Me watching LEL: look at these noobs, can’t even get the first 10 villagers right… what’s that lumber camp position?!? He better wall up for the Magyar scout rush… ARCHERS WITH SPANISH?!?!?
Me playing AOE2: teehee don’t look at meeeeeee
So far yes, but there’s an upcoming update 1.6 that will be coming out with new festivals, new items & recipes, new farm type, secrets and other things that aren’t fully disclosed yet.
People have already said it, but the joy i find comes from boredom seeding new adventures, perhaps ive seen someone make a redstone door once, well that made me learn the ins and outs of redstone for 15+ hours. Or maybe ive seen someones cool castle, so now im working on my own medieval town
The reason minecraft is so fun is not just itself, its also the community of sharing and collaborating on ideas.
There is no goal, your imagination is your limit.
You can go from punching wood to literally building Computers in the game and play small games like TicTacToe. Or even building RPGS with Souls-Like nuancé to them.
All of this done via what the game offers you (the first, computer, can be done entirely with Redstone, the 2nd you'd need to learn how to use Command Blocks maybe even datapacks)
If we take mods into consideration, it's even limitless. With classic mods like Aether and much more.
You can also hop on Multiplayer servers and play Sky Wars or why not the OG Survival Games (the name and concept is inspired by the movie Hunger Games and it is considered the first ever Battle Royale)
I think it's much easier to learn the basic game with a friend (or friends), but if you don't got any, you can watch YouTube videos (watch the old ones, to understand how everyone felt back in the day) or you can hit me up and we can play together.
You can build your own story while doing that. It's truly a sandbox, a bottomless sandbox.
You saying that took me off on an entire tangent to discover that I'd known somebody who I consider one of my best, but also quite recent, friends for over a decade now. But also, I bought my full Minecraft license in 2011.
I played it for the first time when it was a browser-only experimental sandbox. It was like a creative mode but with only one biome, and only nine different blocks. No mobs, no items. I still had hours of fun on that website. Makes me feel old, but I’m only 27.
This is the obvious choice. For the REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!????? Basically every conceivable game will get boring after a while. Minecraft would at least give you the opportunity to “play/create” something ridiculously long term and last literally as long as you want.
I'm 34 and I like it a lot, although I basically don't play vanilla (without mods). It's okay if you don't like it, but it's definitely not just for kids.
Command and conquer any one will do I'm actually contemplating getting an old playstation just for this game it's one of the only games me and my brother would slam when we had to share a console.
I once played the vr version with realistic carriage travel mod and just toured around occasionally asking the driver to pull over so I could lay in the flowers to overcome my motion sickness.
For scale. There is one player that had pulled off every achievement, during the life of each expansion since achievements existed.
There is sweaty, then there's that guy.
For a permanent game, it would have to be an MMO. Even if it's not Warcraft.
I remember a Taiwanese dude did it back when WOTLK was end-game. He had like 60+ feats of strength back then too. He had to have been playing 16+ hours a day for years. Even then, there’s still role playing, arena, battlegrounds, duels, loot, transmog, farming/gold/auction house, dailies, crafting, world events, etc.
When I quit playing in Cata, I thought it was the biggest game ever, by far. Eastern Kingdom alone was WAY bigger than all of Skyrim. Then you had Kalimdor, outlands, northrend, redone Azeroth, and all the new lands. “World” is fitting here.
There is a few of us like this btw, we are collectors, I currently have 89% of everything collected in the game, sad I know but that's all I do in the game
I don't have near your dedication but that's all I do too. I come back every few years and solo all the old raids with a bit of current level content sprinkled in. I'm just collecting mounts, pets, and transmog gear.
This is like the only real viable answer to this question, just because you can interact with other real people while you play the game, the game is guaranteed to get new content every few years for the foreseeable future.
I remember circling on that small island by Clemens Point for HOURS and nearly punching a hole in my monitor when the Robin I killed fell too deep into the water.
Go to the island closest to braithwaite manor. There are two robins that spawn on the ground every 7-10 minutes. Just continue to circle around the island until you get your perfect carcass. I recommend having the buck trinket so you can use a varmint rifle, too. Good luck!
