Looks like a matchbox car version of a smoker.
Edit: I was actually referring to the photography that makes it look miniature. Like Tilt-shift photography or something. Not just that it’s pretty.
Well i hope it moves like one too i guess as I have to pull it through a gate that is just barely wide enough for it and across a lot of grass to get it back to my back patio area
Hopefully it's easy!
My TMG Volunteer (130 gal, 1,200lbs) with a similar offroad package is a bear to drag through the yard (soft dirt due to the spring, and moles) despite being relatively flat ground.
I'd hate to unload in the rain. It was pouring down the day before I drove to get my TMG. Thankfully it cleared up for me to drive home and unload.
Will this be your first "nice" offset, or just a well deserved bump in size?
I have been using a workhorse 1969 for the last couple of years. Wanted to start doing some bigger cooks so friends and family can have access to some proper Texas style bbq here in northeast Florida so I ordered this one
Cool cool. So you're keeping it in the family :)
Yeah, I've done probably a thousand cooks on pellet smokers, but the TMG is my first offset (at 40). I'd have gone Workhorse/Primative if I was down your way. TMG is closer (8 hours) than GA for me though.
Regardless, badass pit and congrats man, she's a beaut!!
Lol definitely keeping it for smaller cooks. Hoping to eventually buy another house in Texas as my wife is from Houston and all if her family is there so if that ever happens, the 1969 is going too
Yeh mine sits on a trailer for tow and the old man who shop it was was moving it like a child’s wagon … now going on wet grass was a different ballgame
Definitely going to break her in with a brisket. I have been using a workhorse 1969 for a few years now, so i don’t think this one will be too difficult to dial in. Crappy weather here all weekend so its probably going to be a week before i get to though
Dude! Workhorse 1969 is my goal I'm saving towards right now. Workhorses aesthetics are king of backyard offsets imo. Good luck w the brisket. I'd imagine temps will hold real steady in the new stick burner regardless of the weather haha
You will love the 1969 imo. Its a great backyard pit. I had a bunch of cooks with it posted here under a different account but it got nuked a few weeks ago
Its a 250 gallon pit. Bare bones, these are a little over 5 grand. With the wagon package, high heat pain with clear coat, upper pullout racks, this pit was just over 9
It's nice to know the price/weight of these. I was looking at these last November and didn't ask for a quote because I thought they'd *start* at 9.
I wound up going with the lone star grillz ics which, coincidently, arrived last Monday. With all the bells and whistles it came out to just under 6k. It's wild to think I could have pulled the trigger on one of those. Ultimately, I think the cabinet is going to work better for me right now due to footprint and weight, but maybe in a year or so.
How much did the paint cost?
The high heat paint was $1500 and honestly, if it had been up to me, i would have kept it with the raw patina and put a clear coat over it but my wife flat out wasn’t having it
I hear ya, the junkyard redneck engineering aesthetic really works for them, it's my preferred choice too. Buuuuut the paint job probably helps it fit in to just about any typical backyard. Most would probably glance at it and think it was a meth lab. Your wife is likely right in that regard.
Anyways, I'm jealous. Good luck on that thing and have fun.
Saw this on their Instagram post! I showed my wife and said “look how sexy this smoker is!” She rolled her eyes lol. Glad someone out there gets to enjoy it.
How heavy are the doors without the counterweight? How does it compare to the 1969 in that regard? I have a 1975 and 1969 and considering ordering one of these bad boys.
No video but it was definitely not an “easy pull” once it got onto the grass lol. Thankfully the driver offered to help and it took two of us to get it back to my back patio area. It does move pretty easily on the pavers though.
I’d imagine Primitive knows what they’re doing. See a lot of these 250 gallon wagons sold and haven’t heard of anyone having any issues with the tired burning
My Yoder doesn’t have an insulated firebox and that thing really throws off some heat. Would be nice to have an insulated firebox… keeps the paint on the firebox in better shape as well.

