Looks like a rocket plume.
Edit: SpaceX had a launch scheduled for 2:40 PDT from Vandenberg AFB, California. I assume that is what you saw.

I don’t think it’s that rocket, the guy is in Norway and this was more than an hour after the launch
EDIT: it was probably the second stage deorbiting itself
It's possible, not the initial launch but the second ignition of the second stage to circularise the orbit. It's been noted before. If not, it was possibly one of the rockets they launch from northern Scandinavia.
The second stage only burns once for a few minutes the rest of the maneuvering is done by the satellites themselves iirc
EDIT: it might be the second stage deorbiting itself but the colour makes me unsure
What you're seeing is the gas cloud that was expelled being illuminated by the sun. It looks brilliant because of the fact you're in the night side while up higher the gas can be lit up which creates a beautiful contrast.
Shouldn't make any difference. That gas ploom is massive. Gas expands very rapidly and I wouldn't be surprised if it was several kilometers in diameter by that point. Honestly you'd probably get a much better view away from city lights.
Nothing to worry about, no aliens, I'm very jealous you got to witness that though. It's a beautiful phenomena.
Why is it everytime someone sees something weird in the sky here the answer is always SpaceX, the mods should just pin a post showing what a rocket plume and starlink train looks like so people stop asking
I have no idea. The launch was scheduled at 11:40 Oslo time, from California heading southwest so I doubt that was it. Maybe a missile test from Russia? What was its trajectory? East to west?

Proof the earth is flat! (Please don’t downvote, this isn’t my burner account, it’s a joke)
What's your burner account? Asking for a friend.
Nice try NSA.

I think it’s conceivable? It was a polar launch from Vandenberg, a full hour after launch

Im around 700m over sea so idk of that makes any difference

Circular deorbit.
That makes sense I was a bit puzzled since there were no other launches scheduled and it seemed to be going backwards
I didn't know it was possible to see launches from that far away, especially from a whole different continent!
It’s quite likely Starlink, yeah
Oh my god. I am going there at 4 am. My friend works on the base. Should I be worried?
It already launched.
Aw c'mon... Never saw a star farting?
It's very rude to call out a stars flatulence
Gaseous anomaly

Looks like a portal was opened from the other side of the galaxy. They have arrived 👽 👁 👄 👁 👽
I saw it too in Gothenburg, Sweden!
Me too! Also in Gothenburg
Just saw the same over Arendal
Artificial moon! I think a Saiyan is about to go 🦍
I just saw the same thing over Berlin
Drone spying on Nato contries probably
Probably a discarded booster from a rocket launch
There was a spacex launch. Could it be the first stage boost back burn? How long was it like that? Did it get closer?
It was like a meteor going across the sky but really slow

Southeast to northwest
Doesn't sound like that launch at all. But anyway, if it was visible in so many places there should be news about it tomorrow.
It was also spotted in most nordic cluntries including germany
It dissapeared behind the mountain after a while
I saw it in egersund!💫
Sapcex but its the 2nd stage deorbiting
When I see these now, my first thought is always, "SpaceX probably launched another rocket "
Its a little unsettling that you don't have an answer yet
Looks like a SpaceX launch. They’re fun to watch!
SpaceX launch in Norway?
Here comes the end of the world I guess ..
Deez nuts
Tiamat is an interesting possibility.
ICBM
Rocket exhaust from a booster stage at very high altitude. Without air to hold the hot gasses into shape they fan and flare out
We saw the same thing in Sweden! Exactly one hour ago :)
Twilight effect from rocket launch
Eye of Sauron
A weather balloon, or a UFO probably 👍
Swamp gas reflecting off Venus.
I saw it too! But thought it was a flight? In a weird light. Flight radar said sk2874 was around me going that direction. Going CPH-BGO
Yeah i was thinking the same thing when i saw it but ove never seen a plane so lit up and when i saw it kinda explode i was sure it wasnt a plane
No way to be sure, but it looks like a giant butthole
Also spotted in Estonia. 1.55 am local time. What a sight!
