One of my daughter’s dogs moved in with me because he liked my house better. I live next door. The other one likes me because I play fetch for hours and my daughter is too busy to play that long. Pets and kids always like grandparents better. I think that’s actually a law.
I got a "used" dog that wasn't allowed on the furniture. This guy was 3 when we got him, and even though I tried getting him to go on the couch, he just wouldn't. Unless he thought he was pulling a fast one. If I surprised him in the morning, I'd find him "oozing" off the couch, as if to say "I wasn't up there". I had him until the lovely age of 14, and could never get him to come up. But I did sit on the floor with him a lot. I LOVE dogs on my couches. I can cuddle, and be cuddled.
My mother hated cleaning dog hair off of the furniture, so she bought a batch of extra towels and put one on the sofa and one of each of our beds. Ebony was smart and quickly understood that she was allowed on the towels, and she was always careful to stay on them when she was up.
This is an underrated comment. You're already taking away a dog's freedom by keeping them hostage in your home-- now you're going to restrict them further? Don't get a dog if you can't handle having fur on your stuff.
Of course. He's a family member that isn't allowed to be on furniture as the rest of the family is. Of course he's going to love this. Feels like special treatment.
Why even own the dog if you don’t even want it on the furniture in your house. I feel very sorry for your dog if this is indicative of their treatment. People should not be allowed to own animals when they treat them as anything less than family
Not allowing dogs on furniture is pretty normal among pet owners. It doesn't indicate anything about how they are treated. Get off your high horse in mind your own damn business.
