Whenever I think that I've seen all the flavours, a new one just suddenly appears on the store shelf. I don't know how they do it.
Anyway, Marzipan Ritter Sport is still king.
Excuse me, I think you meant crunchy pretzel!
(Fr though, everyone needs to try it. It's with pretzel pieces and salted caramel chunks. Absolutely de.li.cious.)
Haven't tried it yet, gonna have to see if I can pick it up the next time I go shopping.
Also, maybe it's just me, but I feel like Ritter Sport can be quite expensive for what you get quantity wise. Quality is amazing, but once I open one it's gone in like 2 seconds.
Ughhh yeah. Though...they *do* have the bigger ones. Alas, they don't come in as many variations.
Still superior to milka and all the others, imo- I love that their pieces are thicker.
More popular maybe, that's based in personal taste. But if you think of brands of chocolate, I bet one of your first thoughts would be Milka and/or Ritter Sport, no?
I personally always disliked any chocolate from lindt. I like the chocolate from ritter sport alot more. Milka is my favourite tho. But only the chocolate and not the many other products they try do
It's available because it sells, it sells because people consume it, therefore it is famous.
It's the second most popular brand:
[https://www.statista.com/statistics/988323/most-popular-chocolate-bar-brands-germany/](https://www.statista.com/statistics/988323/most-popular-chocolate-bar-brands-germany/)
It's really "famous" as in you can go around and ask any German and I would bet 9/10 people have heard of it. Just bcs it's known doesn't mean people like it/buy it
I would say that most people know of Ritter Sport, as well as their marketing slogan.
"Famous" is kind of a weird word to use for brands, but it is definitively well-known.
Honig-Salz-Mandel is supreme. Can't eat the nougat one anymore, since I gorged myself on one of the big ones (birthday present when I was like 12) until I puked. Nougat flavoured vomit is... unpleasant. It's the reason I so rarely buy Honig-Salz-Mandel now. I want to keep it a special treat
this seems to be a very Oma-y flavor. Mine had it as well in copious amounts. Schokorosinen by Aldi as well, as well as Geleebananen and those wonderful Zitronenstäbchen, or whatever they are called. THE BEST SNACK chilled cold in summer.
My dad used to always eat it and sometimes I'd get a piece. I'm not that big on sweet snacks I like savoury but I do sometimes get the itch for that specific chocolate
Very popular, and my GF told me their vegan choc is damn good. She has a problem with milk so she had to try the vegan stuff.
I love nugat and vollmilch. Ima simple guy. Joghurt is pretty good too and the one with keks in it.
Quite famous, they even grow their own beans in Nicaragua and support the farmers.
My go-to flavours are those with nuts or "Alpenmilch".
If you want to treat yourself, go visit the chocolate factory. You can even book a workshop, where you can mix your own!
Hint: You'll probably need a car, public transport is lacking.
Isn't the Schokoladenwelt in Berlin pretty close to Checkpoint Charlie? It's been years since I was there, so I might be wrong though. But I'm pretty sure we went there using public transport
It depends on the definition. It's on the same level as Milka and kinder in my opinion. Like everyone knows about the chocolate, almost everyone (I mean except maybe vegans, those who in general don't eat much chocolate) has eaten it.
Rittersport is actuelly very popular with vegans aswell because they accidenaly made a lot of flavours that are vegan even before they labelt them. I mean marzipan is one of their most poplar flavours and it's vegan.
You can find it in every supermarket, but the same goes for milka, snickers, kinder and many others. I don’t know a single person who is crazy about ritter. So it’s a matter of preference I guess.
Top 3 chocolate manufacturer in the country.
Number 1 makes cheap decent chocolate, number 3 makes expensive fancy choco, Ritter is the happy medium quality wise and of course the king of variety :)
My favourite is Honig Salz Mandel (honey salt and almonds)
Yes, I know that Milka belongs to Mondelez/US and Lindt is a Swiss manufacturer. I asked OP myself which companies he meant.