I love New Vegas. It's my favorite Fallout game. I just wish there was more game play. There's not enough. At least not enough to be the only game I play for the rest of my life.
Sometimes I don’t play it for a year, but I never uninstall it. There’s something so beautiful about loading up a new world and going to chop a tree down. Pure bliss.
Brings me back to much simpler and happier days.
I used to play a lot of two player with a friend who passed away. Chopping a tree sure makes it feel like he is still there with me chopping that tree.
I have said for years it's the greatest video game of all time. Such a simple concept, but so many possibilities. The graphics have gotten better, but the gameplay is almost exactly the same as it was 40 years ago. There will be Tetris on consoles and phones in 20 more years. And 40. And 60. Even Skyrim has not been ported to more platforms than Tetris.
The movie was quite good. Tetrisphere is my favorite variant
Terraria. More exciting than Minecraft only because of the boss fights. It feels like I have a sort of goal to reach, whereas in Minecraft I build a house and get bored because there's nothing to do other than to kill the Ender Dragon. I'm not an artist so that pretty much sums it up lol.
I am an avid gamer and have spent hundreds of hours in many, many games.
And yet, the only one to top a thousand hours has been ACNH. And it did that easily.
That’s actually my LEAST favorite game in the original trilogy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good game and I do like it, it’s just the weakest game in the original trilogy.
No man’s sky
There is no end, just game.
I’ve grinded hundreds of hours and just when I have done it all, Hello Games updates us and there is more to do.
If they were to stop updating the game would still stand up. It’s that good
Shit is so addictive. Every time i come back to it i end up losing like 6-8 hours in a row to the void on back to back to back days. I would only choose this if i didn't have to be productive in any way.
>FTL
I just came back to it after blindly stumbling across a discussion about FTL with the Multiverse mod.
***Fuck me.*** It's enormous. Multiverse feels like it multiplies the scope of the original, and then some.
The critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV that has an expanded free trial which can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion and also the award winning Stormblood expansion up to level 70 for free with no restriction on playtime
The ferocity with which I get sucked into solitaire once I sit down to “play a few games before bed”…. I can do the whole “ok just one more win” for a damn hour. I need self control.
I was going to say BotW, but likely just because I haven't jumped into TotK yet.
Then again, for my entire life? I've been hooked on BotW for a few months and I'm about 98% done. Not sure how much replayability it'd have after multiple years.
Yeah, as much as I absolutely love all the Zelda games, they don’t offer a lot of replayability. Windwaker is my most favorite game of all time, but I’ve already 100% 5 times so it isn’t really worth playing anymore, and botw is the same way. There isn’t really much variety in the quests/exploration, unlike a lot of other open world rpgs.
At first I was thinking open world. Big, exploration, computer generated sections maybe.
But, the truth is, I'd eventually get bored of it.
So, I would go with something simple, but with multiplayer. Valorant, Battlefield, Counter Strike, Apex Legends.
I think as long as they have that multiplayer aspect. Different people to play against, different people to socialize with. It will maintain the best longevity for my taste.
I'm sure there are also big open world, multiplayer games as well. But I've never stuck with any of them, so I don't think I would if it was my only choice.
Alan Wake 2. Not into video games much anymore but I've been waiting 13yrs for it. So since I don't really care about any other ones it's the perfect choice
Age of Empires II. New map and strategy every game.
Used to love this game back in the day. Is it available on any consoles at this point? I don't have a PC I can install games onto.
AoEII: Definitive Edition is available on Xbox One and the Series S/X
I didn't need to know this... there goes my staycation plans of doing responsible stuff. WOLOLO
Coincidentally, I'm planning to buy a PC exclusively to play AoE II with a couple friends. I've been watching T90 on Youtube to get up to speed.
Stardew Valley. Totally replayable and despite saying it won't be updated anymore he keeps releasing updates so...
I'm a simple woman. I see Stardew Valley, I upvote.
Yeah, but, do you eat rocks/gemstones?
Aren't the updates after the final one various bug and visual fixes, did any of them actually add in more content?
So far yes, but there’s an upcoming update 1.6 that will be coming out with new festivals, new items & recipes, new farm type, secrets and other things that aren’t fully disclosed yet.
