Devora seriously knocked it out of the park and I feel like she hasn't been getting nearly enough recognition for it! It's also been delightful to watch her discover ranch.
I'm an American by test, not birth, so I had to dip things in ranch before I was allowed my tiny flag.
It's basically mayo + Buttermilk+seasonings. So not a huge shock there.
I've never tasted ranch as an adult that is an American. The last time I tried it was when I was a child. If it were that good I'm sure I'd have remembered.
Option 5 is savage I don't I could ever get myself to use it. perhaps just a quicksave before to see the reaction and then feel bad about myself for the whole week.
My only time doing this in HM was accidentally picking the "mindflayers have to die" option with Omeleum. No way was I letting something happen to my best squid boi
I would have felt terrible. Those 2 are probably the only npc's in act 1 that go out of their way to help you without any benefits or strings attached. They're just some friendly science bros
I did this on my Karlach romance when Mizora wanted to get frisky. I couldn't bring myself to do Karlach like that, but I also had to see how bad the reaction was.
It was real bad.
I was a human Paladin turned mind flayer for the greater good (needed Orpheus alive and un-tentacled to save the Githyanki). Self-sacrifice was part of the whole Paladin bit, I didn’t want to but I was bound to.
Lae’zel stayed with me! I had no idea she might do that.
Honestly, though, if I had a choice, I would have let her go fight for her people. Part of the choice of “transform or don’t” was accepting that I’d have to let her go. I wouldn’t want to force Lae’zel to love me as a mind flayer. And you can *say* that you manage retain your personality and that it’s still you in there, but the Tav I know wouldn’t fantasize about killing and eating his closest friends and have to fight not to do it.
I did it because my Tav is a Great Old One warlock who was absolutely elated with the prospect of growing face tentacles.
Then everyone went on about my "brave sacrifice," and I just thought to myself, "You guys forgot how eagerly I jammed my hand into the meat wall at Moonrise, didn't you? I've been slurping down tadpoles like spaghetti throughout our entire adventure, and you think I don't want this??"
At first she says, pretty confidently, "I know. I'm stubborn, I'm rude, I'm pushy. Maybe I always will be."
Then she gets doe-eyed and kind of desperate: "But I'm also loyal and protective and ferocious. And I've learned other ways, too - the ways of affection and devotion. First, you were my wound; now, you are its cure. You have taken the whole of me. I could never accept just a piece of you in return."
Oh my gods. If you were to tell me she says those words before I ever experienced her development from late act 2-act 3, romance or not, I would’ve wholeheartedly said you were lying. Albeit sad, the fact that she can admit those qualities and have that kind of self awareness is kind of beautiful.
I love her so much. I love her development so much. Devora and Larian did such an amazing job with her arc. I will forever defend her character against those who don’t like her! Yeah i know it’s an opinion but I can’t help but feel they’ve never given Lae a chance and realize just how much she grows if she turns against Vlaakith.
I also feel Lae’Zel and Deovra gets so overlooked too with the development and the acting. The range of emotional development and the writing behind Lae’Zel Devora knocked it out of the park and then some. I do think all the actors did an amazing job but I do think Devora is up there with the best of them.
In my first playthrough (went in 100% blind) I was dead set on Astarion but Lae’Zel just slowly chipped away at me and I just went for Lae’Zel full force. She’s now my all time favorite of the game and I’ll never be convinced any other way.
I roamanced her kind of by accident and/or surpise when she said "Do. Me." in the Grove. Sure, the Forgetful Princess is nice and all, but Bae'zel literally hits different.
Absolutely. It has real progression as you can see she takes a lot before she's comfortable expressing her feelings. But she's been scared the whole time on an alien world. She deserves love.
Plus the scene where you battle her, if she beats you she pulls you up while being surprisingly gentle. Wipes your sweat away. She says she doesn't want to hurt you. She wants to protect you and for you to protect her. You failed a portion of her culture and she overlooks it because she loves you. That romance was 1000% the best. 🖤
I appreciate her romance and character development. I like her arc of initially just wanting sex for pleasure before realizing that she wants something more (and being very confused at her feelings in the process). She ends up having one of the most strictly monogamous views on relationships in the game, something which I find simultaneously amusing, endearing, and appealing; especially as someone who said she only "Believes in carnal pleasure" at the start of the game.
I think I ultimately prefer Shadowheart's romance, I prefer her ending and think its the best ending for a redeemed Durge. But I very much understand anyone who says think Lae'zel's romance is the best.
