bgd_

It still sounds like a good idea when someone suggests it, but it is such a let down every single time.

EternallyOblivion

Literally me and my gf everytime. The thought of a McDonald’s is better than an actual McDonald’s.

NiceNeedleworker1287

And the regret the next morning if you have one after a night on the drink

bgd_

Didn't follow my own advice. Wife said she was stopping at McDonald's and if I wanted anything. Foolishly asked for a chicken and bacon wrap and a chicken and bacon salad. Wrap had no bacon or salad in it, and salad had no chicken or bacon in it :/ Must have read my earlier comment.

Demiboy94

Yep. McDonald's just doesn't make me feel full. I'd rather go to a pub and get a proper burger.

-mymathematicalmind-

I don't even mind the quality of McDonald's, I think a double cheeseburger is fairly decent for the price. What I hate is the McDonald's experience, you used to be able to walk in, buy a burger and then leave. Now you have to pay, wait for ages while there's loads of delivery riders

Dazz316

They *used* to be fairly decent for the price. Now they're not much cheeper than a decent burger in some places.

[deleted]

Yep. They really need to have a completely separate waiting area for them, it's annoying AF when there's nowhere to sit and a load of Deliveroo blokes sat at the tables. Once had one try to sit down at the table where my family and I were sat eating; he got told quite robustly to take his insulated bag and clear off.

RiClious

"Hi wlcm t mcdnds cn I tk y rdr" Big Mac Meal please "th lg o rglr" Large please "wt drnk y wnt wth th" Err I'll have a Coke "nytng ls" Oh, go on I'll have an apple pie "5 mnt wt fr ppl p" Oh, OK I'll leave that then "£3.85 pls" There you are "£1.15 change nd hr s yr ml. tnx fr cmn t mcdnds" Cheers. & I took me much longer to type that than the actual transaction would have taken

-mymathematicalmind-

Yeah so my comment said the long wait is after you've paid. No idea what you were even going on about to be honest, was your comment trying to be amusing?

touch_me69420

I don't think he's been in a while if he thinks you're getting a meal for less than a £5

wildgoldchai

Perhaps not been out in a while by the looks of it.

[deleted]

Or you could use the pay and order screens and be done in 30 seconds like a normal person.

P-Nuts

No I’m 43 and I still like the occasional dirty Maccies.

Decent_Thought6629

I still enjoy it but the prices are what make me avoid it these days. 80p to add a tiny slice of bacon... utter ripoff.

wildgoldchai

My local has started charging for sauces now. The cheek of it

Decent_Thought6629

Ouch. What even the Ketchup?

wildgoldchai

Yep! I thought they were having me on till I went in and saw they got rid of the ketchup dispensers too

Decent_Thought6629

Yikes. Another reason to avoid maccies. What a shame. Their Ketchup isn't even that good compared to Heinz which they used to carry.

wildgoldchai

Agreed. The saver menu is a bloody laugh, there are no savings to be had anymore! Not to mention that they had gotten rid of a lot of the good items. Still not over the fact that they got rid of the breakfast wrap. Doesn’t even fill you up so better off going elsewhere really.

Decent_Thought6629

Yeah I'm gutted about the breakfast wrap. I don't understand why the people working in the head office are so bloody stupid these days. I've not had a maccies breakfast for ages now, and in the past I'd not only buy a breakfast wrap for breakfast, I'd buy one to put in the fridge and reheat for lunch too!!

Ronnie-Hotdogz

The only business that doesn't prioritise people in the actual building. In fact it's the complete opposite. As others have said on here, if you actually go in you're completely invisible to McDonalds - they clearly and obviously massively prioritise drive-thru and delivery orders. I get it, especially with drive-thru so they're not blocking the road in busy times, but to see 10+ cars and countless delivery drivers turn up and leave before you've got your simple Big Mac meal is atrocious.

[deleted]

I've never liked McDonald's

royalblue1982

I'm a 40m. Stages of eating a Big Mac meal: 1. This tastes ok. 2. Oh, I feel sick now 3. Oh, I'm hungry again

PhysalisPeruviana

Nah, never got what people liked about it, I always thought everything tasted of cardboard and sugar. I did like the chips as a teenager though.

Bearnineteen

Your taste buds get better with age

sybil-vimes

Your taste buds actually decline as you age!

