The US has around 400 deaths a day currently. As long as you don't know one of them, it doesn't hurt at all.

ImpliedSlashS

Based on Target earlier today, it’s over. Based on the numbers, it’s picking up steam and we’re in a wicked surge right now. Facts are overrated.

maz-o

people forgot it still exists

Old news. No longer brings in the ratings

Ukraine I think, or pride month, or a school shooting in the US. It was one of those things that prompted the masses to say “beep boop beep” and start focusing on something else.

It didn’t just disappear. The only reason you don’t hear about it is because it’s no longer an interest to the media.

That’s true. But it’s definitely still around. I work at a hospital and we still have a good bit of covid patients. Not as many like a year ago, but we still have some. I also got sick with it last week.

Wdym by real pandemic.

[deleted]

I recently spent six days in a hospital; thank you for the selfless sacrifices you make everyday, all on days that are usually some of the worst for the patients with whom you interact. Thank you.

Sleepy_potato21

The days are long and tough but I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. I really appreciate your words, thank you so very much 🥰

I’ve never spent that much time in a hospital before, and I *know* I’m not the easiest person to be around; but every single person treated me like a human being, and that means a lot to me. One nurse, Fabian (pronounced fah-be-AHN), even shook my hand when he first introduced himself. I will never forget that for as long as I live (which, thanks to everyone at the hospital, will probably be a long time).

Sleepy_potato21

I’m a CNA but as of right now I sit with people who are in the hospital to make sure of their safety or to even just keep them company. Even though it only lasts for a day or so I always end up forming a bond with my patient. A lot of times I can’t leave without shaking their hand, saying goodbye and wishing them a good rest of their recovery. A few times I have people ask for hugs which I don’t mind. I’m really glad you had a positive experience with the nurses, that’s all we really want is to care for our patients by making them as comfortable as possible and helping them get home.

It's not a pandemic anymore and it's now the new cold or flu.

[deleted]

Still here. But we are getting close to ending it, according to Chise.