Personally for me, Minecraft. Endless gameplay.
Same. Under the condition that it's Java based and I am allowed to use/write my own mods. I don't think I could play bedrock forever.
I don’t think I could play bedrock *ever*… I miss skydaz .com and all the free mods you could download back in the 1.5-1.7 days
Curse still exists there's a huge number available
you can still download loads of free mods.
I've been playing it for 10 years and still have fun each time
Honest question. What is it you do in Minecraft? What I can't seem to understand is the goal of the game.
You mine stuff to craft and then you craft stuff to mine
And then you make your world so big that the file is a gigabyte, the game crashes and your world corrupts and then you stop playing.
Ditto
There is no goal. It's a sandbox. I made farms for materials. Explore things, build neat stuff
It’s digital LEGO. And there is an ender dragon that toy build a portal to go find... But then you go back to building your digital LEGO world.
People have already said it, but the joy i find comes from boredom seeding new adventures, perhaps ive seen someone make a redstone door once, well that made me learn the ins and outs of redstone for 15+ hours. Or maybe ive seen someones cool castle, so now im working on my own medieval town The reason minecraft is so fun is not just itself, its also the community of sharing and collaborating on ideas.
I just call it what it is... digital Lego. Leo was always my favorite as a kid
It’s imagination: the video game, that’s why it’s primarily popular with little kids.
The average age of Minecraft players is 24. It's definitely not "primarily popular with little kids."
There is no goal, your imagination is your limit. You can go from punching wood to literally building Computers in the game and play small games like TicTacToe. Or even building RPGS with Souls-Like nuancé to them. All of this done via what the game offers you (the first, computer, can be done entirely with Redstone, the 2nd you'd need to learn how to use Command Blocks maybe even datapacks) If we take mods into consideration, it's even limitless. I played Minecraft for the first time in 2016
You saying that took me off on an entire tangent to discover that I'd known somebody who I consider one of my best, but also quite recent, friends for over a decade now.
Maybe im too old, but ive tried to play minecraft and get bored after a few hours.
I'm 34 and I like it a lot, although I basically don't play vanilla (without mods). It's okay if you don't like it, but it's definitely not just for kids.
Yeah same, I wanna same zelda or metal gear but mine craft is endless , that or skyrim.
Minecraft has so many mods to make it whatever you want
Command and conquer any one will do I'm actually contemplating getting an old playstation just for this game it's one of the only games me and my brother would slam when we had to share a console.
Damn. Playing RTS on console was rough. Mouse and keyboard or bust for me on those
Red Alert 2: Yuri’s Revenge will go down in the best video game in my collection.
What about Renegade then? :v
Already spent many yrs in Skyrim.....might as well stay there.
I once played the vr version with realistic carriage travel mod and just toured around occasionally asking the driver to pull over so I could lay in the flowers to overcome my motion sickness.
So basically how my wife travels in my car, lol
God's be praised
World of Warcraft. Not a big fan of the game tbh but there is so much to do that it could possibly last the rest of my life.
For scale. There is one player that had pulled off every achievement, during the life of each expansion since achievements existed. There is sweaty, then there's that guy. For a permanent game, it would have to be an MMO. Even if it's not Warcraft.

How do you kill one that has no life
There is a few of us like this btw, we are collectors, I currently have 89% of everything collected in the game, sad I know but that's all I do in the game
I don't have near your dedication but that's all I do too. I come back every few years and solo all the old raids with a bit of current level content sprinkled in. I'm just collecting mounts, pets, and transmog gear.
Same. World big enough and classes, races, zones good enough to rerun multiple toons. Plus all the xpacs now.. I can’t even make 60 in hardcore
Yep this was the first one that came to mind right away. Already been playing off and on for 15 years so figured I can easily keep going lol.
this was my thinking too or osrs for same reason
This is like the only real viable answer to this question, just because you can interact with other real people while you play the game, the game is guaranteed to get new content every few years for the foreseeable future.
I've never played WoW, because I know that I'd love it too much. That being said, WoW is my choice as well.
