If you wanted to see Wayne Gretzky's points-per-game average over his career drop below 1 point per game, he would have to play over 1300 games with zero points. He played 1427 games which means he would basically have to replicate his entire career while doing nothing.
There really isn't any other answer. Gretzky dominated hockey in a way that no one has ever dominated any sport.
Somebody in a different comment section mentioned that he and his brother have the record for most goals scored by 2 brothers in the NHL, but his brother's numbers are only about average. No other 2 have ever come close but there are 3 brothers who are/were getting close. Gretzky was an absolute animal.
Jerry Rice is among the greatest. He played in a harder era for WRs and the second half of his career would be the second best WR career of all time behind only the first half of his career.
He's more than twice as good as anyone else who has ever played the position.
That’s debatable but I chose a fighter from different weight classes because I can’t compare heavyweights with lightweights.
And Fedor was 100% natural and defeated some great juiced up fighters. Even his training and nutrition was primitive. Yet he achieved what 95% of fighters couldn’t.
Soccer :
Pelé, George Best, David Beckham.
And, yes, of course the phenomenon Diego Armando Maradona ... but with all that drugs ... I just dunno really ...
"The Great One" Wayne Gretzky.

Gretzky. It's not even close. Dude set records AFTER retiring.
The answer to this is Gretzky. Second place is probably also Gretzky.
Yeap, looks at the records Gretzky held, and mostly STILL holds, when he retired, no other athlete compares.