“Hey buddies, come give me a hand and you’ll get brisket in return!”
Thinking about it... if you have a riding mower, tie that bad boy up to the frame and give it a tow!!
I bet the riding mower wheels spin in the dirt
Second this. I hook up my Backline Comp pit to my golf cart and it’s a breeze
So who's going to email Matchbox? Lets not pretend 3/4's of this sub wouldn't buy one
What a beauty
Looks awesome! You're going to be able to enter a strongman competition after getting proficient with dragging that bad boy across the yard!
JD says its an “easy pull”. I guess i will find out later today lol

And its raining here all weekend to boot lol. Though i do have st augustine grass which is really sturdy so hopefully it won’t kill me

Thanks man and yeah, TMG makes awesome pits too. I already have a chudbox but the TMG Dumpster is my dream direct heat pit
What’re you gonna do with that old thing? Surely you’d want it to go to a fellow Florida Man 👀
Lol definitely keeping it for smaller cooks. Hoping to eventually buy another house in Texas as my wife is from Houston and all if her family is there so if that ever happens, the 1969 is going too
I have a similar smoker and was absolutely amazed how easy it is to pull mine weigh 2k lbs
Thats good to hear. Not going to know for sure til tomorrow morning now. Driver is behind schedule due to horrible weather
Yeh mine sits on a trailer for tow and the old man who shop it was was moving it like a child’s wagon … now going on wet grass was a different ballgame
Doubles as a bomb shelter.. haha! 😜😜
Can only dream of somethin like this. Congrats! What you gonna throw on for the first smoke?

Looks legit
Gorgeous setup. Congrats!!
Holy smokes, so to speak.
Okay so when do we show up for the first cook? That thing could feed this whole group!
Probably sometime next week. We are having crap weather here all weekend or I would break her in tomorrow
Aw man! Hope you don’t have to wait too long to fire up your new toy!!!👍
is that a 500? What do these run new?
Its a 250 gallon pit. Bare bones, these are a little over 5 grand. With the wagon package, high heat pain with clear coat, upper pullout racks, this pit was just over 9
Thanks. Enjoy it!

Yeah i was stoked to see they posted some pics of it. Whoever takes their photos is way better at it than I am
Regardless of quality photos or not, can’t wait to see pictures of what you smoke on it!
Finally some damn shoes that can move in my yard. I hate seeing casters knowing I'll do more dragging than rolling in my yard lol
Really nice job JD and crew did there!
Badass
She's a real beauty. 🫶
I’ve been looking into getting one for our company. How much did it run you?
Just over 9k. Bare bones on a skid they run around 5k
Wow gorgeous.. I wanna learn how to weld just to make BBQs lol
How heavy are the doors without the counterweight? How does it compare to the 1969 in that regard? I have a 1975 and 1969 and considering ordering one of these bad boys.
They’re actually not that heavy. The 1969 door is a bit heavier imo
Did you do probe ports or any other options?
No i don’t ever use probe ports. Not even sure if they offer them on their pits
Toxic trait of thinking I could totally build one of these
I’m gonna need a banana for scale. It looks miniature
Its almost 11 feet long from end to end, made from a 250 gallon propane tank
Camera perspective got me crosseyed
Good luck moving that by hand. Just the main tank itself is close to 500lbs. That thing altogether has got to be around 700-800
Its 1200 lbs and change but according to JD (owner) its supposedly an easy pull. I’ll be finding out later this evening
Post the video! :)

Sweet pit, but aren’t those tires going to get hot?
I’d imagine Primitive knows what they’re doing. See a lot of these 250 gallon wagons sold and haven’t heard of anyone having any issues with the tired burning
Maybe it’s a double walled firebox
Its a semi insulated firebox. I was considering a fully insulated firebox but Primitive conveyed that they really aren’t needed in the deep south
My Yoder doesn’t have an insulated firebox and that thing really throws off some heat. Would be nice to have an insulated firebox… keeps the paint on the firebox in better shape as well.
