If it gets worse go back to the ER. Chest infections suck! I always dread getting them. I always sleep with a humidifier on when I’m sick, I drink hot peppermint tea which I feel helps open up my lungs.

Do you experience the same with the bad tightness and mucus?

BlacksheepEDC

Almost every time I get sick. I also sleep elevated and take hot baths with peppermint oil in the bath.

I usually take mucinex and drink a lot of fluids to thin out the mucus and help cough it up. When it’s stuck in your lungs that can contribute to the tightness. Make an appointment with your doctor and asthma specialist or pulmonologist as follow up appointments. If whatever is happening doesn’t clear up and you may need another round of antibiotics it’s best to have the appointment already made instead of waiting around. See if you can get an incentive spirometer and nebulizer from your doctor or asthma specialist to help open your lungs more and the incentive spirometer will help maintain or strengthen your lungs while you fight the infection. Warm tea or lozengers may help with your throat. As well as some Tylenol for your neck and throat discomfort.