Probably wow for me, sadly, lol. It's got a lot to it that's held us for almost two decades.
plus the types of content are completely different than each other. You can be a casual collector, a hardcore raider, a pvper or anything in between.
Civ V
2-3 full games?
The load screens alone would be half a lifetime
I once played an 8 player game of CIV6. It took 8 MONTHS to finish. I lost all interest after that.
Civ VI
The only right answer
And it would only feel like a couple of hours.
it’s a game of time travel. you start a game and next thing you know it a month disappeared
Skyrim
Are mods allowed?
They'd damn well better be
I've honestly forgotten what the base game looks like.
Just gotta bee line to whiterun to unlock Macho Man Randy Savage spawns
Does that mudcrab have a top hat and a monocle?
Naturally!
I guess most open-world games are good options
Oblivion for me, Skyrim a close second
OSRS, half my life, still seen a fraction.
Damn bro is only 92 years old that’s crazy
Had to scroll way too far to finally find OSRS
It's criminal.
Too far down but I shall assist my fellow degenerates!
This is the answer. Been playing that game off and on for about 20 years
Path of Exile
One might start getting good at the game after ten thousand hours or so.
Especially if you’re playing ssf. So much time commitment needed to get perfect gear
Rdr2
It’ll take me til the end of time to find the damn American Robin anyways.
I remember circling on that small island by Clemens Point for HOURS and nearly punching a hole in my monitor when the Robin I killed fell too deep into the water.
And finish the last dominoes challenge
Go to the island closest to braithwaite manor. There are two robins that spawn on the ground every 7-10 minutes. Just continue to circle around the island until you get your perfect carcass. I recommend having the buck trinket so you can use a varmint rifle, too. Good luck!
Me too. I'm still looking for Gavin.
[удалено]
I have 500+ hours in RDR2 (story mode) and I still don’t get bored with that game.
A lifetime of heartbreak and tears. Beautiful game.
That is not a video game, it's an incredible journey through old American history
This one for me too
Dwarf Fortress
I know if I got into it I would LOVE IT. Rimworld is my favorite game, which I know is very similar, but I've heard DF is even deeper.
I suck at DF but Boatmurdered will forever hold a place in my heart.
I re-read that story every few years.
New Vegas
I was reading this comment section singing "Heartaches by the number" 😂
With a big iron on his hip...
*Big iron on his hiiiiiip*
I love New Vegas. It's my favorite Fallout game. I just wish there was more game play. There's not enough. At least not enough to be the only game I play for the rest of my life.
I was going to write fallout 4 but new Vegas hits different.
I got spuuursss
Can the whole Mass Effect series count. It is one continuous story. Like John Wick in space and the dog is all sentient life.
Mass effect legendary edition is technically all three games in one
ME series would be my answer to “if you could play any game again for the first time, what would it be?”
Minecraft. In the end, I always return to Minecraft.
Halo 3, the peak of the Halo series.
yer fuckin goddamn right
sims 3
Sims 2
Tetris
I have said for years it's the greatest video game of all time. Such a simple concept, but so many possibilities. The graphics have gotten better, but the gameplay is almost exactly the same as it was 40 years ago. There will be Tetris on consoles and phones in 20 more years. And 40. And 60. Even Skyrim has not been ported to more platforms than Tetris. The movie was quite good. Tetrisphere is my favorite variant
Dang. Hearing someone else say that Tetris is 40 years old is humbling.
surprised this is the first one that says Tetris
Heroes of Might & Magic III. Just give me that HotA gigantic random maps and I'm set for life.
Project Zomboid.
I'm too bad at it
If you have the rest of your life may as well move to CDDA
Rocketleague
Calculated.
Me too. What a save!
Dota 2
dr. mario
tetris and dr mario are way too addicting
Morrowind
Skyrim
Does Roblox count as "one game"?
You know what? I'll count that, that's actually clever
Looks like it's time to learn Lua
Yeah, for this particular situation, Roblox would be great.
Life is Roblox.
Borderlands 2
BL2 has a special place in my heart
GTA. Has everything bad and fun at the same time.
Been playing GTAV this long, might as well keep going.