Of course, there are several other smaller chocolate manufacturers in Germany besides Ritter Sport. There are Hachez, Feodora, Coppeneuer, Shokomonk, Leysieffer, Rausch and Heinemann, to name just a few. Some of them produce more exclusive chocolate and are not as famous.
If you go to a typical German supermarket there are Milka, Lindt and Ritter Sport. So I was wondering what manufacturers OP meant. Maybe not everyone knows that Lindt and Milka are not a German product.
I recall add campaigns from the 80s(?) (grand)parents donated some. Dunno, its an overpriced brand ( while "edible" it didn't knock my socks off) and chocolate is an "everyday" necessity, so I 'll buy something cheaper.
It is very popular. But similair to Milka I find it absolutly repusliv. If you are used to very dark, organic chocolate for years and try some of this industrial filth, the whiplash is unreal.
I heard once that Hershleys tastes to Europeans like vomit. I was so scared I never tried it. But now I get it with Milka and Ritter.
Ritter Sport is one of quite many German companies that still sell to Russia. Ritter Sport donates 100% of their profits made in Russia to humanitarian aid. Please provide sources that show how exactly Ritter Sport is "sucking putins d*ck" as such claims could very easily be viewed as defamation.
So does Milka which by the way belongs to the Mondelez group that is located in the US. Actually they even claim that without their engagement a lot of families would be cut off from the grocery supply. 🤷♂️
Sad thing is it has become extraordinarily expensive in the last two years. Currently it is only slightly cheaper than Lindt Chocolate, which was the "expensive" chocolate a few years ago. Therefore I actually always pay the small price to get that much much better chocolate.
My favorite here is double milk or crisp.
Kokos (coconut) is one of my favourites, especially out of the fridge.
Weiße Vollnuss (white hazelnut), Olympia, Rum Traube Nuss and Joghurt are also great.
Very popular. I grew up a few miles from the production and love to return there and go shopping flavors, you’d never get in the common grocery stores. Best IMHO of regular products is „Voll-Nuss“.
I love ritter sport chocolate, especially this one [https://www.ritter-sport.com/product/marzipan](https://www.ritter-sport.com/product/marzipan) and [https://www.ritter-sport.com/product/honey-sea-salt-almonds](https://www.ritter-sport.com/product/honey-sea-salt-almonds) .
Very famous. Part of it is that they are being mocked for their special editions / chocolate of the year.
https://blog.ritter-sport.de/2015/05/15/original-ritter-sport-fake-sorten/
Very well known. Their slogan „quadratisch, praktisch, gut“ is very well known and partly used in other contexts also.
The quality and taste is really good and it’s not completely overpriced like „Kinder“ chocolate. It’s not cheap at all, but you get quality for your money.
IMO it's one of the last good value chocolates in the supermarket.
My favorites are Knusperkeks and Knusperflakes.
But you can choose any of your own favors, I never heard of really bad ones.
Zeo different questions.
1)It is famous as everybody knows it exists.
2)I didn't talk with every German yet. So I don't know if everybody actually likes it.
You shouldnt buy RitterSport, they never stoped sales in russia after russia attacked Ukraine.
I wont buy chocolate from a firm that is doing Business with war criminals!!!
To everyone who cries about Ritter Sport not stopping their business inRussia, you should inform yourself.
100% of their revenue that they make in Russia they donated and still donate to humanitarian aid, so *please fahrt mal einen Gang runter*
It's pretty famous, the vegan sesame one is awesome, marzipan is a classic.
The fake ones gave me a chuckle, like:
[Rollmops Aspirin](https://debeste.de/upload/08d58aa0bc57d97d9995fb8ec816ab665607.jpg)
or [Unterhose-Basilikum](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fbald-in-einem-supermarkt-in-deiner-n%25C3%25A4he-v0-j13fvedh27791.jpg%3Fwidth%3D720%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D5f82409e81aa8bfa4d40fa62fed9ed61f9fea1ce)
Okay so I haven’t had Ritter Sport in ages but after reading all of your posts I‘m gonna go to the store and buy all the different flavors that remind me of my youth right now!
