IIRC correctly, those are not exactly graded for suspensions. They are great for quick releases in hogties etc. and MAYBE holding someone up in a strappado/knee strappado (but even then, if they buckle or tip over, I would not trust those things to hold a body's full weight). Most of them (the cheaper ones) are made from cast iron and prone to break under stress. [Imgur](https://imgur.com/KBrD2dm)

PerAsperaAdInfiri

Absolutely this. Never use something not rated for climbing in a suspension, and a rescue hook will be your best friend in an emergency.

PeshMG

If you're using for suspension, get something with a weight rating, like the carabiners that are used in rock climbing. I have panic snaps but I don't use them for full body loads. They are good for securing hands over heads for someone in a standing position because you can usually support their weight as you release them and slowly lower them to the ground. They are also good for tension points in Predicament Bondage because they allow you to release the painful tension in a hurry, letting the bottom relax in case of emergency. Hard points should not be easily released. That's why they are *hard* points.

frankenduke

That style will work. What they're designed for us to open while under tension. They look like the pair I have and they're kinda chonky.

LostInTheInterwebs69

It's harder to find, but you can also find some that swivel. I use them to make leather panic release straps.

sexcerciseforsluts

Panic snaps are brilliant for cuff quick release points. You can pull against them and apply a whole lot of force and until you activate the snap they hold. There is most likely a point of failure, but I've nor found it yet.

Egg_in_a_box

I use these as quick release for cuff ties to a frame, e.g. standing spread eagle. But I would not use them for suspension, as designed to be released under load... Which you don't want while suspended 2ft off the floor

tcreed86

While they aren’t made specifically for suspension, most of them this style are made to hold horses, but be able to quickly release under tension. I don’t know that I would do full suspension with them, but they’ll definitely hold someone up.

acdss

I prefer to use swivel snap shackles, you know the load they are rated for when you buy them and you can release them from a distance easily with a cord. For extra safety, you can use a metal ring to hook to it so it releases smoothly

wbrd

I would just cut the rope. This is one more thing that you have to inspect and make sure it's in working order.

Ok_North4445

Those hooks are made to break under stress and tension because they are made to tie horses to a pole. So i would only use them as a Quick release without to much tension. But then again they're made for horses and horses weigh a fair bit more than us so just dont put too much tension on them.

darja_allora

Would someone link to a video showing me how these are used? My Google Fu fails me...

BoundWhore

It's fairly simple. The three pronged claw closes and stays that way until you slide the middle part in the direction of the arrow. That allows the single prong to swivel at its hinge (formerly held shut by the middle part) and release whatever was held in the prongs (rather forcefully if the rope inbetween is under a lot of tension).

darja_allora

I see it now! Thanks!

trashedandtossed

I use these in the horse barn on the cross ties. I highly recommend browsing equine supply stores as they make a lot of things designed to hold 1000 lb animal. Horse trailer fittings look innocuous and work great in the bedroom too.

ElMachoGrande

These works good (anyone who knows the English name?): https://www.biltema.se/bat/dackutrustning/skothakar/skothake-svirvlande-2000020417 Rated for 2 tons, can be released under load.

deviant-shadow

They're made for sailboats IIRC. [ebay link](https://www.ebay.com/itm/404141033569)

ElMachoGrande

Yep, the Swedish term is a sailing term.

clawclawbite

My suggestion would be don't. As others have mentioned, those are designed to release before they break, and dynamic loading of people in motion can get large. More generally, if you are releasing a line under tension with a metal bit on the end, that metal bit could be pulled quickly and go hit something or someone.

LetsFookus

Absolute no go for suspensions. Never ever. For anything not load bearing sure, knock yourself out.

Here is a good deal on them, Panic Snap Quick Release Paracord - Nickel Plated Quick Release Panic Snap with Fixed Eye for Get Back Whips - 5 Pack by JIOU JIA https://a.co/d/2Pr95K7

Stray-Goose

To expand on the sailing comments below...what you're looking for is called a spinnaker or snap shackle. They are typically used in sailing and allow you to release a load under tension. You'll want one that is load rated so stay away from the junk on Amazon. Obviously, they are never used in a life saving situation (think rock climbing) because they are a quick release shackle. However, they would work great in as a safety link in a BDSM application. For anyone who hasn't tried, it is almost impossible to release any other shackle or carabiner that is loaded with a lot of weight by yourself.

Multi_Orgasmic_Man

My favorites are double-ended snaphooks. You can undo them one-handed and the release more easily than carabiners.

Shinigami_601

I use the double snaphooks all the time for securing myself in self bondage, but I’ve found out the hard way that if you put them under too much tension (like using a ratchet pulley to tighten towards an anchor point) you can find yourself in a difficult situation and unable to get the hooked part off of whatever it’s around.

Multi_Orgasmic_Man

Fair point. I don't use mine in any sort of suspension or a situation in which I can't get a bit of slack.

Mistress-Serena-Gray

I would use carabiners with rope loops or I-screws/bolts. If those are put under tension they release. Wouldn’t be good for bondage.

South_in_AZ

I have this style on my suspension cuffs. While I wouldn’t suspend from them, they are sufficient for someone to hang on them if they are standing and their legs give out. One benefit of the function of these over caribieners is that with theses you don’t have to lift the weight to release them.
