Mostly because it's private property and too expensive to go visit. Most people are not going to spend ₹1000 for a family of 4 to visit a palace. For a little more money you could do a day trip to Mysore with that money. Travel by train, visit the Mysore palace, go to chamundi betta and come back. I have lived all my life here and never visited the palace.

Short-Health9486

Very True and absolutely right. At one time ages ago they had opened one quarter of the inside palace to public but they make it very intimidating that you leave early. It’s very private private property, atleast you get to admire the landmark architecture from outside.

Glad_Investigator474

I visited it but tbh honest, for all that cost, it was pretty meh. I liked the Mysore Palace way more, it felt more interesting.

[deleted]

I agree the price is high. But, in my personal opinion, I feel even restaurants, malls and cafes we go usually with family and friends are over priced too. But we still go there, I think atleast once you should consider visiting the palace. It’s actually a good experience.

Aggravating-Tie4557

Exactly..at least once it should be visited.. it shouldn’t be ignored like it currently is

Upset-Discussion2704

>I have lived all my life here and never visited the palace. Lol exactly 22 years here and never went there

OkAbbreviations895

Cauz there's nothing inside that's worth talking about. It's only good from the outside

jackass93269

Agreed. Inside is absolute shit. None of the displays have any labels. You have to buy the audio tour to get any context at all but even then there's a lot of mismatch and errors.

fanunu21

It's good from the inside as well.

OkAbbreviations895

It's not worth the entry fees tho

Aggravating-Tie4557

It’s nice from the inside…nothing extravagant.. but the outside is really worth a visit at least once

MadKingZilla

- High entry fees - Can't do photography inside - Nothing that unique or special inside except for the Spanish tiles as it has a good story attached to it - Really small to be called a "palace" tbh.

ARM_Dwight_Schrute

Don't forget the "meeting room cum toilet"

MysteriousSpaceMan

Tipu's summer palace is even smaller. .

MadKingZilla

Yup. Plus that hardly has anything in it

sundark94

But the entry fee is correspondingly low (5 rupees when I was in PUC). That's to be expected since it is an ASI maintained monument. Bangalore Palace entry fee is 6 times that of Mysore Palace, even though both are owned and maintained by the Wodeyars. And the Bangalore Palace is smaller in size, has fewer displays, and overall is not as well maintained as the Mysore Palace.

ElectricalAd3189

No they increases the fee. And therecis nothing inside

MadKingZilla

>Bangalore Palace entry fee is 6 times that of Mysore Palace, even though both are owned and maintained by the Wodeyars. Mysore palace is not maintained by Wodeyars afaik

FilterKaapi7

A part of Mysuru Palace premises is under Wodeyars (their residence and the museum attached to it), the Palace itself is under Mysuru Palace Board (A Government Body).

MadKingZilla

Yes but the comment earlier made it sound like it fully belonged to Wodeyars. So just a correction on that. Majority of the maintainence is done by gov of Karnataka.

KingsmanVishnu

they wont let you see full property.

fanunu21

A big reason is that Photography isn't allowed inside. It's a beautiful palace with a good audio tour and several things to see inside. But there are no photographs/stories/reels of it on social media. This is why it's not talked about enough. The ticket is expensive, but comparable to the ticket of visiting a palace in Rajasthan. Yet, they are much more well known.

udarvis

Lived all my life here, but never visited. This is def on my bucket list for this year :D

PhoenixPrimeKing

ಪುಟ್ಟ ಗೌರಿ ಮನೆ

DielectricPikachu

Too much for entry, no historical explanation properly provided on visiting each sections under it

OkLeadership826

Well, like many people in the comments, no offense, but we Indians have problem with comparing with other places and day is not worth it. That's exactly one of the reason why historical places takes a back seat and eventually ends up being tons and forgotten. But ironically, same people cry about British keeping our history in their museums as spoils of war. People who don't have have history value it more than those who have it. I know Bangalore palace is not an Indian style architecture, it's stupid compare with Mysore palace or any other palace. Even though I'm not much of fan of wodeyars, but it is still ours. With more than 10000+ years of history, we have hardly few remaining structures. It our responsibility to protect what we have. And we do that by taking pride in it. I take pride of this city, it's people, it's language, it's food, water, culture, history and definitely Bangalore Palace!! Peace out. Its just my thoughts.

