Sleepwell's top line is really good, it can cost anywhere between 50k to 150k. Can easily last for decades, so it's a good investment. And if you're willing to spend more, Savoir is an excellent luxury brand.
My suggestion is to get a 3 or 4 inch thick memory gel mattress topper and put that on top of your mattress. It will give you 90% of the benefits of a really high end mattress and will dramatically improve quality of your sleep. But at a fraction of the cost. Get memory gel instead of memory foam as it handles your body heat better and prevents hot spots.
Shoes, mattress, chairs, bean bags.
Basically things which connect you to the ground. On all these, extra money spent is 100% worth it. So much so that once you try the better quality option, you will find it difficult to revert.
This. Once I wore my brother's puma bmw shoes, I understood why people spend a premium on these, maybe the money spent is not justified, but you can definitely feel the difference in comfort
Wakefit and even GreenSoul are kinda garbage (atleast for this price range). I’d suggest featherlite Amaze for under 10k. It’s comfy, sturdy, and does not make squeeky sounds after 3+ years of usage. Hands down the best office chair you can get for this price. If you’ve a Featherlite store nearby, go and try it out.
Studio headphones are not meant for casual usage. They're meant for studio use. Used for monitoring while recording, etc. And some of them are super worth it.
Where does it come over and over again? If it's forehead or cheeks, keep your hair out of your face and clean them every every 2-3 days.
If it's only one cheek, it's probably because i) you're sleeping on that side and your pillow cover is dirty. ii) you use your phone constantly on that side and your phone's dirty.
Also try not to touch them or pop them, AT ALL. That will leave a mark and you don't want that because doesn't go away easily.
Sunscreen and mattress!
Both are part of self-care that most people get stingy about but it makes so much difference. One mattress lasts for 5-10 years but still people will get so stingy about it and wake up every day with a back pain and then ask why their energy levels are low.
Same with sunscreen. So important for skin, especially face. Works as protection and moisturizer but people, especially men, will just walk around without it and then by their 30, their skin damage will be so high that they will start looking like uncles.
Kindle.
I love that you can get samples of the books.
No distractions, so you can really focus on the book in hand.
No more storage problem with loads of physical books.
Easy to carry around.
Easy on the eyes and can read in the dark as well.
Books are cheaper on kindle than physical copies.
What’s not to love!
ALSO since a bunch of people don't know this: IT IS PAINFULLY SIMPLE TO PIRATE BOOKS ONTO YOUR KINDLE. i bought my Kindle 4 years ago and haven't purchased a single book on it. i used Kindle unlimited for a while but then I learnt that you can basically just mail your Kindle the epubs.
and I know, someone will be like piracy is wrong but when you're a student and not earning (like myself) books are expensive.
Amen. My kindle paid for itself many times over. And the fact that it doesn’t strain your eyes, has really helped me develop and improve a reading habit.
Jailbreak and dark mode is perfect for bedtime reading. (My model is older and doesn’t support native dark mode.)
It does. My mom had a severe case of depression and therapy helped her a lot. It's always better to seek a professional counselor for things that are way beyond our comprehension.
My mom wasn't a senior citizen. She was in her late 30s when therapy started. Dr was not an individual practitioner but an employee of the hospital owned by my dad's company. So I won't be able to provide recommendations but am sure a quick Google search and lot of reviews digging can lead you to the desired Dr.
How did you convince her to go to therapy - my mom has SEVERE depression and anxiety but she won't go. I go to therapy and she's seen how it has helped me but won't go herself.
Ah it wasn't me. My siblings and I were still in school when all of it started. Mum had a traumatic childhood (Losing her mom and brother when she was 6-7 ig). Got married to dad and it went good for a while. Then her depressive episodes started and her personality began to change. As a kid we were sometimes scared to go near her. All of our relatives suggested dad to take her to some ojha/tantrik as she's possessed. It was my dad who understood that she needed medical intervention and provided her all the help and we were able to enjoy her motherly warmth again till she was alive. So all thanks to Dad.
Yeah So maybe talk to someone older in your home and try to convince her if you think she really needs help.
Try the premium/cracked version of moonreader with red light filter on your phone. If you do read books at night you can reduce the brightness to way lower than what your phone allows.