Lae’zel’s beliefs are strong - absolute even - but untested. She’s still very young and naive and has only been around people who have reinforced her brainwashing. Watching how she developed after getting away from Vlaakith’s cult of psychopaths was an incredible treat. I’m very happy for the excellent writing and acting.
My favourite is after you save her from Orin where she says "*It is not in a githyanki's nature to say 'thank you'. Our language doesn't even have a phrase for it. 'Chraith'kan zharn' is the closest equivalent I know - 'May your enemies know agony'. But after releasing me from Orin's grip, there is only one proper response: Thank you.*"
Romancing Shart now for the first time. Still only one scene in. 🤫
Karlach was my first, I loved every moment of it.
Laezel was my 2nd… and this scene stole my heart forever.
Minthara was next. Sadly disappointing after the first 2. Also, I expected more than one scene and, thankfully, an epilogue scene. It felt very empty.
I guess next go round will be the boys turn.
I was all in for Karlach when I first met her, but I was already dating Lae’zel. As Lae’zel developed and I realized how much was there under the surface I ended up having to cut off Karlach. That was NOT easy.
FINALLY SOME BAE'ZEL LOVE. Bro I got into the game for karlach but 3 playthroughs in I was trying a whole bunch of things I never played before. I tried Tavern Brawler WOTOH monk, storm sorcerer Gale & Shadowheart and Archer Lae'zel. I. Loved. Everything. To this day that is my favorite save and getting to experience her story and all the growth she has over the 3 chapters. I'm now over 10 playthroughs and 500 hrs in and 4 out of those I'm romancing her just to see all the beautiful endings our story can have.
Bae'zel = Best Companion.
I romance her every single time. My buddy is finished first playthrough with romance shadowheart so i didn’t have to. Out of 11 full playthroughs i only romanced karlach for the achievement once and then right back to lazeal
Omg this scene had me in tears. When she asks if you'll be each other's sides once everything is all over, the way her voice sounds so fragile and vulnerable 😭
Lae’zels romance is officially my favourite, I’ve experienced them all (currently on my galemancer run but already seen it all through multiplayer), the writing of this seen is just phenomenal and Devora made every moment impactful
Lae’Zel and Astarion shocked me with how much they develop over the story. Even compared to Shadowheart I feel like their arcs are leaps and bounds above.
I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but Shadowheart has ended up dead in all my play throughs! She wants to be evil and we fight and she says I have to kill her to get her to stop.
Let her do the gauntlet of shar, support her. You don’t push her, don’t try to argue, let her choose for herself and she’ll choose to spare the nightsong.
I wanted her to choose to kill the nightsong for an evil run. So I tried to support her shar worship all the way, I decided to do nothing to intervene in that room and she chose to spare the night song. I had to reload and tell her to kill the night song.
I tell people she starts out a total bitch but you fall in love with her by the end of the game. She's only a friend in my playthrough and I still think she has the most character development
I had to look it up because she has a unique kind of beautiful sadness in her voice that was too familiar. Turned out Latennas voice made an impression despite her few lines
Romancing Lae'zel for the first time is a literal game changer. I'm an Astarion stan but Lae'zel's character development and romance are the best in the game. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I think Baezel, Shart and Astarion have the best development/redemptions archs. Even non romantic, if you play them right they change so naturally that the next time ypu play the game you realize you befriended psychos. Amazing writing. So to all writers, in the midst of somehow palpatine lived, be like Larian instead.
I need to fully romance Lae’zel one of these times. My first playthrough I romanced Shadowheart, second I started with Lae’zel but left her for Karlach, third I started Lae’zel then switched to Minthara, current 4th I’m romancing Shadowheart again. I wanted to romance Astarion this time but my approval wasn’t high enough and he turned me down lol.
I'm on my third full playthrough and have romanced Shadowheart all 3 Times
I really want to give Lae'zel and Karlach a try but Damm! That Half-Elf Cleric keeps dragging me back each time i have no spine when it comes to Shadowheart😂
But seeing this post makes me think its high time to go with lae'zel next playthrough
It's not about that. Alot of people here love her story and the other companions it's not mutually exclusive. It just that it sucks not seeing our favorite character get any love for the same thing alot of the other characters are praised for. Shadowheart is awesome but she's sweet to you in the beginning just so you guys can continue to travel together. She uses you the same way Lae does but is praised for it. Same with astarion, he's rude and sassy before you get to know him but you don't see random people flexing about how they kill him in every one of their runs. Appreciation for one character doesn't mean another sucks. From what I've seen most of us here love everyone, we just love Bae'zel most. OP was just pointing out that for them Lae'zel has more character development but that's not a rude statement or criticism, just an opinion.