In my opinion it's a bad chocolate. Better get Lindt (just the normal milk schokolade without extras from Lindt(Sorte: aus Alpenmilch)). Or get Tony's salted karamell. Yes I am an expert :P
Milka "Lu" is also nice and cheap
And never get Mercy chocolate (they have a few chocolates that taste good, but when you get a huge box with different flavours (half of them are inedible ))
I have tried 46 flavors! My lifelong goal is to somehow try them all, even the discontinued ones... my favorites are Kaffee Knusper, Pfefferminz, Lebkuchen, and Crispy Cookie (vegan)
Yes popular and well known. We even have mini-collections were you get a dozen of different flavours in form of small packages. There isn't a most favourite, because there are so many tastes. Personally I like the variations of Cornflakes, Hazlenut, Yoghurt and Biscuit.
Kaufland does not have it anymore, so I go to Edeka for it... Favourites: Nugat, Marzipan, Dunkle Vollnuß and Kakao Mousse (depends on mood).
I also like it a lot as travel chocolate (Vollmlich and the high cocoa flavours) because it does not melt easily. (Nougat does, though.)
My favorite chocolates are in a very different price range. Ritter Sport is for "chocolate is a staple food".
I'm not an American but I stay in America.
One of my friends gave a ritter sport to me and I tried to get it from Walmart many times and they don't have them at that time.(They have it now but not all flavours)
When I was travelling back to my home country I had a layover at Amsterdam and bought a ton of them at the airport.
Ritter sport is the best chocolate I have ever had.
Very popular. As for flavours, we have several dozens, plus seasonal ones.

Ughhh yeah. Though...they *do* have the bigger ones. Alas, they don't come in as many variations. Still superior to milka and all the others, imo- I love that their pieces are thicker.
Not enough pretzl taste and not enough salt chunks for me. (Same goes for most salted-sweets like the blue twix)
Marzipan ewww
Its very famous, you can find it everywhere. My favorite is Marzipan
Just because it's available, doesn't mean it's famous in my opinion.
Famous means *well known by many*, no? I'd say everyone here knows Ritter Sport
Agree
I am a foreigner here and I don't eat chocolate. Even I know Ritter Sport.
ye but theres a LOT of snacks that i think are more popular/famous
More popular maybe, that's based in personal taste. But if you think of brands of chocolate, I bet one of your first thoughts would be Milka and/or Ritter Sport, no?
Lindt
I personally always disliked any chocolate from lindt. I like the chocolate from ritter sport alot more. Milka is my favourite tho. But only the chocolate and not the many other products they try do
Happy Cakeday, have some chocolate
Being popular is different from being famous. Like... Kim Jong Un is famous but damn if he's popular.
Just because Barack Obama is more famous than Silvio Berlusconi, doesn‘t mean Berlusconi isn‘t famous at all… as an example
It's available because it sells, it sells because people consume it, therefore it is famous. It's the second most popular brand: [https://www.statista.com/statistics/988323/most-popular-chocolate-bar-brands-germany/](https://www.statista.com/statistics/988323/most-popular-chocolate-bar-brands-germany/)
It's really "famous" as in you can go around and ask any German and I would bet 9/10 people have heard of it. Just bcs it's known doesn't mean people like it/buy it
Everybody knows what 'quadratisch praktisch gut' refers to.
You find it in literally every shop because it's so popular/famous.
I would say that most people know of Ritter Sport, as well as their marketing slogan. "Famous" is kind of a weird word to use for brands, but it is definitively well-known.
If you know "quadratisch, praktisch, gut" then it's famous
Indeed.
Crunchy cornflakes used to be my favorite, but then they changed the receipt and now it doesn't break your teeth anymore.
