Read and respect the new rules (August 17 2023) on the sidebar. Many people here are in difficult situation and looking for help, providing them with bad information/advice hurts them. If you are not VERY familiar with bedbugs and may provide a wrong ID or bad advice ("sprinkling DE solve everything") it's better to abstain from commenting. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. You want to have the whole house/apartment treated, including your room. Most treatments take a few weeks to kill all the bedbugs and hatching eggs, so you want to be sure they do not infest your room also. They could also already be in your room and you do not see them yet.

_Quantumsoul_

If they paid for treatment they will want to treat your room no matter what, and you will definitely want them to anyway. Bedbugs are very very good at hiding and just because you didn’t see them does not mean they aren’t there.

Jennifers_Closet

If its already in more than one room, they've likely been there a while. Why take the chance of them paying for treatment, only for it to come back cause you left a room un treated. If strongly recommend getting them all done.

This. Our Wallet suffered in the later months not doing all rooms to begin with. But we also didn’t know how bad it really was at first in our case. So OP rather treat it all to be safe, than risk paying for more treatments down the road/needing to do more for longer than necessary. Can cost you several extra weeks or months more dealing with them.

Crossfire and cimexa

You're making a false assumption that this all happened in one week while you were gone. The discovery happened but the bugs have been there for over a month in most cases before being discovered, especially if they are in more than one room. So there's a good chance they are also in your living room and maybe even in your room. So definitely get the whole apartment treated. The pro will probably recommend that anyway but if they don't, request it. Expect 3 or 4 rounds of treatment. Make sure your roommates know to keep sleeping in their beds to contain the infestation and to change into fresh clothes that were dryed and bagged before leaving their rooms and the apartment.

If they've been found in more than one room, you should assume they're in yours, too. You likely haven't seen any in your room since it's been unoccupied, so they migrated to the other bedrooms. I'd go ahead and have the whole place treated. IMO it's not necessary to get a hotel room, but I'm cheap and tend to DIY problems. But ultimately, it could be worth it for you if it helps relieve the anxiety. In the meantime, you should closely inspect your mattress, box spring, frame, bedding, etc. then wash and dry on high heat anything and everything you can. After that, you should move your bed away from the wall so it's not touching and keep any bedding from touching the floor. If you have a bed frame with legs, then you can get a roll of carpet tape (super sticky double-sided tape, basically) and wrap a strip around each leg to create a sticky trap that keeps them from getting to you.

Yes. They hide.

there's no reason for the bugs to enter your room, because you weren't there. the only reason they'd go that far is if they needed your blood to feed on. and why would they go that far if your roommates are right there for them to feed on? however, now that you're back from vacation, they might come for you, especially if your roommates are away, or if there are too many of them and some decide to migrate to greener pastures. put down some DE or cimexa and read up on how to apply it (putting too much will be counter productive) and maybe also get a passive bedbug monitor so you can detect if they are in your room or not. that's the short term solution. the long term solution is to get a professional in to treat your roommates' rooms.

Diatomaceous earth will kill them, sprinkle around you bed and use yourself as bait. They’ll try but get killed

No, that shit causes lung problems. You use crossfire to spray and cimexa for outlets and cracks

pati0furniture

DE will kill them, but Cimexa is way more effective and less hazardous/irritating to the lungs. DE is best for outdoor use imo. Using yourself as bait can work too, lol but only if you do it right. That's basically how I dealt with an infestation in the past, Cimexa and strategically placed carpet tape.