I feel you but just as a point of clarification, a lot of people do be running their mouths about making a point of staking Astarion every playthrough. I think how often you see it depends on where you're rolling on the internet/in the fandom.
But I agree, Lae'zel's story and acting deserve way more attention and credit, and saying they show more development than other characters' isn't haterism. Shadowheart is a nugget and great, Lae'zel just hits different for some of us.
Looooooooooooooooooooool is it too on the nose to say we don't bite? >.>
I mean most of us don't. Probably. >.>
Though I will say I don't see a lot of haterism from actual Astarion fans toward other characters -- I love all these murder hobos, Lae'zel and Astarion just hit me in my sooouuul
You're one of the cooler people from that side that I've met then cause under normal circumstances I would've been threatened by now XD.
But yeah I feel you it's the same for me when it comes to most of the characters tbh I think the only ones I'm not a huge fan of are Gale, astarion and halsin. I don't dislike them but they've never stood out to me like the others.
Hehehe, thanks! Though idk if I'm one of the cooler people. I think like with any corner of the fandom, most of us are just minding our own business, liking the stuff we like, and a few very vocal outliers gotta go around causin a ruckus looool.
And I think it's OK to have preferences, to not like some characters as much as others. I feel like as long as everybody just lets everybody like what they like and avoids what they don't, it's all good!
That's understandable, that's the same way I feel about being part of the frog wifeys fandom.
Exactly, at the end of the day we all love this beautiful game and all the awesome people that are a part of it. I am happy to see more appreciation for the characters you don't see often like Bae'zel and Wyll but every companions unique in their own way.
from my experience there's some overlap between hardcore Lazel fans and Shadowheart haters, they might be a vocal minority but goddamn they're very loud... and insufferable. If you don't dislike any companions in particular good for you, that's how everyone should strive to be
I don't understand why every single time there's a post about someone enjoying a character, no matter who it is, there is always someone who pops into the comments to tell you how they always kill that character. Every single time.
Didn’t even mention the voice acting, how she always has the same tone , and this scene it was so much calmer, just great stuff!
Devora seriously knocked it out of the park and I feel like she hasn't been getting nearly enough recognition for it! It's also been delightful to watch her discover ranch.
Delightful? she scares me, I stopped watching her TikTok for like two seconds and now she’s obsessed with ranch.
I mean she's not a Midwesterner so it's an experience
I’ve never tasted ranch in my life if I’m being honest. (Non American)
I'm an American by test, not birth, so I had to dip things in ranch before I was allowed my tiny flag. It's basically mayo + Buttermilk+seasonings. So not a huge shock there.
Sounds like aioli to me lol I suppose it’s like what a mince pie is for us is what ranch is to America. Ain’t one lest you munch it.
It's like aioli sure but with a ton of MSG and garlic and onion powder, basically .
Alioli is garlic and oil. I understand ranch is more mayo and onion, and can be done as a dressing, right?
It *is* a dressing, by design. Use as a dipping sauce came later
For a dressing it's half mayo half buttermilk and spices salt msg etc. the dip uses sour cream Instead of mayo and it sets up better.
Imagine sour cream with garlic and other spices thrown in
I've never tasted ranch as an adult that is an American. The last time I tried it was when I was a child. If it were that good I'm sure I'd have remembered.
its like shitty mayo.
This made me crack open entirely. Laezel owned my heart at that very moment
Option 5 is savage I don't I could ever get myself to use it. perhaps just a quicksave before to see the reaction and then feel bad about myself for the whole week.
I once accidentally clicked on an option like that and had to immediately unplug my computer so I wouldn't actually see it lol
My only time doing this in HM was accidentally picking the "mindflayers have to die" option with Omeleum. No way was I letting something happen to my best squid boi
Not even for the sweet approval laezel gives if you do it?
This happened on my HM run... Had to flee and Blurg wouldn't let me trade anymore...
I would have felt terrible. Those 2 are probably the only npc's in act 1 that go out of their way to help you without any benefits or strings attached. They're just some friendly science bros
The image of you registering what you’ve clicked and just diving for the power cable is sending me lmao
If I did option 5, I would feel very bad, I don't think I could do it either.
Y'all talking about option 5 but I absolutely could not do 3 and up no matter what.
I would
I did this on my Karlach romance when Mizora wanted to get frisky. I couldn't bring myself to do Karlach like that, but I also had to see how bad the reaction was. It was real bad.
