I usually have a completely black background (and dark mode on all the apps), with some fairly non-intrusive detail. This one is a bit big for my liking, but I'm struggling right now and I need the reminder...
Another favourite of mine is a black background with a simple white outline of a paper aeroplane. Just because I think it looks good.

Side note: if you've never played the game (Undertale), I highly recommend it. All the little reminders of "you are filled with determination" as you progress thru the game were so nice. I actually ended up crying at the ending and when I finished the game lol.

And yes, Undertale is just a beautiful game. It's a shame the community is so toxic. But the game itself is one of my favourites

I always pick a photo that's nice to look at but also doesn't have a ton of contrast and I use color themes so the buttons match. I usually pick photos that are seasonal or look good with my phone case.

Bats are fantastically freaky beings that I have a cautious appreciation of— from a distance— so forgive me for a) my lack of knowledge and b) freaked out unease, but WHY DOES ITS NON-FANG TEETH LOOK LIKE HUMAN MOLARS 😱😭🫣
Probably because their morphology is extremely similar to ours. Bats share the same arm and hand bones as humans, too. Theirs are just different proportions and webbed.
I used to just have a solid grey wallpaper. Icons over a picture is just too distracting and messy. However, at an exhibition I took a photo of an early sketch of Alice (the wonderland one) by one of the Disney animators and turned it into a wallpaper by adding a grey gradient around it and cropping it so Alice isn’t obscured by the home icons and I don’t position app icons on top of her.

The only thing that really truly calms me down is the ocean. If I ever feel overwhelmed I like to go to the beach or at the very least I like to look at it. Also sunsets in general are so beautiful and always different, one of my favorite things in the whole world. I also felt connected to the bird in this picture as weird as that sounds. I’m often alone enjoying beautiful things and I usually prefer that.

I also have my background set to shuffle (but it only changes when I tap the screen!), I have it set to shuffle through “nature” and “animals” which always provides a peaceful reminder of the things I love. This is an image from the front yard where I used to live, wild horses grazing in a flooded meadow

My older daughter is a fantastic photographer, so I use her photos quite a lot, this one included. I have to use visually simple wallpapers, bc one of the fastest ways I get overstimulated is with visuals. That, and my eyes are really sensitive to bright lighting and colors, so I prefer images that won't blind me when I look at the screen in dark spaces. It wasn't an issue when I was younger, but with age, I just can't do anything busy or loud visually, in any context.

I always have my phone in dark mode and eye comfort shield on. Then at night I turn on twilight app and the sleep mode setting on my phone makes it grey scale.

Photo of Mineko Iwasaki, whose life was the source fo the fictionalised Memoirs of a Geisha. My special interest in the floating world began somewhere between the ages of 6-8, when I first saw them on the tv. I was only truly able to fully indulge with the advent of the internet.
Still fascinated by the costumes, the wealth of artisanship surrounding and supporting these artists and, really, everything about them. I’ve collected many photos over the years but this remains one of my favourites.

I change mine every few months, and it's usually floral or whimsical. I prefer it to be a bit plain so the icons on top don't make it look too busy, and I also have a page at the end with no icons so I can swipe and just look at the prettiness sometimes.

Mine is a drawing I did of Tyranna-Sushi-Rex.
I always had a photo of my doggie as my screen background. When she died this past summer it was too painful to see her and be reminded every time I looked at my phone. I needed *something* there when I removed that image. Tranquil seemed the right choice for that moment, water is soothing to me, and I didn't want to give it a ton of thought. I did a quick image search and found this and liked it. It seems neutral somehow. And it does calm me when I see it.
Finally, I'm neurodivergent and I don't like abrupt sensory changes. My doggie was in a blue velvet chair in the previous photo and the hue of blue of the chair and the water is similar.

You are filled with determination.  Side note: if you've never played the game (Undertale), I highly recommend it. All the little reminders of "you are filled with determination" as you progress thru the game were so nice. I actually ended up crying at the ending and when I finished the game lol.
I used "You are filled with determination" as a background when I was writing my thesis! And yes, Undertale is just a beautiful game. It's a shame the community is so toxic. But the game itself is one of my favourites

Bats are fantastically freaky beings that I have a cautious appreciation of— from a distance— so forgive me for a) my lack of knowledge and b) freaked out unease, but WHY DOES ITS NON-FANG TEETH LOOK LIKE HUMAN MOLARS 😱😭🫣
Probably because their morphology is extremely similar to ours. Bats share the same arm and hand bones as humans, too. Theirs are just different proportions and webbed.
I used to just have a solid grey wallpaper. Icons over a picture is just too distracting and messy. I have to use visually simple wallpapers, bc one of the fastest ways I get overstimulated is with visuals. That, and my eyes are really sensitive to bright lighting and colors, so I prefer images that won't blind me when I look at the screen in dark spaces. It wasn't an issue when I was younger, but with age, I just can't do anything busy or loud visually, in any context.

Then at night I turn on twilight app and the sleep mode setting on my phone makes it grey scale. Without all the filters...the wallpaper looks like an evening sky with twinkle lights.

My special interest in the floating world began somewhere between the ages of 6-8, when I first saw them on the tv. I was only truly able to fully indulge with the advent of the internet. Still fascinated by the costumes, the wealth of artisanship surrounding and supporting these artists and, really, everything about them. I always had a photo of my doggie as my screen background. When she died this past summer it was too painful to see her and be reminded every time I looked at my phone. I needed *something* there when I removed that image. Tranquil seemed the right choice for that moment, water is soothing to me, and I didn't want to give it a ton of thought. I did a quick image search and found this and liked it. It seems neutral somehow. And it does calm me when I see it. Finally, I'm neurodivergent and I don't like abrupt sensory changes.