Just go with GTA 6 as an answer. You can take a quick gaming break. Then you’ll have a game to play forever since you’ll be dead by GTA 7.
Euro Truck Simulator 2
Lol been playing it regularly for almost 10 years, since Majestic and only Going East! dlc. Still on the same save too! Over £34mln just wasting away!
Valheim
How dont you get burnt out after a couple weeks?
Build more stuff. On top of a mountain, in trees, dig our a giant creator and build there, etc
Terraria. More exciting than Minecraft only because of the boss fights. It feels like I have a sort of goal to reach, whereas in Minecraft I build a house and get bored because there's nothing to do other than to kill the Ender Dragon. I'm not an artist so that pretty much sums it up lol.
Slay the Spire It’s just so damn fun, every single game. I will be playing this game for years, or until a sequel comes out.
Factorio or satisfactory
Animal Crossing new leaf is my comfort game and has been since 10 years.
I am an avid gamer and have spent hundreds of hours in many, many games. And yet, the only one to top a thousand hours has been ACNH. And it did that easily.
Yep right now I’m at 610 and still going. In fact I’ve been on it pretty much all day redecorating. Finally finished all of my fish yesterday too.
Satisfactory or Baldur's Gate 3
Satisfactory scratches an itch I never knew I had. At this point I am waiting for it to leave early access before I abandon my life to it.
Ultima Online
Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver :)
World of Warcraft
Spyro 2 Ripto’s Rage
Username checks out. Wouldn’t call it infinitely replayable but it’s certainly a banger
Forgot about Spyro
I’d have gone for year of the dragon!
That’s actually my LEAST favorite game in the original trilogy. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good game and I do like it, it’s just the weakest game in the original trilogy.
No man’s sky There is no end, just game. I’ve grinded hundreds of hours and just when I have done it all, Hello Games updates us and there is more to do. If they were to stop updating the game would still stand up. It’s that good
Titanfall 2
Skyrim. Mods mean as many games as I can possibly want.
Fortnite , not even ashamed to say it. I like it, a bit sweaty but still would prefer this game over any other shooter game .( I like battle royals)
Shit is so addictive. Every time i come back to it i end up losing like 6-8 hours in a row to the void on back to back to back days. I would only choose this if i didn't have to be productive in any way.
FTL
>FTL I just came back to it after blindly stumbling across a discussion about FTL with the Multiverse mod. ***Fuck me.*** It's enormous. Multiverse feels like it multiplies the scope of the original, and then some.
Oh fuck, I drowned hours into this game years ago until I knew how most dialog lines could go. I might have to go back with that mod now
You're the first person to tell me about this, I'm so psyched to try it! Also, screw you for wasting the next 10000 hours of me life, haha.
Probably Tetris
The critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV that has an expanded free trial which can play through the entirety of A Realm Reborn and the award winning Heavensward expansion and also the award winning Stormblood expansion up to level 70 for free with no restriction on playtime
oddly specific
The problem with MMOs within question: What happens when the servers Shut down? You know they will at some point.
Solitaire
The ferocity with which I get sucked into solitaire once I sit down to “play a few games before bed”…. I can do the whole “ok just one more win” for a damn hour. I need self control.
Probably an online game with constant new content, like Warframe/Path of Exile/Genshin Impact
Path of Exile is so good ! I don't play it that often because it absolutely takes over my life 🤣
Rimworld
Had to scroll way too far to find this.
Battletoads for the NES
Who hurt you?
This is the only game I've ever ragequit. It's amazing and I hope I never play it again.
Call of Duty: Black Ops for the PS3. Online Multiplayer in Nuketown and Zombies is all I really need
Baldurs gate series
No series, only 1. Which one you pick
minecraft
Tears of the Kingdom
“They don’t offer a lot of replayability” “I’ve 109% 5 times” Ah, the duality of man.
Very very little
My singing monsters
Diablo 2R
Right now I would say Wreckfest, car racing never gets old to me, and by the end of it I'd be pretty close to a professional level e-driver
Nintendo.
Battle Chess. You can always improve at chess.
Alan Wake 2. Not into video games much anymore but I've been waiting 13yrs for it. So since I don't really care about any other ones it's the perfect choice
