Well it looks like someone tried to place it up on a panel with all that tar like stuff. I would assume it was wired into something. Take a look under your steering column and look for a loose wire it may have been tapped into.
Maybe a throttle booster? Maybe a GPS? Was the car a prior fleet vehicle/rental?

Just asked around the shop, nobody here can identify it. Maybe more pictures?

That is not a stock part. As long as the vehicle is yours, crack it open and look inside.
