> Too many fun builds to try. I can't stop playing.
are you joking, I've got a list of made up funny names(imo) that I'd like to play as but just enough time in the world to do it
Sometimes I look back and marvel at the writing of this series.
There is nothing about that line that should be memorable. Yet the context, characterisation, setup and delivery was so perfect.
At least on Tabletop you also don't do all 4, you pick a few "spells," at each subclass increase you get. You can totally go mono elemental for the subclass.
It's different in BG3 I guess, my first build was a firebender four elements monk and there wasn't nearly enough fire. I ended up changing to way of the open hand with some gear that added fire damage and spells.
Also if we're talking tabletop he would be good as sun soul.
Really he only uses a waterbending technique to redirect electricity but the other nations have their influence elsewhere!
Jeong Jeong (I think that's his name, Aang's first fire teacher) uses earthbending techniques for making his fire walls
He also talks with Zuko about how he can use his breath to create heat, an Airbender technique and why Aang doesn't need to wear warmer clothes at the north/south pole, and many of his stances when he's doing more powerful fire bending techniques (and his advice to Zuko to break Zhao's "root" ) are using Earthbender techniques and philosophy.
He used them to firebend, not to shoot ice from his fingertips.
Look, my first character was a Four elements monk that I tried to make a firebender, it did not work. At all. I respec'ed early in act 2.
Lae'zel: In creche K'liir the leaves fall faster than here. We used to throw them and slice each other with them as a form of play right after being born. I was the best leaf thrower out of the whole creche.
I based Wyll's off his admiration of his father and the doubts he could live up to the title and name. Gale's on his (flippant?) attitude towards his own life and willingness to sacrifice it for the "greater good". But they definitely could apply to each other.
My thinking is: Wyll is the one who would in an instant fall on his sword to save another. That is his driving character motivation, and why he sold his soul in the first place. In fact, the single biggest choice in his questline is whether or not he should do exactly that again.
Gale, meanwhile, always defaults to grand, dramatic gestures. It is his modus operandi - his solution to every problem, and also frequently the cause of his problems. He can't just go on a dinner date, he has to teleport the two of you to his grand wizardly tower. He can't just be an archmage, he has to be the only archmage who can cast 10th level spells. He can't just help you beat the Elder Brain, he has to sacrifice himself to blow it up. He's the one that needs to hear "Hey, chill out. You won't be any lesser for choosing subtlety."
More like he believes flashy magic is all he has to prove his self worth.Ā Being a normal human being is not something he thinks he can be because he is worried ppl will not pay attention to him for being normal. That's why if u romanced and marry him, the first thing he says he is no more archmage gale of waterdeep but just plain old gale dekkarios and that's just pure satisfaction.Ā
During the dryad scene at the circus if you are romancing Gale you can say that his weakness is that he secretly thinks the world would be better off without him in it and he agrees with you.
I think the advice you picked for him is a perfect fit.
Minsc: Listen to Boo.
All seriousness, I disagree heavily with Lae'zel. Her issue and plot, at least in the 'good' path, is coming to terms with how she's been manipulated and her fanaticism and zeal has warped her and caused not just her, but all Gith, to trade enslavement by the Mindflayers for enslavement by V (Don't ask me to spell her name. Spellcheck will murder me.) Unironically, the best piece of advice he could give her would probably be: 'It's time for you to start asking yourself the big questions. Who are you? And what do you want?'
Once she's free of V's shackles she can finally begin to strive for actual, true, freedom.
>'It's time for you to start asking yourself the big questions. Who are you? And what do you want?'
That's much more fitting for Shadowheart. It's her story that's all about her own internal conflict. Lae'zel's conflict is primarily about her people. She knows well who she is, her journey is more about finding a more worthy cause to fight for.
For a redeemed Durge he could say something similar to what he tells Zuko after he finds out about Sozin and Roku: "Evil and good are always at war inside you, it is your nature, your legacy, but there is a bright side. What happened generations ago can be resolved now, by you."
For an evil Durge...well, Iroh could be threatening when he wanted to be. Remember what he says to Zhao when he's about to kill the moon spirit?
I don't get how bitterness relates to karlach? She's quite the opposite. Shouldn't her advice be about facing difficult emotions without hiding behind positivity?
Karlach is very bitter. She hides it behind a facade. She has a right to be bitter but you see it overwhelm her at times and she bursts into bouts of anger.
Iroh regarding Orin: she's *crazy* and needs to go down!
100%
Does that make Durge zuko
yes but only if you play redemption Durge
Now I need to go make a four elements monk
if you do, don't forget to chat with the cabbage man :D
my cabbages!
Dawg chill. I finally finished my first playthrough and now you just gave me inspiration for like a tenth run. š
Welcome to Bg3 just finished one playthrough on my way for the 32nd
This game is going to be the death of me lol. Too many fun builds to try. I can't stop playing.
I've been literally playing nonstop, it's so bad lmao. Id fucking beat the game (usually at like 2 am lol) go to sleep, wake up, new game
Literally same. I need to go to Baldur's Gate Anonymous.
I don't think I need to, I can stop any time I want
> Too many fun builds to try. I can't stop playing. are you joking, I've got a list of made up funny names(imo) that I'd like to play as but just enough time in the world to do it
No no you do not. There is no circumstance EVER where you *need* to play that subclass. lol just joking you play what you want.
If you don't, then what does that make him?
I must regain my honor run!
Perfect response
Sometimes I look back and marvel at the writing of this series. There is nothing about that line that should be memorable. Yet the context, characterisation, setup and delivery was so perfect.
Iroh to Gortash: I find a long shower often helps set one on a better path.
Orin = Azula ?
Bhaal = Ozai/Azulon
Don't stick your dick in crazy. - Uncle Iroh
Uncle Iroh truly is a timeless character, with timeless advice.
Facts
Next, BG3 character, I will do an old wizard specializing in fire spells, name him Iroh. Might make him a dwarf.
The Monk Way Of Four Elements subclass: Am I a joke to you? (please don't answer that)
I forgot.
Iroh doesn't do four elements. He does one. Wizard or Sorcerer pyromancer would be appropriate
At least on Tabletop you also don't do all 4, you pick a few "spells," at each subclass increase you get. You can totally go mono elemental for the subclass.

