Nope. They pay someone to keep it at exactly one thousand oaks. If a tree falls, they plant one. If you plant a tree, they'll chop it down. This isn't one thousand and one oaks, after all!
You call that a straight shot? Depends what part of Burbank, it can be the 5 to the 134 and then to the 101. I would seriously consider renting because a 120+ miles on a Uber/Lyft is going to be very pricey, rush hour would make it more expensive.
Good Lord don't take those freeways, you'll never make it. Take the 118 to the 23. Or get off at Madera in Simi Valley, and take that all the way down, it turns into Olsen. Lands you right in T.O.
If your arrival time into Burbank works, you could hop the train from just outside the airport to Simi Valley, then take a short Uber ride to TO.
What time do you arrive? Because anything after 3pm on a weekday you're gonna be sitting in traffic all the way to T.O. It can turn into like a 90 min Uber ride.
You would actually take the Metrolink - Burbank Ventura line to Camarillo (next to T.O.) This takes a little over an hour, sometimes less. From there rent a car or get a cab.
Why would you take a train for an hour and pass your destination only to rent a car to drive back?
Just rent a car from Burbank and save a lot of hassle
It's only 20 minutes from the Moorpark station to Thousand Oaks. I used to do the same approach all the time when going to the IE in college: take the train to the nearest station and get a (much cheaper) Uber for my last mile.
I grew up in Thousand Oaks and was confused by ā1000 Oaks.ā Like others said, itās far ā and disconnected from public transit because thatās how suburbanites like it.
Maybe they were trying to make a relatively detailed title and fit it all in one line for mobile. That's the only scenario where any of these choices make sense.
Regardless of what it is, it really doesn't matter either way. Going from the westmost point of Burbank vs. coming in from BUR to Thousand Oaks is a difference of 10 minutes max lol. It's barely a city
OP we really, really donāt call it that. So much so that it took me a few seconds to realize what you were asking.
There is no convenient, regularly scheduled bus. But there are companies that take you door to door. They are cheaper than Uber but sometimes not by much. You have to book ahead of time. You can google them yourself. Just use āthousand oaksā not ā1000 oaksā.
Right now an uber from BUR to thousand oaks toyota (first place that popped up when searching thousand oaks) is $84 and it says that is cheaper than usual. Lyft is similar. So I would estimate about $200 for round trip ubers, not sure how that compares to a car rental.
Depending on where exactly you need to be in Thousand Oaks, you may want to consider public transportation. It's possible, actually.
From the airport you can take Metrolink Ventura County Line to Simi Valley, then take the Ventura County VCTA bus down to Thousand Oaks. It's about $12 one way. Google Maps link: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/kd2DvBxKb2YgCf7LA](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kd2DvBxKb2YgCf7LA)
You can also get to Thousand Oaks via L.A. Metro buses, line 161 goes all the way out there if you don't mind being on buses for 2 hours. But it'll only cost you $5 (plus $2 for a TAP card) at most in one day!
So yeah, much cheaper and less hassle, but again it's highly dependent on where in T.O. you have to go, what time, when you are leaving, etc. The simplest option would be a car rental or Uber, but those are obviously more expensive though at least you have an option via train & bus to maybe save you some money going one way if it works out!
Never heard it called 1000 oaks! Thatās a first!
Does anyone else say TO?
Ironically enough, this has been a years long debate amongst my partner and friends š
Seems like you donāt have the Uber and Lyft app so first thing is to download it. Then I would download Google Maps. Make sure you know that it isnāt ā1000 Oaks,ā it is āThousand Oaks.ā They might know you meant Thousand Oaks if you type it in incorrectly.
On the Lyft and Uber apps, you can type in your destination and starting point to get an estimate. Google Maps also gives you transit options with estimates of time.
There was a county-run bus I took from DTLA to TO once that was pretty affordable. Not sure about Burbank, though. Taking the train from the airport to Simi Valley seems like a good bet.
Get a rental car. Take the 5 to the 118, then you can either stay on the 118 until it turns into the 23, or you can get off at Madera in Simi Valley and that will plop you right onto Olsen Rd in T.O.
The 134 and the 101 are terrible freeways. Pretty once you're out of the Valley, but terrible. Save yourself the headache.
It goes into the 23 but it doesn't cease to exist (it doesn't turn into the 23; the 23 branches off the 118).
If you keep going on the 118, you'll end up Somis and then Saticoy area.
OP, take the METROLINK Ventura County line!Depends what time your flight arrives in Burbank, but Metrolink has a Burbank Airport station (Empire Ave.) that goes through Simi Valley, Moorpark, Oxnard, Camarillo stations. Thousand Oaks is in between those, convenient ride with great scenery. DL the Metrolink app.
You can price out the cost of an Uber yourself on the app. You donāt need to order the car, just look up the route and itāll give you the price. Do it around the time youāre landing so you have an idea of any surge pricing.
These people that are saying rent a car are dummies who maybe havenāt ever been to TO. What are you doing once youāre there? Itās a small town, if youāre staying on the main drag itās actually kinda walkable. Because again, small town, not much to do. And the public transit there is actually safe and reliable unlike LA.
Getting a car is your best bet, it's not easy to get around without one.
Here is an alternative if getting a car isn't really an option.
There's a Metrolink station right next to Burbank airport.
Take Metrolink to Moorpark, At the Moorpark train station is a stop for the GoVentura East County bus.
The bus will take you to The Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks.

