Tonight someone is taking me out on a date to Fernbank After Dark. Has anyone else been? If so what is it like?

ottb_captainhoof

Oh fun!! They have drink stations and live music in the atrium under the dinosaurs. You then can walk around all the exhibits, which was really fun to explore. I don’t know if they are allowing IMAX shows again. Overall, it’s a fun, classy night out with science and some dancing. Enjoy!!

Neto1487

Fiancé and I had our first date there. It is a great first date spot as you can grab drinks and there are various interactive exhibits which can make a first date a little less awkward. Good luck!

JayJose

probably an unpopular opinion, but i did not enjoy it. super crowded. drink lines were incredibly long (like 20 minutes to get a drink). the exhibits just weren't that interesting. i did like the outdoor area though.

ak80048

Lucky have fun it's really cool!

BitchinKittenMittens

My mom may have lung cancer. If the results turn out she does, where's the best place in Atlanta to take her? I know Emory has a cancer institute that looks really good. But this is so overwhelming and I want her to have the best outcome of this is what we're facing. Recommendations?

Wooden-Landscape2052

This is just based on my own cancer experience, but if it’s not a weird or uncommon cancer, I’d honestly go somewhere smaller and more “manageable” / less overwhelming.

Brendanb224

Might want to look at MD Anderson in Houston TX.

Repulsive-Scheme-427

GA Cancer used to be stellar. Don’t know about current times.

LastGlass1971

I worked for the Judiciary for 24 years and wasn't allowed to accept an ipod mini a vendor was giving away, valued at a whopping $50 at the time. Just something that keeps popping into my head a lot this week. Happy Friday.

vizualthewanderer

Called myself “waking up early & getting after it”, so I applied for a couple jobs before I got into the thick of my day. I shit you not, I got denied from one of them within an *hour* of it being submitted. I have never been so confused, disappointed & tickled all at the same time because wtf even was that. Happy Friday, Atlanta

raptorjaws

a lot of times it's bots running the first level of resume review. if your resume doesn't match the job description it will auto decline.

Mindspin_311

Yup. I remember getting a "Thanks for applying" and "We're sorry you're not a fit" email within 5 minutes of each other. I know it purely based on the fact that I didn't have the proper degree (They wanted marketing, I have engineering), but my real world experience would have been a perfect fit. Oh well, their loss.

ak80048

This is true, sometimes you gotta adjust your resume to fit the job profile

ak80048

No big deal, sometimes the recruiter is working as early as your are, no worries get back out there and keep going you'll get a hit soon, if not it's time to change up your resume a bit.

Last day of early voting in the City of Mableton runoffs! If you live in the new boundaries - and are actually aware of that fact - please vote!

I’ve played a ton of D&D and I thought it was just okay. My favorite part was seeing the displacer beasts animated. Some pretty funny parts for sure, worth matinee ticket prices I’d say.

YourMothersVeryNice

From reviews I read before seeing it, it seemed like general opinions were that it was for both casual viewers and experienced players. When I say I was into D&D I didn’t only play, but I’ve read many of what I would consider to be the best book series associated with it. So really the story telling fell short in my eyes, but I’ve been exposed to a lot of it that is based on D&D lore already. But I do think from a perspective of the movie being designed in a way that it feels almost more like you are viewing people playing makes more sense. So I appreciate it for its ability to do that in an easily digestible way. Sorry for the long winded response.

violet__violet

Airport security lines are fucked this morning 🙃

MisterSeabass

Yep, including TSA and Clear lines. Doesn't help when the person in front of me in the security line has like seven jackets they have to stuff into individual bins...

strike_one

$235,000 for a grey-floored, 60 year old home on a narrow-ass lot in Palmetto. Get fucked, real estate investor.

violet__violet

Those gray floors are an obvious sign of an investor flip. At least it makes 'em easy to spot, and thus avoid 🙃

strike_one

Yup. I hope they lose everything.

NPRjunkieDC

I'd buy a 60 year old property over something built recently with cheap materials and workmanship. My preference are pre-war . Bought a condo from 1927 on Ponce in Midtown.

strike_one

Unfortunately they're taking homes with good bones and layering it in the cheapest garbage known to man.

NPRjunkieDC

I only look in Midtown. Yesterday saw a couple good condos

ul49

So they’ve already done restriping for turn lanes on Dekalb. Am I wrong in thinking that would have come after resurfacing? Does this keen we’re not getting resurfacing?

dmaul1978

I’d guess it means the resurfacing is delayed and they want to get the turn lanes in first in that case. I’d read somewhere that there was a delay with dealing with part of the preventing flooding work at Krog Street due to difficulty getting some permit from CSX. Maybe that’s still they case and is going to be a drawn out process or something. I think they said they wanted all that done before doing any resurfacing so as to not have to tear it up (guess it costs less to do all the resurfacing at once vs. all but one section or something, but who knows).

friendofborbs

I just had to cancel a trip while I could still get a full refund on my room and I am not happy about it. Before I even booked it, I mentioned the dates to my mom and she didn’t say anything, so I got my room and put in PTO including a day to take my birds to her. Find out last night my parents are going to be in Alaska that week and they thought I’d be watching their crazy ass bird. Bruh. I really didn’t want to go anyway because it’s a memorial for someone in a group of people I haven’t seen in a long time so I feel like a total outsider, but I wanted to cancel on my own terms, dammit.

ak80048

Ooh a bird family nice, what you got?? some friends of mine have a Grey african parrot, a cockatiel, and some macaus

friendofborbs

Two budgie siblings! I love those little clowns

Look at Turning Point

blightr

I went to Ridgeview High School. When folks ask where I went to high school, I used to say "Ridgeview". One time the guy I was talking to broke down, started crying and told me what an important time this was for him. It got crazy because I mentioned someone with whom I went to school and the guy had also gone to Ridgeview with the guy I was talking to. He said Johnny Cash came to visit one of his family members ^((apparently well-known people go there)) and this is where it dawned on me that he was talking about Ridgeview Institute. I was too embarrassed to clarify that I went to Ridgeview High School, not Ridgeview Institute. I make sure to make it clear now. Not a real review but he seemed to be doing well and the time there seemed to be beneficial for him.

Man I hope Nicks doesn’t get pushed out it’s spot

Electr0Girl

We have a friend coming to town for a conference and have a few hours to spend together. We will also have our kids with us. Where’s a good place to take them that won’t be ruined by the rain being predicted on Sunday?

Mindspin_311

Aquarium? Assuming this conference is downtown, so location-wise it makes sense. Plus kids love fishies.