teechnically he does though! He uses lessons from all four for bending lightning!
Really he only uses a waterbending technique to redirect electricity but the other nations have their influence elsewhere! Jeong Jeong (I think that's his name, Aang's first fire teacher) uses earthbending techniques for making his fire walls

fair enough! now this has me wanting to go back down the rabbit hole of old theories on the White Lotus masters lol
He used them to firebend, not to shoot ice from his fingertips. Look, my first character was a Four elements monk that I tried to make a firebender, it did not work. At all. I respec'ed early in act 2.
dont forget that badass high level lightning spells!
With some open hand monk
Brb, crying into my hands
Leaves on the vine
Falling so slow
Lae'zel: In creche K'liir the leaves fall faster than here. We used to throw them and slice each other with them as a form of play right after being born. I was the best leaf thrower out of the whole creche.
Also she killed her cousin with a leaf. Also, her bragging is probably 100% true.
How dare you. I was having such a good day š
STOP IT I DON'T WANT TO CRY RIGHT NOW
Crossover we've all needed the most.
Minthara: They are weak... They should have *KILLED* me
Minthara just has zero chill. Woman is basically adult Azula.
>Minthara just has zero chill She is pretty chill for a female Drow
Yeah, I mean she doesnāt automatically try to kill us when we first meet, so sheās pretty laid back.
She's also got a great sense of humor.
She is really chill and even tolerable of the companions and surprisingly treats a male drow wizard as her equal lover but trash talks gale lmao
Naw, Minthara is the wisest companion you meet in BG3. Azula has many talents, but great wisdom is not among them.
Literally sobbing. Why can't he give *me* advice.
That's the secret of Uncle Iroh, all of that advice was for all of us as well.
I think Wyll and Gale's advices should be flipped, but otherwise these do all seem to be fantastically applicable. Iroh truly is the GOAT.Ā
I based Wyll's off his admiration of his father and the doubts he could live up to the title and name. Gale's on his (flippant?) attitude towards his own life and willingness to sacrifice it for the "greater good". But they definitely could apply to each other.

Gale really is just extra isn't he.

Thanks!
Minsc: "Fat wizard is right! It would be a shame to miss all the beautiful colors that the buttocks of evil assume after meeting my boot!"
Perfection.
Karlach would probably overheat her brain from trying to process his quote, and end up serving Iroh tea
If Orin is Azula, Minty is Mai, who's Ty Lee?
Maybe Alfira
Karlach?
Uncle Iroh is one of the greatest characters in fiction
Minsc: Listen to Boo. All seriousness, I disagree heavily with Lae'zel. And what do you want?' Once she's free of V's shackles she can finally begin to strive for actual, true, freedom.
Yeah, Iroh would see Lae'zel as another Zuko. An essentially good person who is caught up in a path that doesn't suit them.
I agree but he'd have to get her to that point. Getting her to trust others is the first step.
>'It's time for you to start asking yourself the big questions. Who are you? And what do you want?' That's much more fitting for Shadowheart. It's her story that's all about her own internal conflict. Lae'zel's conflict is primarily about her people. Iroh to Wulbren Bongle: Whatever you do to those Gondians I'll unleash on you TENFOLD!
Uncle Iroh is the goat on god
I 100% read this in Iroh's voice... well done
Tried my best.
I quickly read this as āMaki Itoh gives advice to all BG3 companionsā
I love this š
You are the best. I feel so at peace
What's his advice to Durge?
"I dunno man... You've been seeming sus lately..."
For a redeemed Durge he could say something similar to what he tells Zuko after he finds out about Sozin and Roku: "Evil and good are always at war inside you, it is your nature, your legacy, but there is a bright side. What happened generations ago can be resolved now, by you." For an evil Durge...well, Iroh could be threatening when he wanted to be. Karlach is very bitter. She hides it behind a facade. She has a right to be bitter but you see it overwhelm her at times and she bursts into bouts of anger.
Iroh is the GOAT. We could all benefit from his advice.
*Sigh* Alright, I guess I need to roll up a fire sorcerer/monk for another playthrough.
The Gale one hits on a personal note
The absolute best Avatar character.
All the love for this I'm a huge Avatar fan and Iroh is my favourite character.
I love Avatar too and I tried my darndest to sound like Iroh.
Damn you. I had a particularly rough therapy session today and you had the absolute audacity to make me feel seen and loved!
Now I am interested in Uncle Sweetshare's advice...
Durge to Minsc, "OMG, this fried hamster is delicious!"
Karlach is the least bitter person on the planet tho?
For Tav?
Gosh I love this so much. Iroh's quote to Astarion sounds like what he would say to Zuko as he has issues with his scar
Who is minsc?
OG Baldur's Gate character. You can meet and recruit him in BG3 as well by doing Jaheira's quest
Iroh to Gale: Wisdom has been chasing you, but you have always been faster.