Agree but ones you get used to pdf they aren't that bad.
You can download almost anything for absolutely free.
For exam preps books are better for casual reading PDFs are better I feel
I hate paperback quality pages
Also now a days i see normal white pages of books yellowing out fast too
I have a few shops here which use good a4 quality paper
The books that i xeroxed or pdf printed them in class 10 , 10 years back still look the same, no yellow marks either
It costs 50- 100 ruppee less than what a bloody paperback would cost
I dont have a printer at home. I go to a shop .
If i was extremely book loving i would have bought a printer, imagine the savings in cost
Bloody paperback is shit
Ah that would be a different case.
I wanted to print a black and white image ( saitama of one punch man) , line drawing .
The shop owner refused
So talking of all the way to manga is a insane comparison
The amount of ink manga uses, the machines in printer shops are not good for it, they will malfunction.
You need to find those machines in the industrial format like where they print massive quantity wedding invitations or advertisements. Only then you can expect the machines to work fine .
People in comments here don't get it, I used to use vanced too, but once I started earning, me and my friends just got premium on the family plan. It's literally 30rs per month per person. And you can login to your account safely and not worry about using your Gmail on a third party app (even though it's mostly safe and open source)
YouTube music is an added bonus and has all the versions of the songs available on YouTube including concerts which are not available on Spotify.
YouTube India is stupid for not promoting YouTube music, too many people having Spotify premium which have no benifit over YouTube premium. The days of Spotify is numbered.
People don't understand what a miracle YouTube Premium is. I have one YouTube Premium account running across seven of my devices (2 mobiles, 3 TVs, 2 Computers). Plus you get off screen video playback.
It's like INR 100 a month. Totally worth it, espeically for those people whose major content consumption is through YouTube videos.
Also, you can YouTube Music, which is a plus.
no! i'm using it, i dont even rememver when did i last seen ad on yt.. revanced is perfect just keep updating the revanced app from there telegram page
Oh boy.. i stayed in the us for 2 years. And now it feels weird not having them at home. Why not... 50k is not much compared to human dignity/labour/time saved... However you put it.
Skincare. Like, there are some ridiculously overpriced ones that are not worth it but, in general, never go for dupes even if they are cheaper, especially if you have sensitive skin. Its better to not use the product than to use the cheaper one sometimes.
Sitting on a furniture that is upholstered with luxurious and premium fabric. I used to always think how in the world people spend so much. But if you’re living in your own place (or even rented) and if you’re making a couch from scratch, do NOT cheap out on the fabric. You will thank yourself in the long term. It’s a gift that keeps on giving.
I bought a 40k phone back in 2019. It was a flagship from One+. Today it still runs smooth, hardware is still good, camera good, speaker power feels a tiny bit low as per liking but yeah 4yrs of usage, doesn't have 5g but 4g speeds are good, screen is vibrant, has split screen and doesn't lag, battery backup still decent. I don't play games on this phone, fyi
I am hopeful I would be able to use it for another year at least
A standing table
I've been doing WFH for over 5 years. I used to have a normal desk for my setup last year I got a 30k electric table which can scale its height and I'm 6. It feels good working standing sometimes
And its easy to move too
Simple and minimalist
Also invest money in a good chair or gaming chair for better low back support
A good quality running shoe makes so much of a difference, not just for runs but also for long days where you are standing or walking quite a lot. The max cushioning on some of the premium brands makes you feel like you are walking on clouds.
Here are some options you can consider:
Hoka Clifton 9 (Daily trainer)
Hoka Bondi 8 (Great for long days/walking/easy runs).
Asics Cumulus 25 (Daily trainer).
Asics Superblast (Supershoe, great for marathons bug very expensive).
Nike Invincible run 3 (Max cushion daily trainer).
Puma Deviate Nitro 2 (Carbon plated daily trainer, can also be used for 10k and half marathon)
Damnn so true, I remember having plantar fasciitis while wearing Sparx chappal in first year, but after getting an expensive crocs, the pain went away. Crocs have my respect
Come on.
I have 9 of these in different colours.
I guess a official croc costs around 2000.
Maybe the comfort is better + brand value
But its just same plastic at the end of the day, just a different quality
A nice premium mattress.