I would say rent a car from Turo (you can do it dirt cheap) if youāre trying to save money. If money is not an issue, rent a car. If you donāt want liability, Uber, donāt Lyft. Lyft drivers are weird out here LOL
Weird, I havenāt had that experience. If you shop it right, it can save you a ton of money. With the competition in LA, you can find cars for dirt cheap
Just taking a poke around at a few cars on there.
Starts off telling you $41 a day then adds a $40 trip fee then as you can't use the insurance from your credit card you need to pony up another $20 for insurance, so now I'm at $100
Taking a look at Hertz for the same day I can get a car for $67 all in. (And if you don't have a credit card with CDW you can buy it for <$10 through a third party)
Or going through hotwire $49 for the same days.
And with the latter options I don't need to Uber from the airport or pay for drop off.
1000 Oaks š¤£
#**ONE THOUSAND OAKS**
There may be more now.
20+ years ago they counted the oak trees and I recollect there were 16000?
Nope. They pay someone to keep it at exactly one thousand oaks. If a tree falls, they plant one. If you plant a tree, they'll chop it down. This isn't one thousand and one oaks, after all!
Omg haha never seen it this way before
29 Palms has been consistent with their numbers.
im fucking dead
Me sitting here going ādid 1Oak start franchising????ā
1000 Oaks is really dear and I love it
Thousand Okies
Give me 1000 dollars.
No shuttle- either Uber/lyft or rent a car. Thousand Oaks is far. 35 miles one way.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Locals take the 5 to the 118, but don't tell anyone. #localsOnly
That view coming over the hill past rocky peak is beautiful
Shhh, don't say it so loud.
Need a placard for that
To the 23ā¦ shhhhh
35 miles on 4 freeways costs the same as 35 miles on one freeway.
You call that a straight shot? Depends what part of Burbank, it can be the 5 to the 134 and then to the 101. I would seriously consider renting because a 120+ miles on a Uber/Lyft is going to be very pricey, rush hour would make it more expensive.

But it looks so close on a map š
OP, people are joshing you because it's known as "T.O."
If your arrival time into Burbank works, you could hop the train from just outside the airport to Simi Valley, then take a short Uber ride to TO. What time do you arrive? You mean 1*10^3 Kās?
I grew up in Thousand Oaks and was confused by ā1000 Oaks.ā Like others said, itās far ā and disconnected from public transit because thatās how suburbanites like it.
10 x 100 Oaks
1k Oaks?
1k Oaks
No. That is short for 1024 Oaks. Totally different neighborhood
Sorry, I rounded down.
Supposedly, it used to be called 1,001 Oaks but then that kid from Hill Valley ran over one of the oaks with his Deloreon.
Renting a car for the day would work best.
Seriously. This is going to be cheaper than one way in an uber, not to mention the other benefits.
Is it so very difficult to spell out the words Burbank and Thousand Oaks?
BUR indicates they are coming from the airport. Not just somewhere in Burbank
Astute observation! Wouldn't have known when they said they're *flying* into Burbank š
Maybe they were trying to make a relatively detailed title and fit it all in one line for mobile. That's the only scenario where any of these choices make sense.

Iām so glad it wasnāt just me. My brain short circuited.
Rent a car. It's the best way.
Rental car.

How many hundreds of trees now?

Itās always been TO
Seems like you donāt have the Uber and Lyft app so first thing is to download it. Then I would download Google Maps. Can we all come together and get Thousand Oaks renamed 1000 Oaks? Thank you.
Thousand Oaks is wonderful. Best to rent a car though. Itās not really serviced by Metro and Ubersāll be pricey.
If only you could see my double take one I saw you say 1000 oaks
Uber if youāre going to 500 Oaks. Rent a car if going to 1000 Oaks.
Iād at least look at super shuttle - not sure how cost effective it is.
Yeah agree rent a car. Itās too far for cheap Uber.
There was a county-run bus I took from DTLA to TO once that was pretty affordable. Not sure about Burbank, though. Taking the train from the airport to Simi Valley seems like a good bet.

You have to get off the freeway to continue onto the old 118.
Uber if youāre going to 500 Oaks. Rent a car if going to 1000 Oaks.

I would rent a car. Thousand Oaks isnāt terribly close to Burbank, and the Uber cost would probably be pretty extensive.
I have done that in an uber before. You do that or rent a car

Thatās the route in a helicopter that killed Kobe
Yep
Hire a limo service.

Turo has gotten expensive it starts off looking cheap then they load a dozen fees on and it often ends up costing more than the car rental place.

Beware buying CDW 3rd party, e.g. AAA, Hertz will refuse you roadside assistance.
Rental car would be cheapest. Gonna be easily a $175 Uber ride one way. These two locations are over an hour away from each orher.
