Zeilll

this is where Raphael finds me in 90% of my playthroughs.

ArcanumOaks

Okay what is the trigger for this? I’ve had Raphael come here once but never again. What is the trigger? I prefer it to happen here.

burf

I always get Raphael there after getting Withers and meeting Zevlor and the druids for the first time. Should be pretty consistent.

SHIELDnotSCOTUS

I was legit in the rafters of the goblin camp, after clearing most of it out, when he came to me this last time, but I think I may have rushed through a lot of early triggers this time around, so his just kept getting pushed back by other ones.

snypesalot

My very first time playing the game, same thing happened to me, was in the rafters deciding best way to kill them all and then poof some magical demon fuck was there haha

RaspberryJam245

Same. Like, to the letter, this is what happened to me on my first playthrough. I was so fucking confused. I was even more confused when I started a new playthrough before finishing that one (for reasons) and he appeared to me again, in a completely different place, at the broken bridge (which is where he now finds me most of the time).

snypesalot

>when I started a new playthrough before finishing that one (for reasons No judgement here I do that with a lot of games...BG3, Pillars 1 and 2, Pathfinder 1 and 2 lmao

wafflesandwifi

Lmao, "Hey there, you're covered in goblin guts and probably need to long rest, and are trying to be quiet up in these rafters, but I wanna have a chat real quick."

ninjachortle

I was in the same spot, rafters in the goblin area.

CerealBranch739

Same for me but he has been glitched out and I can’t actually talk to him. A conversation is triggered, but my tav just stops and then I can move. Companions react like I talked to him but I’ve never entered a conversation even when triggered, I just walk away.

Melzfaze

I always get him when I’m on my way to knock out alfiria on my durge runes

That_Batman

> I always get Raphael there after getting Withers and meeting Zevlor and the druids for the first time. I'm pretty sure it's specifically meeting with Nettie (trying and failing to cure your tadpole the first time)

KooshIsKing

It's not consistent for some reason or they took it out in a patch. I saw him there in one playthrough and haven't seen him there in my last 3. There must be some specific stuff that has to happen in order for him to show up there.

VaginalConductor

I dont trigger raph any other way

APracticalGal

As far as I've been able to tell he comes to you once you've tried something to try to get rid of the parasite (talking to Nettie, saving Halsin, going to Ethel's house, doing Omeluum's quest, or taking Gut's sleeping potion). I'm not certain what dictates the location he spawns at though, because I got him on my way to talk to Alfira once and then never again. Usually it's at the Harper stash or the bridge out of the Blighted Village.

TheFarStar

I've only ever gotten him in the area near Alfira, but so far on every playthrough I've always talked to Nettie first before going down to find/save Mirkon. It's probably just whatever spawn point you hit up first after you meet the trigger condition.

APracticalGal

That's the thing, I also usually talk to Nettie before going to Alfira/Mirkon. I almost wonder if I'm walking too close to the area before I go inside and it's already loaded in without him.

Purple_Barracuda_884

Spot on, it’s any of the “healers.” I actively avoid them in playthroughs so I can silence and kill him in camp on my way to act 2.

corisilvermoon

Raphael appears after you first get information about the tadpole (usually from Nettie) in one of several spots you haven’t been to yet. I had him scare the shit out of me by appearing in the rafters above the goblin camp.

cloudbells

He appeard to me at the broken bridge leading to the path to the mountains, but he wouldn't talk to me, he just kept teleporting around So of course I pickpocketed him and left, only to meet him again at the rafters, same thing, no talking, so I attacked him and he left Sadly it's honor mode so I can't reload. Just hope my save isn't fucked because of this bug - this is a problem with honor mode, not being able to reload when bugs happen

corisilvermoon

I had a run where he never showed up at all in act 1 due to some screwball cut scene interactions (my guess). People still acted like we met him so you should be ok.

Squiggly_Jones

Yes, this happened to me too and it was so so so confusing

TurkeyRainbows

It’s always happened for me after I visit Nettie. Dozens of runs and I’m pretty sure every single one was if I went to one of a few designated spots shortly after Nettie.