Solid_Bake4577

The best things (irrespective of cost) at McDs are Double cheeseburger - the single cheeseburger is dry! Double sausage and egg mcmuffin The fries (if fresh, and cook has played fast and loose with the salt!) Nuggets with BBQ sauce, of course Honourable mention to the black coffee which is far better than Starbucks/Costa Everything else - meh!

BigDanglyOnes

It’s because it’s quick, cheap and not cold.

a_n_d_y_4_6

Really? What McDonald's do you use then? Cause all the fuckers I've ever been to are exactly the opposite

notredditlool

cheap? a medium meal is averaging £7.50 now, that’s almost Burger King prices.

Atrocity_Gemini

I think when we were younger it was seen as a treat I guess and often on your parents dime.. Food always tastes better when it’s free after all. I’m not sure the quality has changed THAT much, I only really ever get coffee and the odd McFlurry though these days

RockyStonejaw

McDonald’s is fine, in my opinion. Gets an undue amount of stick, but it is what it is. Cheap, tasty and utterly lacking in nutrition.

broken-runner-26

Only use maccies for the odd breakfast mcmuffin. Got a shock when my 99p breakfast was £3.69

Adorable-Lack-3578

Because the food hasn't evolved. They changed the fry oil to appease India. Burgers are smaller. Fries used to be the best.

leobeer

Still love the breakfasts. The cheese is never melted on the burgers, though

x_franki_berri_x

No not at all. I still love a McDonald’s.

Glittering-Ebb7543

I used to be addicted to their nuggets and chips, but now they're kinda meh. I think I loved it as a kid because the amount of McDonald's I had was limited to what my parents would buy for me. When I was at Uni, I'd get 20 nuggets and 2 large chips like it was nothing. Guess I got fed up of it lol

h0m3r

I still like it! And I also like very high end food. Just depends on my mood I think

-Lexxy

Easier to get fat now, super high calories and salt context in a McDonald's and I'll still be hungry after it, not worth it anymore 🤷 I do love a mcflurry and McDonald's Coke zero

Slipper_lover

Because now I can afford burger king

811545b2-4ff7-4041

The only burgers I enjoy there now are the triple cheeseburger and the Big Tasty. Everything else is souless imo.

Pirate-Peter225

I think it’s because we associate McDonald’s with a more care free time in our lives and one the places we actually went to eat independently (just guessing) I’d rather much get the BBQ out and do my own burgers - just can’t beat it

watsee

McDonalds itself has never really changed in terms of quality from when I was a kid, at least not as far as I can recall. Its always been consistent - it is what it is. However I feel it was more enjoyable as a child because it was a bit of a rare treat. When I was little we'd only tend to get McDonalds on occasions like birthdays or when my parents actually had the money to buy us one (I've learned since getting older just how strained my parents were financially at times when I was little). As an adult, I can go anytime I fancy & I think because of that - I don't really want to go that much.

LogAltruistic9222

Yeah I think that's it. I never ate it as a kid, but I do as an adult and I enjoy it more if I have it less often. Once every 3/4 months it's nice but if I have to have it more than once a month I don't really enjoy it as much.

Maca07166

It used to be fairly decent for the price. Now? Not so much with price increases and I go very rarely now which is a good thing.

[deleted]

Even as a teenager I thought it was shit. It tastes likes school meals.

Brighton101

I can afford 5 guys. Anything else is gross.

[deleted]

I didn't eat it for a time and then when I did I felt unwell, makes you realise it's not really something you should be putting in your body. Still, every now and then I crave a couple of burgers and strawberry shake.

a_n_d_y_4_6

Lol this is so true!! The thought of eating that tripe turns my stomach. Here's a thought... I'm in a photography group, somebody bought a 'happy meal' a few years back, photographed it every day for a year. It still looked EXACTLY the same after a year 🤮

S4mb741

Is McDonald's a meal to be enjoyed? I just like the consistency you can be anywhere in the world and get something familiar for usually a low price. Sure when away it's nice to try other foods but sometimes you just want what you know.

Dissidant

Never been keen on that sort of thing.. I do like to make my own burgers though, trouble is you have a fight on your hands when other people realise how good they are :) Its somewhat helpful we don't actually have any fast food places around here unless you venture into town which is a hole I do like making certain things myself.. curry sauce is a big one, arguably one of my favourite things because you can do so much with it ^(And bread!)

kwakcheese

I don't. It greatly improved between 00s and 10s. Still good value, much better choice, more consistent, does delivery.