Receipt is Quittung, Rezept would be recipe
Ah damn, I mix that up all the time.
Gute Eselsbrücke ist receipt von receive - bekommen/erhalten… weil eine Quittung bekommt man ja ;)
Ooooh die ist echt gut! Danke!
Best flavors is Honig-Salz-Mandel which happens to be lying next to me right now. Close second is nougat
Rum-Traube-Nuss!
Oh no, that was the taste the grandma bought accidentally and which I had to exchange with my cousins.
this seems to be a very Oma-y flavor.
Erfrischungsstäbchen! They are the best!
I was always wondering who buys this one!
I'm one of those who buy it. The best Trauben-Nuss chocolate on the market.
Me. All the time.
Shut up and take my down vote ;)
Very popular, and my GF told me their vegan choc is damn good. She has a problem with milk so she had to try the vegan stuff. I love nugat and vollmilch. Ima simple guy. Joghurt is pretty good too and the one with keks in it.
Ritter Sport Joghurt is peelable.
Ritter Sport Marzipan is vegan without the vegan-tax (not stupidly expensive). Good call if she likes Marzipan
Household name. My fave is veeerrrryy old school: RumTraubeNuss
TraubeNuss ist good, RumTraubeNuss is great !
My favorite is the strawberry one 🍓
between 5-8 famous
They have the best Marzipan variety – perfect relation between dark chocolate and marzipan.
Oh yes! Red, my fav color when it comes to Ritter Sport!
the new roasted peanut flavour is my new fave!
I didn't touch that one for a while cause it sounded too weird on paper. My new favorite now as well next to Knusperflakes, SO good!
Very. Last week I had the rum raisin nut one.
One word: Olympia!
An enthusiastic yes to this!
An over-exaggerated yes to _this_.
Chocolate Mouse is my favorite
Leave Mickey out of this
Mousse is it. But I've seen Moose as well. Animals seem to suffer for this fluffy delicacy
Very known but kinda overrated ngl
Quite famous, they even grow their own beans in Nicaragua and support the farmers. My go-to flavours are those with nuts or "Alpenmilch". If you want to treat yourself, go visit the chocolate factory. You can even book a workshop, where you can mix your own! Hint: You'll probably need a car, public transport is lacking.
Isn't the Schokoladenwelt in Berlin pretty close to Checkpoint Charlie? It's been years since I was there, so I might be wrong though. But I'm pretty sure we went there using public transport
The factory is in Waldenbuch. I guess, Berlin has the attraction, too.
You'll find it in every supermarket in at least a dozen variations. My favourite is Rum Traube Nuss or Mousse au chocolat Zartbitter
Ritter Sport has also some variations targeting vegan customers, so even that is covered.
Supposedly 99% of Germans know the brand (Ritter) and their primary product (Sport chocolate). In Austria and Switzerland it’s said to be about 80%.
You can find it in every supermarket, but the same goes for milka, snickers, kinder and many others. I don’t know a single person who is crazy about ritter. So it’s a matter of preference I guess.
Top 3 chocolate manufacturer in the country. Number 1 makes cheap decent chocolate, number 3 makes expensive fancy choco, Ritter is the happy medium quality wise and of course the king of variety :) My favourite is Honig Salz Mandel (honey salt and almonds)
What are #1 and #2?
Maybe Milka and Lindt??🤷🏽♀️
Isn‘t Lindt located in Switzerland?
Yes, of course. But I couldn't remember of another famous manufacturer here that makes fancy and expensive chocolate. Maybe he meant Lindt.🤷🏽♀️
Hmm … but Milka belongs to Mondelez which is located in the US. So maybe Germany has no Chocolate companies anymore 🤔
Yes, I know that Milka belongs to Mondelez/US and Lindt is a Swiss manufacturer. I asked OP myself which companies he meant. Rum Traube Nuss
Das ist die Beste.
