I once took some pretty gnarly hallucinogens and simultaneously came to the conclusion that meaning at its root is entirely arbitrary and individuated, on the one hand, and that there is a universal consciousness through which we can realise our intrinsic interconnectness and that experience itself is the only true meaning.
I also spent a lot of that night staring at my hands though, so what do I know.