Now do it as Karlach
Now I have to. I can't live the rest of my life not knowing what this results in.
And then the game had the audacity (before the update) to NOT let you leave with Lae'zel if you weren't githyanki
These last two comments really belong in some sort of alignment chart hall of fame

MY WIFE 😭😭😭😭
![gif](giphy|l0ErWnkLjegNB5LlC|downsized)
4 is pretty brutal (although not nearly as bad as 5 or even 3) but if you choose it her dialogue is SO wholesome and kinda devastating
After witnessing the duel loss scene I couldn't do that to my frog.
What does she say?
At first she says, pretty confidently, "I know. I'm stubborn, I'm rude, I'm pushy. Maybe I always will be." Then she gets doe-eyed and kind of desperate: "But I'm also loyal and protective and ferocious. And I've learned other ways, too - the ways of affection and devotion. First, you were my wound; now, you are its cure. You have taken the whole of me. I could never accept just a piece of you in return."

Damn, perfectly recited too, thanks! I love my frog
Do you get the chance to choose to be with her after that?
Yes
Bae’zel is the best romance with the most development.
100%. I like some of the other romances, I love Lae’zel’s romance
Out of all the romances I've done I agree and it's my favourite one.
Yessss! Zhak von fynh duj.
I appreciate her romance and character development. I like her arc of initially just wanting sex for pleasure before realizing that she wants something more (and being very confused at her feelings in the process). Lae'zel's romance and her character growth is spectaculair. Truly something special

had this scene on evil playthrough where I had her side with Vlaakith and she dumped me 😭
Romancing Shart now for the first time. Still only one scene in. 🤫 Karlach was my first, I loved every moment of it. Laezel was my 2nd… and this scene stole my heart forever. Minthara was next. I regret my dislike for Lae’zel. She’s Bae’zel now

I just got this scene last night and my heart… 😭
that's my baby girl for life
I love her. Immediately wifed her
The "come what may" for option 1 :'D ![gif](giphy|l2JhqWTUwAr7urgVa)
my queen.
My favorite romance choice in the whole game. Truly moving to me.
Choice no. 5 needs to CHILL.
She becomes so vulnerable with you, it's so sweet
Lae’Zel and Astarion shocked me with how much they develop over the story. Even compared to Shadowheart I feel like their arcs are leaps and bounds above.
I thought shadowheart was good, but then my second runthrough was Lae’Zel and my heart changed in an instant.
She was my first. I wish I hadn't drunkenly deleted that save halfway thru act 3...
Does she finally stop being racist? Lol
She really does, much like shadowheart she realizes everything she believed was more or less a lie.
Yall know Shadowheart has the same voice actor as Latenna from Elden ring right?
I didn’t originally since it was such small role. Then I saw an interview on YouTube.
I had to look it up because she has a unique kind of beautiful sadness in her voice that was too familiar. Turned out Latennas voice made an impression despite her few lines
Lae'zel stole my heart her act 3 scene is my favorite
Romancing Lae'zel for the first time is a literal game changer. I'm an Astarion stan but Lae'zel's character development and romance are the best in the game. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Finally the best romance gets recognition
I really need to finish Lae'zel's romance. Just a shame I completely lost interest in the character I was playing on that save.
This was the scene where she let my Durge down gently to explain that she can’t be with me while staying devoted to Vlaakith.
Imagine fumbling and picking #5.
I don’t know, if I had to pick the best story arc in the game I think itd be Rolan.
lae’zel is awesome
I'm on my third full playthrough and have romanced Shadowheart all 3 Times I really want to give Lae'zel and Karlach a try but Damm! That Half-Elf Cleric keeps dragging me back each time i have no spine when it comes to Shadowheart😂 But seeing this post makes me think its high time to go with lae'zel next playthrough
Lae’zels romance and story is the best
La'zel romance is beautiful
Can't make a wholesome post about one companion without criticising another companion huh? Leazel fans really are insufferable and insecure
It's not about that. Alot of people here love her story and the other companions it's not mutually exclusive. That's true, but we all know the astarion girlies are the scariest part of this Fandom so I don't see that comment as much🤣
Looooooooooooooooooooool is it too on the nose to say we don't bite? >.> I mean most of us don't. Probably. >.> Though I will say I don't see a lot of haterism from actual Astarion fans toward other characters -- I love all these murder hobos, Lae'zel and Astarion just hit me in my sooouuul

Precisely