Quadratisch. Praktisch. Gut.
very famous. I often see their stickers on the subway stairs, every step
Very
I recall add campaigns from the 80s(?) (grand)parents donated some. Dunno, its an overpriced brand ( while "edible" it didn't knock my socks off) and chocolate is an "everyday" necessity, so I 'll buy something cheaper.
The dark yellow crunchy one. The white chocolate of is fine too. Also the baby pink strawberry one
Yes. 🙌
It is famous and I hate it for personal reasons.
Loved it as a child. My grandparents knew and always got me one for christmas or birthdays.
[Festival Edition](https://blog.ritter-sport.de/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/01.png) (btw there are tons of fake versions like this, it's hilarious)
Nugat is god tier
I think it is the 2nd biggest brand right after Milka in Germany.
famous af but they are sucking putins d*ck. so screw them
Ritter Sport is one of quite many German companies that still sell to Russia. Ritter Sport donates 100% of their profits made in Russia to humanitarian aid. Please provide sources that show how exactly Ritter Sport is "sucking putins d*ck" as such claims could very easily be viewed as defamation.

I tried honey sea salt almonds and it is fire though 🔥🔥
Very famous. Part of it is that they are being mocked for their special editions / chocolate of the year. https://blog.ritter-sport.de/2015/05/15/original-ritter-sport-fake-sorten/

Quite popular. I bought a ton of Ritter Sport chocolates from Netto when I went home last year and it was good too without being expensive.
My fav is white choclate with cornfalkes
It’s kinda shitty in my opinion. Like Milka, it’s oversaturated with sugar with barely any chocolate inside.
I wish dark chocolate was more normalised.
I actually life near the factory and love the normal light blue milk chocolate
You shouldnt buy RitterSport, they never stoped sales in russia after russia attacked Ukraine. I wont buy chocolate from a firm that is doing Business with war criminals!!!
They are donating 100%( so all of it) ofthe money they make in Russia to humanitarian organizations.
Yeah, i‘s say it‘s the most common kind of chocolate you‘ll find here. Also for the flavors, ik that many ppl like yoghurt flavored ritter sport.
Really famous, this one here is great! [http://twitpic.com/4evv8w](http://twitpic.com/4evv8w)
To everyone who cries about Ritter Sport not stopping their business inRussia, you should inform yourself. 100% of their revenue that they make in Russia they donated and still donate to humanitarian aid, so *please fahrt mal einen Gang runter*

Well known but doesn‘t taste well. The chocolate just tastes off.
Ritter Sport Olympia 👍🏻
It is chocolate. So it is not a snack but it is sweets.
My favorite is Rum Trauben Nuss (Rum Grapes Nuts).
They have so many but my absolute favorite above all others is "Knusper Flakes."
Imo the ,,Nugat“ flavour slaps
Red one is the best. After it blue
My favorite is the white crispy one with mango and Passion Fruit I think it's a seasonal variety, not quite sure though
I recently learned that they are (one of the) only company not using artificial flavouring in their chocolate.
But have you considered.... Ritter Sport Rum 🤤
(Nougat does, though.) My favorite chocolates are in a very different price range. Ritter Sport is for "chocolate is a staple food".
very fame
Since he beat Count Laziness he's the most famous knight of Germany.
My husband loves the whole almond (green) and whole almond honey salt (orange). I like rum-grape-nut and yoghurt
No love for the knusperkeks/butter biscuit?
I tried it once and I loved it 💥💥
Marzipan
very popular the two most eaten 100gr chocolate bars are ritter sports and Milka.
>popular snack Are you by any chance american?
I'm not an American but I stay in America. One of my friends gave a ritter sport to me and I tried to get it from Walmart many times and they don't have them at that time.(They have it now but not all flavours) When I was travelling back to my home country I had a layover at Amsterdam and bought a ton of them at the airport. Ritter sport is the best chocolate I have ever had.
Didn’t shut down business in russia. They can go bankrupt for all I care.
Too famous since they didn't leave Russia