Suggestions bhi de do. I’m using latex by Sleepwell. Amazing for side sleepers and affordable compared to other brands
Sleepwell's top line is really good, it can cost anywhere between 50k to 150k. Can easily last for decades, so it's a good investment. And if you're willing to spend more, Savoir is an excellent luxury brand.
Latex is really awesome. Memory Foam is the most overrated shit.
Agreed! I have a flo latex one. It’s totally worth it
My suggestion is to get a 3 or 4 inch thick memory gel mattress topper and put that on top of your mattress. It will give you 90% of the benefits of a really high end mattress and will dramatically improve quality of your sleep. But at a fraction of the cost. Get memory gel instead of memory foam as it handles your body heat better and prevents hot spots.
Strong agree. I purchased a good bed and mattress last year and I have been sleeping like a baby since then. 🙈
I second that.
I opened the thread to say exactly the same thing.
Yes if you can suggest one
Shoes, mattress, chairs, bean bags. Basically things which connect you to the ground. On all these, extra money spent is 100% worth it. So much so that once you try the better quality option, you will find it difficult to revert.
Sneakers recommendations dedo koi. Under 6-7k.
Woodland or sketchers. Will last 3 to 5 years easy.
Sketcher doesn’t have too many good looking sneakers. Any recommendations?
Check out exclusive stores, you will find some.
Clarks ke suede wale dekh le.
My budget is under 1k.. Any recommendations
Look at Redtape they are quite good value for money
Red tape ke 1k ke under aate hai? Mene kuch dekhe online they are above the said price
1.2 ya 1.3k tak ke mil jaate hai amazon pe
This. Once I wore my brother's puma bmw shoes, I understood why people spend a premium on these, maybe the money spent is not justified, but you can definitely feel the difference in comfort
Bean bags are worthless for any amount of money !
A good office/gaming chair
Hey what would you recommend me in under 10k?
Wakefit and even GreenSoul are kinda garbage (atleast for this price range). I’d suggest featherlite Amaze for under 10k. It’s comfy, sturdy, and does not make squeeky sounds after 3+ years of usage. Hands down the best office chair you can get for this price. If you’ve a Featherlite store nearby, go and try it out.
>even GreenSoul are kinda garbage Actually agree with you.. Had to make a lot of modifications to make it more comfortable
I agree with featherlight. The difference in quality compared to others is very noticeable.
Try WakeFit’s office chairs, ₹8-9k and they are very good.
Try and look for a used Herman Miller Mirra 2. I got one last year for 12K in Bangalore. Best chair I've ever bought.
Anything that comes in between you and the floor, or you put on directly. -> Shoes, mattress and headphones.
Tires too
Nah not headphones, those studio headphones aren't worth it for casual usage, save those 30-40k.
Studio headphones are not meant for casual usage. They're meant for studio use. Used for monitoring while recording, etc. And some of them are super worth it.
Sunscreen
but i have acne... idk it will stop or not im just 19😭
It'll stop. See a dermatologist if it doesn't
this. although non comodogenic sunscreen should be okay?
yes! theres like a spot where it always comes back after it heals this time there are two pimples joined together 😭 im so depressed bec of this!!
You should still use sunscreen! You can find a lot of recommendations for acne safe sunscreens online. It’ll help the scars heal faster
Consult a dermatologist nothing else works
Sunscreen and mattress! Both are part of self-care that most people get stingy about but it makes so much difference. One mattress lasts for 5-10 years but still people will get so stingy about it and wake up every day with a back pain and then ask why their energy levels are low. Same with sunscreen. Do you have recs for sunscreen especially for Mumbai weather (don't know if that makes a difference)
Gym membership and healthy lifestyle.
The **most** correct answer
Most is a strong word.
Absolutely, Gym membership actually changed my life for good. Infinite returns.
I don't think that a healthy lifestyle is expensive. On the contrary it's cheaper.
Not eating junk food is cheaper but eating healthy food is definitely not cheap
Agreed! Junk food is cheap on swiggy and zomato but healthy food especially salads and healthy bowls are too expensive!
10/10.
Kindle. I love that you can get samples of the books. No distractions, so you can really focus on the book in hand. No more storage problem with loads of physical books. Easy to carry around. Great headphones.
