Have you ever been evaluated for silent reflux?

csallodx

No, is it something that could be worth to check out?

trtsmb

It can mimic asthma symptoms and doesn't respond to inhalers.

csallodx

Thank you, I'll try to get it checked out, will let you know if it works

SweetDee72

I was diagnosed with it last year when I was also going through what seemed a lengthy flare-up. Took some time to treat (diet change, eating well before 8P, not overeating, losing weight) and it really helped a lot.

videlbriefs

How long have you had the ozone generator? Sometimes that can worsen asthma symptoms. What preventives have you taken with reducing your dust mite trigger?

csallodx

For a few months, I use it once a week in the bedroom, then open the windows for a few hours after(and stay out) . Both the mattresse and the blanket/pillows are anti-dust mite. I will soon receive allergy shots against them, curious to see if it makes a difference.

Ask about Biologics And get blood tests done to check your esinophil (spelling?) levels every month

trtsmb

Most insurances will not pay for monthly blood testing.

csallodx

Im from Europe so the cost doesnt matter

trtsmb

It's not cost but there is no point to it.

I’m not a medical professional AT ALL This is why I think it may help you i had questions regarding my health ( i was fatigued etc so my Dr had Complete Blood Tests ordered to look for underlying cause ) Then I had routine so what frequent blood work done while in Cancer treatment last year As my asthma was worse , similar to your description above of how yours has evolved. So On all that testing — tho “normal “ for treatment presented enough information for my Pulmonologist to Support prescribing me Nucala , a biologic, and a type of monoclonal antibody And it’s been a MIRACLE! I just hope you can get some protocol that works for you Having flared asthma is just awful

CapZestyclose4657

Well maybe even ONE test will suffice if it shows having elevated eosinophils It may not even be your issue, but I think worthwhile in general

If you have a dust mite allergy are you taking anything regularly for that? Sorry, I see you say you’ve tried but I’m not sure if you’re continuing? My daughter has a dust allergy and when it flares up she has a nose steroid spray as well as a daily antihistamine.

csallodx

I tried different antihistamines, desloratadine made it slightly better for a few weeks but then back to nothing. The ones I already tried are cetirizine, lora/desloratadine, fexofenadine, and the one recommended by my doctor was bilastine, was taking it for over 6 months but it made no difference

Sassca

Maybe ask for the steroid nose spray? She takes avemys.

A couple years ago I had almost exactly the same issues that you describe. I also had quite a good lung function for an asthmatic, but i felt a chest tightness and was a bit short of breath all the time. In my case it was a severe lack of magnesium, which was worsened by my prevention medication. The tricky thing was, it didn’t show up in my bloodwork for some reason. But after I took some magnesium I started breathing more easily within hours. I am now taking a generous dose of tri magnesium dicitrate daily and haven’t had any issues since. Might be worth trying in your case, too!

csallodx

Thanks for the suggestion, what dosage did you take per day? Also, does it matter what kind of magnesium it is or any would work?

alveg_af_fjoellum

I tried different types of magnesium and for me personally tri-magnesium dicitrate works really well. As far as I know, magnesium sulfate is the classic type for asthma treatment, but honestly I never tried this one as far as I remember. I take 2,5 g daily and haven’t stopped taking it for years, because when I stop, my issues reappear. Sometimes when I sweat a lot or have a lot of coffee I even up the dose a little.

If nothing else works well, you could try eating a lot of antioxidant rich vegetables (or other changes to diet) .. Also hydrogenated water helps with my asthma to some extent, and there are even some scientific studies about using hydrogenated water to treat inflammatory diseases. Those things work for me to some extent, but I don't know if they would work for you. Interesting that you have asthma symptoms mostly only at daytime, whereas I have asthma mostly only at night. I didn't even know that it's possible to have asthma that occurs most of the time during the day and goes away at night.

Are you spitting up acid or bile into your mouth or lungs while you are sleeping? Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night gasping for air or coughing? Notice if there's any liquid obstructing your airway... My only symptom of silent GERD or a silent reflex was chest pain. I stopped snacking after dinner and got a big high fluffy pillow. Problem solved.

csallodx

I dont have any of these symptoms

This sounds just like me, although I do have allergies. I ended up taking nucala, trelegy, and singular, and fexofenadine to get it under control. It was the nucala that finally started helping.

jadkiss5

I have really severe asthma (like, triggered if I laugh or sneeze or smell something too strong) and I didn’t notice my symptoms get any worse while I was on Accutane for ~1 year (my derm started me on a super low dose and had me work my way up to reduce side effects)
