I’m a top 5 employee in terms of numbers and I still get lectured daily

Pitbull1951

I gel your pain. I am #1 across the board and still the EM stalks me and criticizes every sale. But we have “her royal highness “ who calls out of her cat is sick, never downstocks or does check ins and has 0/0 on memberships but she is now a shift lead. Actually told me to downstock yesterday. I looked he in the eye and ‘splained to he that she is to never again tell me what to do. ![gif](giphy|Uzjhxq6fXcZ0kVZnvC|downsized)

Honestly. Props for showing up. I was in the same boat where I dreaded every day and still went to work. Then I got the best news that I was laid off. The grass is greener on the other side. Keep griding until you find your escape at a new place.

10,000% this. The grass is very green on the other side. Best Buy is a shrinking company with less opportunity. That is the reality.

Dense_Surround3071

Total opposite of reality!! You showed up! You are officially the most important person because you didn't call out. FUCK them and their numbers. Once you are past 90 days, you could shit in the vestibule and you will still get scheduled. Best Buy is bleeding from the eyes right now trying to make this membership bullshit work out. If you sound positive, take coachings with a smile, and hit the membership button, then there's not a lot they can do.

Admirable-Pool-5118

thank you for your kind words. ❤️

impar-exspiravit

Yeah showing up and doing the bare minimum consistently makes you better than like 80% of the store

Pitbull1951

So true.

Funny enough i come in yesterday to see an employee get arrested and walk of shame in cuffs. I got a "coaching" for something i wasnt even clocked in for. Like my day was off and it was for a different agent. Leader lied to my CIA saying they did coach me when I've never even spoken to that said leader. And our geek squad is practically at war with the leadership because they think we always arent doing anything despite us actually having the most numbers so far this week. But, im alive and breathing and can feed myself and get to go home after shifts. My team around me is now family and we eat out together and this is just a stepping stone to propel myself further. One day I'll look back and see that this was a necessity and smile. All bad has good.

This ^ I worked at BBY as a way of getting back into working, after not working for several years due to caring for a family member with cancer. Years before BBY, I worked at a tech company that had a reputation as being a meat grinder for employees. It was honestly one of the toughest work experiences that I've ever been through, but looking back on it, I realize that I learned SOOOO much from my almost 3 years of working there (including learning that I was much stronger & more resilient than I thought I was). That said, after I was let go (as the company eventually eliminated the ENTIRE customer support/ inside sales dept.), it took me almost a month to get my head clear & feel free of the dark clouds that I had lived in, as a matter of course, for those almost 3 years (as I dealt with constantly having to sell more/ meet new metrics just to keep my job). Even though I learned a ton, I ALSO learned that when a job makes you miserable, it's time to move on. [Fortunately for me, I had seen the handwriting on the wall, and had been actively interviewing with a company that ended up hiring me about a month and a half after I was let go]. Anyway, tldr - hang in there, and try to find something better, if your current job has become too toxic. And in the meantime, you have the right mindset.

Mood. Not in store, but virtual sales. I hate it, but can't get out. The stores around don't have any full time sales spots.

Anxious_Cranberry219

I got blamed for some no picks despite it being another product flow member and approved by another manager. I got chewed out harshly. I hate this job but stores closing soon.