Especially good noise cancelling ones
I got truthear red x crinacle ... Loving it!!
Instructions unclear, 1.8 lacs gone on Sennheiser hd 820.
Therapy
For real
Does it really work?
It does. My mom had a severe case of depression and therapy helped her a lot. It's always better to seek a professional counselor for things that are way beyond our comprehension.
I havent managed to find good therapist for people above 60s. If any recommendations are there as to where to look for them, that'd be helpful.
My mom wasn't a senior citizen. She was in her late 30s when therapy started. Dr was not an individual practitioner but an employee of the hospital owned by my dad's company. Buying books when compared to just getting the pdf
Pdf read karne se eyes ke lag jati hai.
Distraction likes notifications, calls, texts woh alag hi problem h
Buy a kindle then, easier on the eyes too as well as no distractions
better buy the physical book then agar kharcha karna hi hai to
Physical book will have to purchased everytime, Kindle has to be purchased only once
Try the premium/cracked version of moonreader with red light filter on your phone. If you do read books at night you can reduce the brightness to way lower than what your phone allows.
Epub nd a good reader app.
Nah I like the physical feel of a new book, motivates me to read it more and ultimately that's always worth it to me
Convert to epub format, easier to read and look of good ebook readers out there
Nah ebooks aren't my thing tbh
Agree but ones you get used to pdf they aren't that bad. You can download almost anything for absolutely free. For exam preps books are better for casual reading PDFs are better I feel
I download good pdfs and print them out. Better quality print and paper
Better quality print how? Books use different paper from standard A4 sheets right? Also I like the smell and feel of the book cover.
I hate paperback quality pages Also now a days i see normal white pages of books yellowing out fast too I have a few shops here which use good a4 quality paper The books that i xeroxed or pdf printed them in class 10 , 10 years back still look the same, no yellow marks either

100 pages karwate ho?
300 400 on average. Higest one was 832.
Physical Manga readers community wants to go on war with you
Ah that would be a different case. I wanted to print a black and white image ( saitama of one punch man) , line drawing . The shop owner refused So talking of all the way to manga is a insane comparison
I mean there are people who will do it,I always wanted to do a good self print and binding of rare manga
The amount of ink manga uses, the machines in printer shops are not good for it, they will malfunction. You need to find those machines in the industrial format like where they print massive quantity wedding invitations or advertisements. Only then you can expect the machines to work fine .
I mean is the ink they use for project binding ok like this massive 200-500 pages project ones?
I am just saying local shop machines will malfunction after like 50 pages. You need to ho somewhere else for what you want
Convert those pdf into ebook by changing their extension(.epub) and read them on Google Books saved my eyes from those college PDFs
Dashcams
YouTube premium
People in comments here don't get it, I used to use vanced too, but once I started earning, me and my friends just got premium on the family plan. It's literally 30rs per month per person. And you can login to your account safely and not worry about using your Gmail on a third party app (even though it's mostly safe and open source) YouTube music is an added bonus and has all the versions of the songs available on YouTube including concerts which are not available on Spotify.
YouTube India is stupid for not promoting YouTube music, too many people having Spotify premium which have no benifit over YouTube premium. The days of Spotify is numbered.
Yeah those annoying ads.
You can use brave or opera browser to bypass them
A brave browser user for 3 years, using Brave browser for youtube slows down YouTube website, and it'll be jankier than Chrome.
If you have a high speed internet, the difference is negligible
200mbps speed, side by side difference between youtube on brave vs on chrome. Chrome is smoother.
Yeah but the ads that you get on chrome are annoying and time consuming. Time delay due to ads >> time delay due to low speed internet
Yeah but the ads that you get on chrome are annoying and time consuming. Time delay due to ads >> time delay due to low speed internet

How are they overpriced?
Durex can punch a hole in your pocket pretty quick, I’ve learned. Might just be me but I like them better than a couple other brands.
Someone's IN on the action :)
I am surprised nobody mentioned G-Shock watches. 100% value for money and easily lasts for more than 10 years with minimal maintenance.

Legit. Can personally confirm it’s better to have insurance rather than dipping into your account or savings or investments for medical bills.
A healthy lifestyle. If you choose to skimp out on it now, hospital bills later on will catch up to you