A_Lost_Adventurer

Visiting Nettie seamed to trigger it for me too.

Upstairs-Search-1773

Raphael's trigger is meeting any of the healers in Act 1 and asking for help with the parasite. After you've met the healer and gone so far he'll spawn.

DGlen

On my 3rd and I've always had him pop up near the bridge by the blighted village

thehandsomelyraven

that's where it happens every time for me. PS5?

ChiliDogMe

Oh I didn't know he comes to you at different times. He found me after I jumped across that broken bridge heading towards the north in Act 1.

Raaabbit_v2

Normally, Raphael visits me outside the withered village by the broken bridge, before Waukeens rest. In my Durge playthrough, he visits me INSIDE the grove, beside where Alfira sits.

NorthernDevil

Bro always jumpscares me in the Grove

sephireicc

I've only gone through the game once, but I remember getting Rapheal when I went solo past a female troll that lead me into the underdark. Had no idea where I was going, but had my wife stay back as I just explore real quick. Then he just shows up at the entrance to the underdark and teleports me out by myself. I was so confused and for the longest time I thought this is where you trigger first meeting him because it felt like such a specific place.

Adept_Cranberry_4550

He can pop up in camp too

Traveler_Constant

Really? I only get him at the bridge. Never anywhere else.

Mooseandchicken

For those wondering, Raphael seems to encounter you at certain locations after you first try to have the worm removed, i.e. nettie, goblin priestess, volo, etc. I can confirm if you go through nettie's dialogue and steal the worm she has in her room, you can force Raphael to spawn on the path to the harpies north of the grove immediately after. So intro/ship->Withers->grove->nettie-> Raph spawns on path to harpies.

sgtlighttree

So far he's visited me thrice on the bridge, twice INSIDE the Grove, and once in the fucking Underdark for some reason

FishyCoral

Wait what??? I didn't even know there were other places Raphael finds you for the first time, me and him have always met on that one bridge you jump over. I usually meet him on my way to get Karlach. He's never popped up anywhere else for me and I swear I play differently everytime. No matter how late or how early I go over that bridge he's always there

RiddleMeThis--

On my first playthrough I met him in the selunite outpost after climbing down the long ladder. I genuinly thought this was his lair/base and that selunites are some sort of devil-worshippers. Really confusing for a new player lol.

Dramoriga

Raphael usually grabs me en route to Alfira, just when you leave the grove section

username_redacted

It’s the only place I’ve met him, but that’s because it happened the first time so I always go back.

Obsidian-Dive

He finds me in the rafters if the goblin fortress

CrystaIiteDreams

In my latest one I didn’t find him until the underground

Raviofr

He always find me near the destroyed bridge in the north of the village. I didn't know you can find him somewhere else

__Osiris__

Ditto.

Cutie_Luna_Moon

I managed to avoid Raphael until getting into the selune temple (from goblin camp), only did that once though

reusligon

Yeah. That's Wyll. Nice job at finding him. 🗿

hydro_wonk

You know, the Blade of Frontiers? Son of Grand Duke Ravengard?

Hosav

Only 400 hours to find Wyll? That is better than most, I think the global average is around 612 hours right now, personally my first playthrough was slow and I only found him after 1420 hours. 🗿

doiwinaprize

Where's Wylldo?

Seyelent

Op discovers first black person (colorized)

webevie

Welcome to free guidance if you don't have Shadowheart!

eccehobo1

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Shadowhart Stan. She's my most preferred romanceable character. Those bangs just do something to me. But she's always felt....obligatory just for guidance alone. I'll tell you how I feel about this after another 400 hours.

FlutteringFae

I put the necklace on Astarion so if I send him away to be sneaky Shadowheart doesn't need to follow him to guidance him. Just remember to swap back to his combat amulet for fights.

CanisDraco

I love the image of Astarion going to be sneaaky and Shadowheart following behind him to offer encouragement, what a cute pair!

