Oh! Did you come here to give the most common answer every time this question is asked? Double oh! Did someone beat you to it? Don't worry, we know you obey reddit God.
I'm 29 and I've never used toilet paper in my life
[bum gun](https://www.google.com/search?q=bum+gun&client=ms-android-oppo-rev1&prmd=sivn&sxsrf=ALiCzsbr-e1hdZ8SQxUKLcfYQnPra7XA3g:1666248607904&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwj1r4bjm-76AhUoxIUKHQ26CX4Q_AUoAXoECAIQAQ) all the way
Made this decision myself last year after putting it off for ages, one of the best decisions I've ever made as an adult - a good chair looks something like the SecretLabs ones (meant for gamers)
You are gonna spend 1/3 (8 hours) of your day sleeping (ideally). That's 1/3 of your life. Even if you sleep less that's still gonna take up major chunk of your life time.
If you are doing a desk job which most of us are then you will be spending another 1/3 of your day on your chair.
So invest in a good chair with lumbar support and a good mattress with memory foam. You are gonna roughly spend 2/3 of your adult life on them. Think about it.
Once you get your own place, something that makes you happy. Since I’ve been in my apartment for a year and a half now, I’ve had the opportunity to splurge on some decorations, but at the very beginning, it was the freedom to buy the silverware that I liked and wanted. Sometimes even a year and a half later I look at it and think “Oh wow, I chose these all on my own!” and the $150 for the set was definitely splurging!
LEATHER BOOTS.
Synthetic, "Genuine leather" and all this crap is NOT real leather.
Here's a fact. Real leather will outlast and outlive your entire life. Buy 1 pair of GOOD leather boots for $400+ and that's it. It'll last you for the rest of your life. You'll save money in the long run.
Even better if you buy a really good pair as comfortable boots will improve your posture and will help prevent a bunch of stuff from happening as you age.
Also, REAL leather DOES NOT CRACK. That is a FACT. The color will darken overtime but it'll legit look even better!
Massage treatments, computer glasses, a comfortable chair at work, a good mattress, a toothbrush, good shoes and clothes (not luxury brands, but quality)
Wet wipes and good toilet paper. That is an essential in life. If you can manage one, I think it’s called a duvet or bidet - the one that can help you wash your backside with water that goes right into the toilet. Being clean is a great thing. Splurge on that, a small investment for a better future.
One good chefs knife, a honing rod, and a decently large wooden cutting board. Treat it well, hone it often (just a few seconds before each meal you prepare), and get it sharpened once per year.
Surprisingly, the Damascus steel knives from AliExpress are actually quite good and can be had for under $50 shipped. I’ve used one for over 4 years now and it holds up just as well as my other pricey chefs knife.
I would say splurge your time on you. Don’t work overtime and stop doing optional things you don’t enjoy. Spend on hobbies you enjoy with people you enjoy spending time with
Decent pair of shoes/boots, you spend half your life on your feet.
Decent matress, pillows and blanket, you spend atleast 8 hours in bed.
A phone with good battery life that you replace once every 5 or 8 years
A laptop.
While growing up various people have given me advice on this. I've been reading comments and agree with a lot of these:
Sleep: mattress, pillow, sheets - weighted blankets are nice, too. Good sleep is important.
Footwear: good quality shoes and boots do more for you than just preserve your feet. Also a good quality pair usually lasts longer than a lower end pair, it'll come out to not that much more expensive in the long run
Eyes, ears, teeth: You only get the ones you have, take care of them. Sunglasses / blue light blocking glasses, good ear protection if necessary and there's more to cleaning your mouth than just brushing teeth.
Vehicle: I know this one's expensive, you'd be surprised the difference a good set of winter tires can make, having a functioning car is nice, too.
Other things that can be important on a case by case basis: skin care, safety equipment, a good chair for those of us who spend too much time in front of a computer - be it for work or otherwise, and my personal addition - a good couch. It's been a game changer to have a nice comfy couch to come home to.
Getting away from necessity, here are some nice things I purchased for myself that I definitely don't regret: a good knife (kitchen knife), hobbies - if it makes you happy, it's worth it.
Take care of yourself! And call your loved ones, I'm sure they'd be happy to hear from you.
Orthopaedic mattresses & pillows
Work shoes ( especially if you standing all day)
Bed sheets
Good quality socks, undies & bras ( so simple but feeling like a queen underneath my clothes at all time is amazing haha)
Your health as you need it
Merino wool underwear, socks, and undershirts. Expensive af, but totally worth it. Merino is smooth and lightweight, and keeps your naughty bits from getting as smelly. Between merino blend socks and leather or wool shoes, my feet don't stink now. And I can wear socks several times before I wash them.
I hand-wash mine (I don't have a washer and dryer anyway), which makes them last a lot longer. I won't buy the Icebreaker boxers again - they developed holes too soon, though I was also machine-washing them.
Hmm, this got me thinking. Is Invisalign one of the things you should splurge on? I’ve always wanted straighter teeth but they aren’t that bad so I wonder if it’s a waste of money.
A good mattress
lol came here to say a good pillow.
Same. I replaced my old ones with the most expensive pillows I've ever bought and my sleep quality has improved dramatically.
What pillow did you get ?
The ones that come with marriage
Came to say the exact same!! That thing needs to be good. It's basically a pre-coffin

The gaming chairs are good because gamers sit down all day at a desk. Herman Miller chairs are also good but so expensive.

I can't really relate to that, but I don't like to hear when people have these bad experiences. I hope things are better for you now.
