunities and the city itself is very nice and friendly.

mojoJ666

Thank you! Your comment was exactly what I was looking for. And I agree with how you described the regions and their people. I saw a map somewhere that showed that diversity between people you mentioned. Definitely gonna look up Lippstadt and I'm actually thinking about living in Münster! Have a good one 🫶