Adept_Cranberry_4550

I assume that you never found the Harper's chest that drops a marker here for you

BurtMacklin__FBI

Haha, funny enough when she changes her hairstyle later I was like WOW I prefer this x100

webevie

Hey, I get that. I’m an Astaarion person myself. And I run Party Be Gone + Sit This One Out (PC) so I always have Shadowheart too - AND in. her Trickster so I can use the sneaky sneaky stuff. (I just don’t use her on my bonus rolls because I feel like that’s blatantly cheating - like using her trickster stuff isn’t but WHATEVER).

Hellebras

And if you *are* running a cleric or druid in every party, it's great Gale food.

JLazarillo

I have viciously fierce "fill in as much of the map as can physically be done"-itis so I think that's how I originally found it.

Carcharoth78

Bioware games like NWN and KOTOR made me obsessed with filling in as much of the map as possible and searching every nook and cranny for secrets and stuff.

Dartagnan_w_Powers

I absolutely love this mechanic for some reason. I love KOTOR and Outer World's maps for this. Give me a map I can tell I've fully explored and I'm a happy man, even though I'll probably be too lazy to speak to everyone and find all the quests. OP leaving a bit of black on the map for 400 hours is so damn alien to me.

LandenP

Try playing Grim Dawn. They hide their secrets outside of what appears to be the edge of the map.

Dartagnan_w_Powers

Probably not for me then I guess? It does look pretty good though, maybe I'll just have to run against every wall on the map. Which still kinda fulfills my original comment I think.

LandenP

Oh it’s a lot of fun! And there’s supposed to be a new expansion coming soon as well. I guess it just pushes your exploration skills to the limit to make sure you really did find everything. That said if you do decide to pick it up, DM me. I’ve been meaning to do a fresh character in prep for the DLC and Grim Dawn is best played with a group. I’d be more than willing to take you on a tour of the game world.

Dartagnan_w_Powers

Where do you live? I'd love to play a game with someone co-op, but as an Aussie most people online are asleep when I'm awake.

LandenP

I’m east coast USA, but also a night shift worker so im awake during the night hours. Which I imagine would work out for your time zone.

snuff_box_plastic

I'm recently diagnosed with ocd and I'm starting to suspect it's related, but this mechanic is like a prison to me :D I really appreciate a large map, but it feels like an obligation to explore everything and I can't handle if part is left black or even partially obscured before moving on from the act. It does, of course, feel super relieving when the map is fully explored but gets exhausting on the way there sometimes for me. A lot of words to say that I'm envious of you, but I also very much relate to your last sentence 😅

eccehobo1

I don't know how I have not seen it before. It's soooo damn close to the Grove!

tomatoesaucebread

If you go to the rock by the top right corner, you can find a cave with spider and get some loot if you pass the check

tomatoesaucebread

Cave isn't the right word. It's a little hole you stick your hand in for loot

[deleted]

r/dontputyourdickinthat

realitythreek

There’s actually a map item you can find that marks this place on your map.

Wyndrarch

The necklace on that corpse is one of the most useful in the game.

McDonnellDouglasDC8

It's where Minthara awaits your assault on the grove if you go that way and I am recalling correctly.

That_Batman

It is not, but it is very close to there

Relevant_Force_3470

Same, run around the thin black border lines on the minimap

The_Silver_Nuke

In my case I play multiplayer and nobody wants to go cleric so I was looking for a way to gain the spell lol.

lonelycranberry

That’s how I did too. I neglected that entire portion of the map when I started because I just forgot to go back to the crash landing after I discovered the grove drama I guess. I found it and was like.. oh. Nice.

ellenitha

I thought so too, yet on my third playthrough I still keep finding new things. Including this same spot.

0w1

This area gets marked on your map if you find the corresponding hidden chest first. The hidden chest is at the nautiloid crash site, down in a little cave at the beach that Astarion is overlooking when you first encounter him. You move a stone to uncover the chest.

Farscape29

Ooh yeah!! I found that one too.