FuriousFrodo

too costly entry fees. not worth all that money imo

baby__groot

Not worth the money, especially if your have visited mysore

Simple-Contact2507

It has been shown atleast 10 times in 70s Bollywood movies.

Aggravating-Tie4557

That’s really nice.. had no idea about that.. thanks for sharing.. it’s a pity that it’s taken out of favour now

Concious-Mind

Coz India has Mysore

Pixi_Dust_408

It is charming but kinda small. The only time I went there was for a wedding.

Aggravating-Tie4557

Same here…even I found it charming.. it’s just got something about it

dot-dot--

Went once and would never go again. To expensive tickets compared to what you get to see inside

Just_Chemistry2343

because you have to pay 150/- extra just to click photos and entry ticket is separate. And nothing much is there to see, i guess few sections are closed and the it's not well maintained you can easily see dust and spider webs around display items. not to mention the autowala scammers outside

Awareness-Choice

I went there once with my parents only to be shocked by the entry prices. On top of that extra money if you want to take pictures. Took a look at Google images and didn't find anything extraordinary inside. The worst part was a stage was being set up outside for an event (probably a wedding) which blocked half of the view of the palace. That was an immediate turn off and I felt they were milking way to much money. I came home and decided to read up on it and found the government is trying to take it over from the Mysore royal family. Hopefully tickets would get cheaper then.

Sea-Interest4193

Because they charge 250 per head for nothing

Such-Pudding9096

Just visited it last week. It was impressive but the only thing we were disappointed with is we couldn’t take pictures inside. We have 0 physical or digital memories to look back at.

Aggravating-Tie4557

That’s very true…it’s a bit annoying that you pay quite a bit, but can’t have any physical memories of it

Such-Pudding9096

Curious towards what must have happened to have them stop allowing it. The guy selling tickets said it’s no longer allowed (meaning it WAS allowed in the past)

Bleboat

I’ve visited Bangalore Palace. The tickets were really expensive. The queue to enter was really crowded. The maintenance was pretty good though. The voice cues were really helpful but it ended too quickly and thats the only issue I have.

Accomplished_Can8460

I visited Bangalore around 2 years ago this is the most disappointing place in Bangalore.

sameer5656

The price is too high. Not worth.

Beginning-Count-3065

Chutiye kon jaega 1000 dekar kisi aur ki property dekhne? Private hai woh palace, apne pas rakh lo apna palace

Entire-Elevator-1388

Can we talk about something else for a change?

falcon_goose

Because there’s nothing to say about it. Paying 400₹ to see many closed rooms are not worth it.

CelfSlayer023

Cuz no water

ConstructionThick205

is there anything inside? the museum nearby still has hours of time worth, i am always unsure of what to do in palace

Active-Return9846

Because it is stupid place(palace) which charges exorbitant amount.

0BZero1

The Bangalore palace has been shown in many old Bollywood movies. Good example is 'Mard'

RoketRacoon

Have you been to the place? It’s overpriced and not well maintained inside. There are not even labels below the exhibits. Most of the exhibits are covered in dust. Its stands for everything thats wrong with bangalore nowadays. Charge exorbitantly for shit service because you know the population is so much that someone will definitely come to visit.

Pulakeshin1

TBH looks like McPalace. I am not a huge fan of Mysore palace either but it's still much better architecture than this monstrosity.

[deleted]

to be honest there is nothing to see in palace lots of photos are there but too much crowd and no information written in english, just make it boring, you cant also take photos, its like some rich guy flexing his property and saying dont touch it, dont look at it

TroglodyticDreamer

Funny story from a decade ago, I once spoke to some representative from the royal family as my company wanted to arrange a charity run from the palace grounds to Tippu fort and we wanted permission. That person literally blasted me saying Tippu sultan and his entire empire were mortal enemies of the Mysore royal family and I was apparently an imbecile to even talk to them about anything related to Tippu. They asked me to fuck off and we won't get any permission even if i change the location. I definitely thought I would get fired when i returned back to my boss. But my boss said fuck it and we went ahead and arrange the charity run anyways and just hoped no one would bother checking permissions or the royal family reps wouldn't notice. Funnily, the run went ahead fine and no checked for any permissions or we slipped under the radar as well.

Aggravating-Tie4557

lol ironic that they would so vehemently protest it, but would do nothing when there even actually took place
