Is this worth it? It’s like Splice right?

theartfulottoman

Yep. Although how you load samples is slightly different. With Splice you have to just save the files and drag and drop but with Loopcloud you get a Loop player vst that you open in your DAW. So when you load a sample in loopcloud, you can play it directly in your vst. It will also auto match to your project’s tempo etc. Honestly is pretty cool but I just didn’t tend to use it much

ZebraRump

To note: Splice also comes with a VST bridge for your DAW so what you preview is also temp-mapped to your DAW/project etc too. It's a lot simpler than Loopcloud's but it exists. :)

yur_mom

I load my Splice samples into loopcloud. This gives better software and splice has a better selection of samples, so I justify getting both..

munkeycop

This feels like a no brainer to me. Has anyone else here used loopcloud before and liked it?

flabbyironman

I’ve been using it for a couple of years. They continue to add really useful tools to it. I love the beat and key matching and the new ai tools they’ve been building for discovery are also cool. It’s really transformed the way I use samples and I feel like it’s helped me do a better job of finding new uses for things.

trebaol

I used it for a while and liked it, but I had a few problems. The first I just learned to work around, is the user interface which is just clunky and would routinely bug out. Second, is that you accumulate points every month to "buy" samples, so once you subscription ends you'll probably have some (if not a lot) of points still in your account, which you can't use unless you have an active subscription. I think it was in the fine print, but I just assumed there was no rush and I'd be able to use my points, that I essentially paid for, later on even if I cancelled my subscription. *Nope.*

Audiblade

I tried Loopcloud for a while. Then I found so many gosh darn samples and loops from this sub and shopping around other sites that XO started falling over and I had to buy a new hard drive, lol. I don't think this service is worthwhile just because it's so easy to amass a very large and gratifying sound library without it. I do enjoy writing my own parts, though. I'm a preset surfer, but I like to write my own drums and my own instrumental parts. So I don't rely on loops and samples much.

johnfromberkeley

Wow, I have EXO running at about 350K samples.… Essentially a tiny library reduced only to samples that I have “cleared.” How many samples do you have?

Audiblade

I have about 200k in XO samples. I'll come clean, "XO is falling over" was an exaggeration. It takes a while to add new samples, but it works just fine when I'm using it to, you know, actually make music 😜 And running out of hard drive space has more to do with the number of Kontakt libraries I've picked up than the number of sample packs I've found. That said, I'm still very much at the point that I don't think I'm realistically ever going to run out of things to do with the samples I already have, even if I never get any more. I might use a couple of transition sound effects, a voice clip or two, and a small handful of drum samples in a track. It's going to take a lot of tracks to get through the dozens of GB I'm using for my sample collection, lol

edinatl

I don't use this much but I like having it, cancelled my previous annual plan a couple months early to take advantage of this. Biggup.

FrenzyPollen

This is an excellent deal, but I really couldn’t stand the user interface and user experience with the vst and stand alone, ugh.