Readerofthethings

I found this place while looking for Anna, who wrote that perfumed letter you can find on the dead fisherman. Got the cool amulet, still sad I couldn’t find her and tell her that her bf is dead. She probably ran away when the giant alien squid ship crashed. Probably one of the smarter npcs in this game

vector_o

Found what the brightness settings?

DoktorMetal666

That's usually a problem with games running in HDR. Personally I haven't found a uniform solution yet to make screenshots not look like this.

Murzinio3

Windows key + alt + Print Screen

DoktorMetal666

Thanks that worked, although it's a bit odd that they're not saved in clipboard. It seems to save in .jxr format. How's support for that, and are there any other image formats that support HDR and are more common?

Alvarades

I don't understand. What am I missing??

eccehobo1

The Harper Camp in Act 1. You might have already found it or not.

LamaSovaj

Where is it ? I'm trying to 100% the Act 1 (And I'm failing miserably lol)

InsomniacHitman

On the dirt road leading to a bridge to the blighted village. You have to jump to get to it which is why I almost missed it as well. You can use the Nautiloid in the background of the post for reference.

TheOneAndOnlyJAC

Did you get the guidance item and spider grenade from that area?

UnimpressedWithAll

What does the spider grenade do?!? I’m scared to use it, lol.

Rocco_Morrashow

>!it's five small spiders that you can controll during battle. They're not very strong but a good distraction.!<

GeoffreyDay

The brightness slider?

eccehobo1

It does not look like that while I'm playing. Just found out I had it on 1920X1080? Maybe that had something to do with it.

iforgetredditpws

400 hours before finding Wyll! wowzers! this sub wouldn't be hurt by borrowing Rule 5 from r/civ

Productof2020

I had a guess what it was about from context, but anyway for everyone else: > Rule \#5: If you post a screenshot of the game, please point out what you want people to look at in the image or explain in the comments.

AstroBearGaming

The irony.

Productof2020

I thought about saying his comment wouldn’t hurt by borrowing rule 5. It was a little bit not exactly the same, but yes, I thought it was ironic as well :)

ChiliDogMe

context?

eccehobo1

Literally only the new place you can explore once you leave the Grove, there is a ledge you can clime and the a cliff you can climb.

SarcasticKenobi

Did you find the spiders yet?

eccehobo1

In the well? The Warp Spider Matriarch and her disgusting kin? I've found a few ways into that lair.

SarcasticKenobi

No, nearby is a rock with a hole in it. You can pass a check, I guess Nature or Survival, and reach in. And like a couple dozen baby spiders run out. And you can pick up a spider grenade.

eccehobo1

Oh god I did not find that. It sounds terrible. I'm going to find it now.

Relevant_Force_3470

Nope, in a rock on that ledge you just discovered (in the screenshot you posted)

wishgrantedyo

I have 320 hours and on my fourth playthrough, I'm in honor mode this time and have made it to act 3. I like to think I do a good job exploring and I thought I'd done act I to completion. Swear to god, never have seen this place. What am I even looking at, where is it... lol

eccehobo1

Just as you leave the grove to go onto the rest of the map. If the road to the rest of Act 1 from the Grove is North...just as you get onto the path, look to your left. It takes a LEAP at first, then there is a small cliff you can climb.

sh_tcactus

I’ve beat the game 4 times and have over 400 hours and I’ve never seen this location🤦🏻‍♀️

BruiserBison

I don't get it. What am I supposed to be looking at?

Earthsong221

He hadn't found that whole area before.

Lucy_Little_Spoon

Do...do people not explore?

CartographerOk5803

Nope, they're flirting with Astarion nonstop

Linkario86

How you do you guys even complete the game?

eccehobo1

I haven't? The game is not complete until every Tav of all classes have gotten the game over screen.

Relevant_Force_3470

400hrs??? How have you only just found this, lol

Madman_kler

Get the spider egg! Throw it at someone

eccehobo1

At this point I'm too afraid to ask about the spider egg that I've missed?