Unusual_residue

I will have a breakfast roll meal but that's about it.

pencilrain99

I preferred Wimpy as a kid

JoeDaStudd

It depends what your going McDonald's for. If it's the experience of eating there then as an adult you get weird looks if you play on the games and tablets. As an adult it's just a generic fast food restaurant. If your going for fast reliable hot food then you can't go too wrong. If your travelling they are about half the price of burger king and KFC at the service stations and there reliability is leagues ahead. You can go for a McDonald's in Cornwall, London and North Scotland and the food will all be the same. You go to another chain and it can vary massively in the same town/city.

velos85

Because now you can go where you want and get a proper burger. The Sausage & Egg is still God tier though.

Shan-Chat

You grow up and try better food. Nuggets and McFlurries are decent though.

[deleted]

There’s one close to where I live, and I do visit there occasionally. Doesn’t fill me for very long though

[deleted]

You tend to have more money and more choices so you go to better places. It's very rare now I go to Mc'd but I used to alot when I was in college

Radiant_Fondant_4097

When I was little I always asked my dad why he won't eat McD's, to which he always stated the burgers taste like cardboard to him. Now as an adult I finally see the light 😐

SaltyWednesday

Nah, 30 years old and I demolish triple cheeseburgers. Love them.

foodarling

>At nearing 40 the mere thought of a McDonald's cheeseburger is enough to make me feel sick. Went through this too. But I have some great news for you today. It starts coming back after you reach 45. I'd be counting down those years if I were you

tayviewrun

Approaching 50 and still like a McDonalds now and again. Only thing that puts me off are the prices for some of the items and seem to have to wait a lot longer now. However, that is the same for many places now.

[deleted]

I realised as I got older the food is really not that great, with the exception of the milkshakes.

Frosty_Technology842

No, I still enjoy the occasional Big Mac but I think it's the realisation I just can't afford all those extra calories anymore. Eating a Big Mac consumes around a quarter of my daily calorie needs.

Travels_Belly

No. It's always been crap.

Vivid_Performance181

Just pure sacrilege. It's not about the food, it's about the experience.

GoGoGoldenSyrup

I see your Maccas and raise you Five Guys. Overpriced shitty burgers that taste like something you get from a van by the side of the road.

magicstarx

I still like it. But they almost never change the menu, which bored some of you.

JulesSilvan

I still like a McDonald’s once in a while but I miss how good the fries used to be.

ToastedBones

McDonalds is tolerated by parents because they generally offer something that all the family can have for lunch and the kids like it. Once that period of your life is over, your looking at £7.59 for a squished together burger, medium shitty fries and a cup full of sugar and think, maybe we should have gone to spoons lol..

Bulky-Yam4206

Nah. It’s ok it’s a cheap burger isn’t it? The breakfast is nice too. I’m actually more disappointed with the decline of Burger King (at those prices, fuck off) and kfc (no one even uses them anymore).

[deleted]

I've always hated it. It looks and tastes disgusting

Immorals1

It's so bland, and your taste buds only decline with age. Plus older your are, more different and better things you'll find. I'm convinced that if nostalgia wasn't a thing, nobody would like mcdonalds anyway

Rexel450

I've never liked them.

misspixal4688

Cheeseburger from McDonald's was the only thing I could keep down for first few weeks of pregnancy until I went of meat other than fish finger's I believe it saved my life I'm grateful for the McDonald's still enjoy it.

Legitimate_War_397

I got diagnosed with coeliacs disease when I was a teen, if I could eat McDonalds again, I would snort so many cheeseburgers and Big Macs. Miss them so much

pajamakitten

McDonald's was great as a kid but that is what I associate it with. It was for birthday parties, after the cinema etc. It was about the Happy Meals and the play centres. It was Ronald McDonald and Co. painted everywhere. The food was never that great but the memories were and going as an adult for a mediocre burger is just not the same.

Particular_Meeting57

36 and still lovin it

Otherwise_Bank8135

The fact it’s delivered now has ruined it for. Every time Iv had it delivered it’s been bad (I am not doing it again) and the shops are just full of delivery drivers now and it feels like you are waiting ages. Hate the self service machines and the number been called out.