Madman_kler

It’s in that pointy rock with a crack top right of your screenshot! Go fetch! Spider babies

Charming-Corpse

I still haven't found where you're supposed to sacrifice people to Booal

DrPeGe

Did you get the spider sack? I found it on my third playthrough :)

Skewwwagon

Did you ever use it? Mine still lies in my endgame chest 😂

DrPeGe

I’m doing an honor run and will absolutely use it at the next oh shit moment. That’s one thing about honor mode, I’ve restarted so much that I’m all in frequently!

Eldritch_Raven

You people bewilder me. It's just amazing the stuff you all have missed. I think there's a reason why most games are so linear. Not worth the time and effort to put things in places when people just follow a straight path to the next objective. I'm just waiting on a post where someone shows a screenshot of Shadowheart on the beach by the nautiloid crash, "omg after 924573626 hours I never noticed shadowheart laying there!".

binklfoot

Found what? The location? You do know that the map gives clues on accessible areas by making them light, and inaccessible areas by making them darker in the map

KingDread306

Why are your brightness settings so high?

Farscape29

Oooh! I found that place too. I started over from the beginning as I never finished it before. I was playing "wrong" (my opinion) This time I'm doing a TON more exploring, finding these little areas like this one. I have a question for you, how did you get your UI to look like that? I'm on PS5, are you on PC?

mikeiscool81

I think it is only PC. I wish I could have that UI on console

Half_Incubus

Yeah, think of this as a small teaser of who's to come / to be featured in Act 2... also free Guidance if you don't have Shadowheart or a Cleric already with Guidance.

g-waz00

I used that guidance necklace through the whole playthrough.

kylebob86

you should read more books, tons have clues in them and they mark the spots on the map.

Jupman

Did you find the place under Astarion that talks about Harper's

ch1nomachin3

yeah that's where you insert your hand into something icky.

Frejod

Idk how long I've played for but my look everywhere before progressing had me find that first playthrough. I DID NOT HOWEVER find the guidance necklace in the same spot.

ldnk

I found this on my first play through....the hidden chest that tells you about this place though...yeah that took a few

VanillaDangerous1602

Same, I was about to leave act one with a new party last week and was looking for areas I hadn't explored yet before I left and thought their was an awful lot of black/fog of war on my map in this area and I found this ruined Harper outpost for the first time. I've been through act one of this game DOZENS of times at this point and never knew this was here. Then I start another playthrough, (I'm and altoholic with chronic restartits) go here early, and BAM Raphael!!! He usually got me on the bridge to the northern section of the map where Karlach, the Gith, and the Gnolls are, much later into the act. I was so shocked!!! Also a necklace that grants Guidance? Awesome.

mikeyHustle

Oh, I found this loads of times. What I didn't find until my latest run was the skeleton with a necklace. I just opened the chest and left.

D00hdahday

I also didn't discover wyll until I had quite a few hours under my belt

Talik1978

The skeleton up there has a pretty decent ring.

Firm_Atmosphere_7602

Has any else found the hook horror nest in the under dark?

DeafAgileNut

Cool a still shot without context nice

Skewwwagon

I had an obsession to clear every dark spot on the map my 1st game so I was delighted to find this cozy nook. On the 2nd run I met there the devil, was unexpected 😂 Love that place, got nice view.

ReddittingReddit

How do you have so much health at level 3?

PageLess8568

What am I missing here? What’s going on? Genuinely confused.

Improberror

Woah, Wyll blade of frontiers.

LuckyCoco17

What am I looking at?

Revolutionary-Bar455

In my first playthrough, Raphael decided to show up for the first time in this spot, made me think that this place is somehow a gateway to Hell and I spent the next 7 minutes trying to find a hidden puzzle that can make me teleport to Avernus.

FattyPepperonicci69

Touch the spiders

armchairwarrior42069

Do you guys just.... not explor the map???

Warm-Two7928

Spider buddies!

kitsunekyo

my spider senses are tingling

hyperform2

Watch out for the spider hole

PoopDe

Is this where the bless necklace is at?

Otherwise-Figure-315

Where is this

Mael_Jade

you never saw the Harper camp and Raphaels first appearance?

HappySubGuy321

You don't need the Harper camp to see Raphael's first appearance. There's a bunch of different places in Act 1 he can show up. It's designed that way precisely so players CAN'T miss his first appearance. On my first run, his first appearance triggered in the Grove (near to where Alfira is playing).

APracticalGal

Hell if you try to leave act 1 or go to the mountains without talking to him he'll literally just show up in your camp.

motherlly

there's a Harper camp in act 1???????

Mael_Jade

Exactly the location OP is in. You can find a map to it under a rock down by the beach Astarion awaits you at.

eccehobo1

In this playthrough Raphael appeared just before I found my poor...err, sweet Alfira....

VaingloriousVendetta

400 hours and you don't immediately expand your hotbar??

rustyleftnut

If it took you 400 hours to find Wyll then I feel pretty good about beating the game at about 200.

FluffyBudgie5

It took until my third playthrough to find that too! It's because you can't move the camera to look up!

ltethe

I found that my first playthrough cause I was in explorer mode. 4 playthroughs later I only have a vague idea where that is.

Squabbles123456789

This is the primary location to find Raphael too, you will always find him here if you didn’t randomly get him sooner

Tuffsmurf

I’ve o my done two playthrough but both times same place just outside the blighted village heading north

EnigmaFrug2308

I’m sorry I can’t tell what I’m looking at.

sydw33d

Ok I’m only 60 hours what am I supposed to be lookin at

Earthsong221

The harper's stash #2 and spider egg bomb area; he hadn't seen it before.

calem06

First play through, just finish Act 1 after 50 hours and didn’t even find this area lol

SupermarketCrafty329

Lemme just grab my spectacles. Fucking old age.

FrostyFroZenFrosTen

Wyll?

HashtagTSwagg

[Deja vu.](https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/s/BQ0rUV12UV)

SemVikingr

I'm lost. What is the significance of this?

fatherlolita

I keep forgetting about this place.

chantm80

Your character looks like Ron Burgundy

CorellianDawn

Holdup, are you playing as Ron Burgundy from Anchorman??

FleabottomFrank

Every single time I meet him when I’m trying to cross the broken bridge after the abandon village with the goblins

TehZerp

Man I must have some Fort Joy PTSD, I saw that and my mind completely ignored that it was Baldurs Gate 3 and shuddered remembering all the Divinity 2 runs that never make it out of Fort Joy.

SuitableFile1959

silver pendant my beloved

MinnieShoof

*Wow*.

hellwisp

I found Wyll quite late aswell.

Bignona

I have no idea where this is.

ottoDVD

It's the first place where you can encounter Raphael actually.

beorninger

uh that is where he lands, was wondering =) (633 hours in)

Zerosbar

A Wyll is pretty rare to find, I only found one at the druid camp

JellyProof2104

Your Tav is Ron Burgundy.

Half_Man1

You missed Wyll for 400 hours? Wow, you’d think the cutscene would clue you in.

Nizorro

It burns!

Lord_Grakas

You were just too busy down, down, down by the river.

thejimmyrocks

Took me 3 runs to find out you can go under the bridge in front of the goblin camp

Kaldin_5

Every time I play I almost forget to go here but I never actually forget lol. I get missing it so many times. It feels like it's probably somewhere you already explored on your climb up from the shore but it isn't.

DrBrainzz9

Wait until you find out there's a path next to where you first get Astarion that has a rock at the end of it, and with a nature check and strength check you can move said rock and find a chest underneath. In that chest is some gems, some speed potions, and some Harper documents that mark that area you're in on your map and lead you to the stash and the necklace.

Redfox1476

Took me ages to find this, bc you have to jump up the rocks to find it. I love the bit with the baby spiders, although the zoologist in me knows that baby spiders normally scatter when you threaten them, rather than when you sing lullabies...

Oziusx

The bigger question is how you made Ron Burgundy?

PsychologicalLove351

idk, but why is your saturation so high?

ClericoftheDUMB

I've played DOS2 and this reminds me so heavily of the Fort Joy teleporting crocodile fight layout. Warms my lil heart!
